The way i know that Passerine!Wilbur will absolutely beat the shit out of Dsmp!Wilbur for his gaslight and manipulation towards Dsmp!tommy just makes it 1000% funnier

I'm noticing a trend in mythology references in the Dream SMP. Here are some things I noticed; additions will be in the reblogs. I'm not sure what they might mean, so I'm curious to see if dsmpblr has any ideas.

So far, most of the mythological references are from Greek mythology.

For a start, we know about Techno and Tommy's relations with Theseus; we won't get into that. But that is one of the first direct references to Greek mythology that we see.

Today, Foolish revealed lore about his character which brings me to think he is a combination of Zeus (god of the sky), Poseidon (god of the sea), and Hades (god of the Underworld), as in power.

Here's why:

- He used to be a sea god. (Which is really hecking cool.) Like Poseidon.

- He has control over the sky and can summon lightning (without using a Channeling trident). Foolish said this is due to his sea god powers, but doesn't that seem similar to a Zeus power to you?

- Foolish also used to be a Totem of Death. Additionally, Totems of Undying stop a player from dying, as their name suggest; these are definitely Hades-like powers.

So Foolish has powers of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, the arguably best known and most powerful Greek gods. We already know that he stands at about 23 feet (around 701 cm) tall, which is definitely inhuman. He has also stated to be a god/demigod who has been around for many years, even possibly more than Philza.

(also, note: Foolish and Dream, under Puffy, are brothers in a way... Foolish is a literal demigod/god with the above powers, and Dream has the power to summon the dead thanks to knowledge from the Book of Necromancy. kinda weird that there's a parallel here, isn't it?)

Additionally, Foolish's "summer home" contains elements of and is inspired by Egyptian mythology.

And the Syndicate. They use Greek mythology-related names; definitions taken from here.

Technoblade: Protesilaus A Greek hero in the Trojan War - Despite knowing an oracle had foretold his death at Troy, he was the first Greek warrior to step ashore and consequently the first to fall. He was able to kill a number of Trojans beforehand.

Philza: Zephyrus God of the West Wind, and one of the four seasonal Anemoi (wind gods), often depicted with a pair of wings.

Ranboo: Lethe Greek spirit of forgetfulness, oblivion, and concealment. The River Lethe was also a river in the Underworld which caused you to lose all memory upon touching it. According to Ovid this river flowed through Hypnos's (the Greek god of sleep) cave and induce drowsiness.

Niki: n/a

Unknown: Harpocrates God of silence, roses and secrets; the Greek interpretation of the Egyptian god Harpa-Khruti (Horus the Child).

These names may have foreshadowing... aside from the powers (if any) of the mythological beings related to the characters, they have other similarities: Philza is possibly immortal and his syndicate codename is a god; Ranboo is not human, and his syndicate codename is not human either; Technoblade has killed many of the SMP members, just as his syndicate codename did.

How could I forget the giant fucking prison

Pandora's vault gets its name from the myth of Pandora's box/jar, in which all the evil of the world was stored in. If you're curious about the original myth, you can read about it here. The part I'm focusing on is Pandora's jar held all the evils in the world, which she eventually let out and left Hope trapped inside.

So what does this mean? I've come up with two possible meanings, though I'm sure there are more.

1. Dream = the evils in the world. This would also mean that Dream will be inevitably let out of Pandora's jar (vault), which is quite possible at the moment. A step further would be that Pandora (Sam), the person in control of the jar (vault), would be the one to let out the evil (Dream) and leave hope inside.

2. Dream = hope. This would mean that Dream is Hope, trapped inside Pandora's jar (vault). The prison's visitors may represent the evils and woes of the world, as they leave the jar (vault) and return to everything else while Hope (Dream) is trapped inside, unable to escape.

Dream called the cat (i believe it was "pussboy" according to Tommy) "hope". It may have been a reference to Hope in Pandora's jar; it might line up with the first possibility I listed, which is that the evil (Dream) will be let out while hope (the cat) would be left behind. In a way, because the cat died in the prison, it will never leave. And therefore, Hope (the cat) is forever trapped in Pandora's jar (vault).

Both are possible. And both depend on the point of view you look from.

Some Dsmp arcs, needed arcs, stories and their satisfying playout/end, typed by me

Lets get straight*cough* to the point, (/rp)

Sam’s Corruption Arc

We all know this creeper hybrid is corrupted whether he likes it or not. His corruption arc is caused by him being the Warden, Dream’s words and actions in the prison, and Quackity’s words.  To be a bit more specific, Sam is misguided in his attempts to keep Dream locked up, and keeping the relations he has positive.  

His corruption arc needs to end with Sam realizing what he’s become, becoming utterly broken by his actions.  It has to end with him realizing that Dream still has power, that Quackity cared for him but used him, and that a lack of interaction is bad.  

I picture his next arc either him healing and repairing bonds, or refusing to admit his gullibility, leading to a dark pogtopia-Wilbur-esque spiral.

Tommy’s Story

We know this kid has been through more than a lot.  He is a war veteran.  He is supposed to be healing.  His story must end with a happy ending, a big victory for him.  A sad ending would seem expected and boring in a sense.  ‘c!Tommy obviously got a sad ending because nothing good happens to heroes-’ shh.  I trust that Wilbur will do justice for this character.

Technoblade’s Needed Arc

Technoblade is a character with massive amounts of plot armor.  He’s never died(lol).  His character hasn’t been through arcs where they do soul-searching, or discovering something about them.  His character is lacking self-awareness and self-reflection.  He is in need of an arc where he reflects on his past actions, past sentences once said.  Something to cause him inner-turmoil. 

He needs an arc where he goes through memory lane, the five stages of grief, or something where he has to make a difficult decision.  Something to challenge him mentally.

Sapanp’s Potential

We’ve all seen the lore teaser.  We saw that part where he took out his sword.  This could lead to a ‘villain’ or ‘vigilante’ arc. Or him realizing his place as a protector, a guardian.  The chorus from Left Behind, a fnaf song, would fit him if he goes down a ‘villain arc’.

He was left behind twice, first by Dream and George, then his fiancés, even if they never meant it.  Lack of communication is a hell of a plot motivator.

He also has relations to Tommy and Ranboo.  That could lead to a protector arc.

And we can’t forget his two dads, Skeppy and Bad. And a positive relation to Punz.  Sapnap has a negative view of the egg.  How would this affect those relations?  Cc!Bad did hint at Sapnap potentially knowing about the executions about to take place.  This could lead to a different arc.  

Sapnap’s story is one were decisions are everything yet nothing.

Puffy’s Realization

In my opinion, Puffy is in need of an arc focusing on her flaws. A main flaw, her lack of understanding.  She doesn’t understand why Bad, Ant, and Ponk stayed loyal to the Egg.  She views it as ‘I broke free from the egg’s control, but you guys didn’t, which means that you are willingly doing this, I thought we were friends’ She needs an arc where she reflects on her decisions, and goes through regret for her actions.

She needs to realize that she failed her friends when she didn’t try to find a cure to remove the egg’s attachment to her friends.  She needs to realize the impact her actions have caused.
