Various papers were scattered along your desk—some in a neat stack, some randomly clumped together in some edge of the desk. You found yourself absolutely buried in your work, practically drowning in a sea full of work and study's.
Some books lay open, pages crinkled lightly from all of the flipping. A few books are stacked beside the desk, neatly or simply littered simultaneously around your sluggish figure.
Your eyes grow slightly heavy, but you force them open. Your hand continuing to work vigorously upon the paper being held down by the side of your hand. You look forward for a moment, staring up at the open book ahead. Your eyes graze over the small text the book contains, before looking back down at the paper you were writing on before. (WHY DO YOU WRITE LIKE YOU'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME)
Ink letters in slightly uneven lines lay on top of the slightly crumpled paper. A few smudges around the edges of some the letters are present, but you're too exhausted to pay them any mind.
You set your pen down for a moment, to raise your hands and rub your eyes. As of recently, you noticed shaded circles underneath them. Your beloved partner Dyle, was actually the one who pointed them out.
"Darling, I think it would be in your best interest to get some more rest... there are bags underneath your eyes." He said, concern painting his voice. Dyle's clock hands twitch as he gazes at the dark circles, as though they stuck him with a hurtful insult.
"I'll be okay, besides, I've got too much work to be worrying about rest." You dismiss, your lips rising slightly upward to form an almost-there smile. Dyle remains silent as the sound of a train passing accumulates throughout the lobby in which you both stand.
Dyle hadn't spoken up about your lack of sleep. After all, he would be a hypocrite to scold you on your rather messy schedule, as he was the same way. He too understood what it was like to dive into your work completely, ignoring all and everything else until it eventually got done. He was aware he also avoided proper rest just to finish any paper work Dandy had requested he get done.
He as well was a workaholic—but at least he knew what time was best to finally rest! You, on the other hand, possibly couldn't even comprehend what the word "sleep" meant.
The moment he got back from his work was supposed to be peaceful. Dyle pictured you finally getting some rest, laying in your shared bed comfortably. And he'd get to smile, knowing you'd finally given yourself a break and fall asleep next to you once more.
But, instead of the sigh he was expecting... he saw you slouched over your desk. Mindlessly writing reports as though you were some undead zombie who only knew to do specifically that.
A ticked off sigh leaves his lips as he observes your tired form. He begins to walk towards, elegance still gracing his movements and posture. His golden chain, polished and shiny, wrapped around his hand. He gripped it a tad tighter, now standing behind the chair you sat in.
You feel a gentle hand place itself upon your shoulder. You flinch, snapping out of your hyper-focused work daze. You instinctively turn your head to look up and see who the hand belonged to.
"Oh.. Dyle, welcome back." You greeted tiredly, voice soft as you slightly drag the words out. A almost smile gracing your lips. More just the corners of your mouth slightly twitching up. Fatigue wrapping itself around your brain as you attempt to keep your eyes open. "Dear, I think it's time for you to rest." Dyle placed an emphasis on the last word he spoke.
You possibly would've picked up on it if it weren't for the fact that your mind was slightly fuzzy due to your lack of slumber and your ambition to complete your work load. "Sorry my love, but I got to finish this before tomorrow..." You say, your words slightly raspy and airy. You lean your forehead onto your fingertips, supporting your head.
"No, I insist! You've spent enough time with your study's, and I believe it is best to sleep now." Dyle pressed on, causing you to lightly shake your with whatever remaining strength you had left.
"Mmm... I can't right now, I promise I will once I finish." You continue to stubbornly oppose. The low ticking of a clock can be heard. Then, the sound of a metal chain being dropped onto the floor. Your pen continues to move along the paper before it's then lifted from the page.
The pen clatters onto the desk as the chair you were sitting on before is pushed to the side. You are lifted into the air unexpectedly—you gasp subconsciously as a result.
The back of your knees fall over an arm laced with a delicately ironed, and incredibly fashionable, suit. A hand grips your waist as the side of your head is now pressed against Dyle's shoulder. You look up at him, your eyes now widened from his action.
"Unfortunately, 'I can't right now' is not an answer I will accept. 'Yes' or any form of that singular word is acceptable." Dyle states, as he begins to step forward, his long chain connected to his head dragging along with his movements.
You pause—taking a moment to process his actions. "B-But Dyle! I'm required to finish that report by tomorrow! I-If I don't.. Dandy might—" You begin to argue by Dyle slices your sentence short. "I'll inform Dandicus that it was conflicting with your sleep. I'm more than certain he will understand." He states, continuing to persistently drag you away from your piles of crinkled paper and books.
You gradually blink. The fatigue now finally causing you to relax into his arms with a defeated expression upon your face.
So, you allow him to gracefully place you upon your shared bed. You immediately sink into the plush cushion, the comfort and warmth of the bed greeting you. Your sluggish form gradually relaxes. Beside you, a weight presses down on the bed.
"Dyle?" You mumble, cracking open an eye to gaze at him. "Hm?" He hums in acknowledgment of your call. "I'm sorry for making you worry..." You say tenderly. Dyle gives you a gentle chuckle before he gingerly envelops you in his loving hold.
"Don't be sorry," He responds quietly. "It's my job as your significant other to worry about you.."
You knew Dyle wasn't one for physical contact, preferring consent from him before being hugged and such. He also didn't initiate physical affection all too often. He found many other ways to show his love; such as gift giving and words of affirmation.
But, he does enjoy snuggling with you in bed every once in a while. Especially when you're feeling rather forlorn and upset. And sometimes he just takes delight in being close to you, holding you, reminding himself that you're here and you're his.
And honestly, you happy you were his.

☆ Saying it now- he is still very.. eerily nice. Though don't be fooled he's probably right now loathing in pity in the elevator shop as you do machines- the more the break up carries out the slower he starts to get petty.
☆ Like making Dandy fall head over heels- it's a double edged sword where on both sides Dandy still cares for your opinion or attention. Before when dating him you had the higher chances of getting his twisted if you didn't buy from him, that or just to see you… Now make that on almost every floor. Rodger's dream.
○ You were silent as the elevator door creaked open, they first thing in view is a massive twisted- Dandy. He was just sitting there.. Like a goddamn roadblock.. Sir.. MOVE.
☆ At this point the twisted won't aggro onto you mostly since it is only Dandy up your ass all floor the entire damn time. Bro is following you around like a stray.. Just a giant one. He doesn't kill you or force you to stay with him since you'll see him either next floor or the one after that.

☆ Dandy had been catching feelings, it was hard to deny that to himself now when the love inside him started to eat bits of his heart out, so before the pain of only being a friend got to unbearable.
☆ At this moment he was determined to tell you how he felt, he was open with you more now that Astro saw him less and less. Leading to you being his fallback or knight in no armour to run to for comfort.
○ With a heavy heart from both love and sending you a note to meet him under the lobby tree at night for none to see- he breathes leaving him more and more as the chill of the empty lobby hits his petals causing them to curl in, he didn't bring any chocolates or flowers. He didn't see a reason to sway your opinion in the moment, all of the gift stuff could wait.
○ That or push you away with many chocolates and or come off desperate or what if your allergic to- okay maybe he should take a breather he's over thinking it a bit to much.
○ When you did arrive he may have splurged his feelings out for you.. you sorta looked at him in a daze- more of shock and worry.. “Dandy I- can't.” “...” He genuinely didn't know how to respond. He was almost confused, did he do something? Were you just uninterested in him? That was fine if you were- “Dandy, I do want to love you. Truly, however- you tend to run and go from thing to thing..” He did tend to be unorganized with his.. emotions, and instead of trying to really fix it he came to you.. “- and one day that will eventually be me.” like Astro, you couldn't take it anymore.
☆ You and Dandy did sorta- okay beating around the bush aside- you and him did fall apart. He still wanted to talk to you, but instead it would be you initiating it and not him. He made sure that his demeanor still had that perfect poster boy charm he had back then. He would greet you, don't color him unmannered- but any further conversation is and will have to be initiated by you.
☆ When his twisted appears which is rare as uncommon or rare now and not every floor: he just sorta stalks you, watching from a distance as you carry on with whatever you were doing. It wasn't entirely creepy.. He was just watching your life from the sidelines whether twisted or not. He still likes you, eventually you would come to terms with it after he betters himself..

☆ It was complicated for Astro when you told him that you and him were no more, he didn't beg, he didn't cry, just accepted it. He wouldn't pull a Dandy on you where you had to be near him almost 24/7. If anything he starts to isolate himself.
☆ Dandy will occasionally check in on him, not completely pestering a confession out of him but more try to figure out what the fuck happened. When you broke it off with Astro it was in a private area so no toon heard it.

He accepted it. “If so.. just this once for the last time?” he asked, hand and hand. Grip firm but gentle, he opened up his blanket to let you hug him. Your head on his shoulder as you shifted your weight so you leaned gently against him.
☆ Astro wouldn't participate in many runs anymore, it was now a rare sight to see him now and then. Though to make up for it he would visit your dreams from time to time. Not as Astro, but in the distance as a faceless figure.
○ You woke up groggily, was that Astro? You tried to recount the timeline of events in the dream.. A silhouette in the distance in the very shape of the moon toon, when you looked to see Astro's face more clearly - no crescent moon, just a void black as the bottom of the sea. His star eyes piercing your soul by the way the cold spiked straight through your being.
☆ This wasn’t a first, Astro presented himself in many ways in your dream.. A basking light, a stranger, in a field outside of Gardenview- the rare dreams you wished about seeing the outside world..

{Rejection Route}
☆ There is little to say, he doesn't try to persuade you or degrade you for rejection. Just there.. He does check in on you though- it was his duty to at the least make sure you and the others were well in and out of sleep.
☆ He was about the same before and after, just doesn't talk about it or want to bring it up. Overall, he respects your opinion and space.
Sprout
☆ This may be a little hard, not Dandy hard but uhmm.. Kinda taking the 2nd rank here- He doesn't take it well. Especially if you were a toon like Cosmo: made for him as his best friend. That or partner since we are in the breakup headcanons right now.
☆ Sprout at any time making eye contact with you, you thought he was about to straight up twist by how red his eyes were.. you could tell he was putting on some sort of mask when he faced you. He couldn't be seen crying his eyes out at his ex..
○ “Sprout?” oh boy were you about to regret basic toon interaction? Oh please no. “Y-yeah?” there was a small puny voice cracked in his voice. Oh shit. Sprout didn't seem to on his game by how close Cosmo stood right clean next to him.
☆ You and Cosmo were still technically friends, communicating through him to some degree before Sprout could properly look you in the eye again. At least without water works that is…
○ “Sprout hopes you're having a nice day..” Cosmo spouted quietly as it was only meant for your ears to hear only. “Tell him I hope his day is better today and everyday.. ” you reply. If anything you were happy there was no bad blood between you and him.
○ And yes Sprout kicked his feet a bit like a school girl- he rather talk to you and all that then cut all ties and never talk again.
○ “Hey- uhm good afternoon..” Sprout spoke up first, the small tension in the room sublingual and fanning out a bit. “Hey.. How are you?” you ask, if anything you hoped you wouldn't trigger a crying fit.. It was almost worse then Squirms- Just quieter and viciously prolonged. It quite literally took days for Sprout to step foot out of his room.
☆ over time though he did kinda go back to normal, which both parties were thankful for.. maybe you would possibly be able to recover that relationship if you wanted.. Maybe be careful though.. Sprout was already obsessive even without being a yandare- he isn't likely to kidnap you or poison- just submissive and puts aside his own needs for your benefit way more than he used to..

☆ “Sprout.. You're lovely, it's true.. I'd be lying if I said you weren't- but we can't..” “Why? May I ask-” “I- Just.. You can be way past the line of too overprotective.. heck you're already like that with me and Cosmo.. I mean- I get that-” Okay you were not going there with how Cosmo was made to be specifically best friends with Sprout.. “- you're meant to be the one who protects us all and heals us when needed.. Which we all appreciate but you also need to help yourself.. You can't always be our crutch because you yourself don't have one because you're a main character.” It was generally looked at that the mains turned into the providers during the shutdown, meaning that they were pushed to be way more independent than necessary. It was hard for Sprout to ask for help- which left him open.
○ If you had to classify all of Sprouts bad habits or flaws then you'd have a list…
Overprotective- again if you were created to be his partner YOU WILL BE AT CONSTANT HIP TO HIP WITH HIM. With this main factor comes more-
○ You were almost put off by how fast Sprout changed, you knew him.. He never got so angry so quickly- you never pried on how his fallout with the others went- especially about Dandy.. But was it normally this bad?.. That and how he became just.. naturally ‘rude’? Like how a toon asks if he and them were considerably friends- or how Teagen invites them to tea parties.. He just shuts them down, you know he doesn't mean to be rude about it.. He wasn't Brusha or Shrimpo but there could be times where he could hurt another toon's feelings..
Validation - he is like Bassie.. but worse.

Controlling-
Okay you knew he didn't mean to- but fearing for your health and hyperfixating on it so much it put off even Cosmo half the time.. Like he was probably a hop and skip away from performing bloodwork on you to keep the ichor clean so you would have 0% to twist- thats if he was a certified professional and if Dyle or Dandy let them into the labs or human medical center somewhere located behind the doors on some floors- those were there so staff wouldn't need to leave work on hours.. ha.. but yes Sprout is and can be worse.
☆ Since he had no love via relationship and kissing and all that he ain't tearing up for shit.. Why cry over spoiled milk? Unless that was the last milk you'll have maybe in I dunno- EVER? HA.
○ Okay this is where Sprout meets Dandy at his game. You and him have no bad blood. You see him less and less but why does his smile and tone almost feel familiar to Dandy- happy tone, sweet smile, a bit close..

☆ Okay lets get one thing clear, Vee- like Sprout- can also make other toons feel like shit. The thing that tears her apart from Sprout is the fact she holds long time grudges like the one with Scraps- which was something as little as winning the gameshow.
○ “Vee..” “yes?” “Can we talk?”
☆ It was.. something.. Not clean nor messy. “So your leaven’ me just like that..” Vee spoke, and all because of her being a little ‘too harsh’.. You were JUST now correcting her while shit was hitting the fan? Not before like maybe a month into the relationship? But nooooooooo.. RIGHT AFTER GARDENVIEW CLOSES.
○ This is the one character that has a weird personal grudge against you- kinda the only one so far that hates you and blames you a bit.. She isn't exactly the new Brusha, but she is a bit more colder and detached.
☆ No way are you and Vee getting back together. She will not be hurt again.

☆ Both you and Vee were on her floor together just discussing whatever, bouncing from topic to topic. No crazy details, just enough said by context clues and body language. That was until she steers it into a subtly romantic category. Not a first.
○ “What if dated- like fake dated I mean-” Vee spoke, her voice forcing a nonchalant feel to it as her voice had a small skip in it- the second part trying to cover it up as a facade. As if fake dating was meant to be the ask and not a partnership. “Now Vee- don't advertise the thought. And don’t make jokes about that.” you reply. Turned away from the tech toon so you wouldn't see the way her face scrunched as she saw the bug in her ask. Fake dated- She could've come up with something better!
☆ She knew you didn't mean it- you thought she was messing with you- Not the first time and surely not the last, but this time.. Not on the topic of romance. If she were going to confess again she would have to be forward and not try to save it with the announcement as ‘fake dating’.
☆ Glisten and Brightney start to do those whole dating tests and such with Vee, which is just a stress test of Vee's on the spot improvising skills.
Shelly
☆ To find someone who actually prioritized her and her dinosaur facts- was hard. So her being broken up with is harder. She isn't like a clingy mess the mischaracterizations put her out to be- she takes it as well as she could- only for the tsunami of emotions to hit her like a tidal wave.
☆ She stays in her room for long periods of time- like Astro isolates herself from just you, if you need anything or want anything just ask!- She's doing fine! Yeah.. Tisha is the one to comfort her during these times, that or Sprout and Cosmo. Tisha just.. looks at you but says nothing on the notion. But Sprout or Cosmo kinda ask you if you are fine after the breakup as well. It's not a situation where everyone hates your guts- no never! Shelly would never orchestrate any of that!
○ “So hey, are you uh- doing good and everything?” Sprout asked, he knew why and everything just not how to ask if a toon is fine and dandy- no pun intended. “Uh yeah? You?” you reply, obviously confused about the interaction. “Good! Just checking. Though if you need anything just come to me.” He replied back.
☆ There were maybe a few times you'd hear from Shelly..
Then she went somewhere- no toon knew where. All Tisha knew was that Shelly needed some more space and such..

☆ Not much to say here, Shelly is about the same but less. Since she never had that whole step further into the whole relationship she is less sad but tries to keep up emotionally- kinda pushing that feeling to the side and not let you see that it had a small effect on her.
☆ Talks a little less when in a room alone with you, kinda can't help but have her mind just go back to being rejected.. She honestly didn't know why you rejected her.. you never told her or gave any explanation- just shot her down like you would do any toon else.. Wait.. was it just her who got rejected? Wait- were you with a toon and she never knew so- holy heck if she did! Oh she would've come off so- ugh! Is that why you would keep your distance?
☆ Girl starts to conceptionalize everything she knows of you and such- what if’s and could be’s started to connect dots that weren't even there! She starts to overthink everything- were you even friends with her? Did you just have her around?
Girlie is spiraling SO hard it's not funny..
Dyle
☆ Close to Astro he doesn't fuss or try to persuade you on the subject, he knew it would happen eventually as much as he never really wanted his mind to wander off to those considerations.. Just a simple nod and good luck partings.
☆ As a twisted he didn't really try to attack you, he picked up on your scent immediately- he did go to you at first, his memory is slowly catching up with him with each encounter.
○ You would feel the way Dyle nudged you ever so slightly like he was accepting comfort that he much needed, not caring at the slightest touch of discomfort he felt- though it could be argued that his twisting is what has him in such agony.
☆ He slowly realizes through the fog in his brain that you and him did break up, as sad as it was to recount it- he really didn't know how to take it. The second you were on the floor you couldn't tell if he was mad at you or not or just minding his own business.
○ You would notice the way the twisted kept more distance, tail curling around his base ever so slightly as he buried his head in his arms.. You never saw a twisted do that- well there was Twisted Goob - which hugged himself when he lost sight of toons.. Just never thought seeing Dyle do something of the similar nature.
☆ You started to bring him candies and or protein bars to eat, do twisteds get hungry? Though when you do pass by him in his shop you do notice him sort of just- sit there blanked out.
☆ He is probably the most like.. closest to you out of some not gonna lie. From both Astro and Sprout he is still your best friend, and yes there is some small tension but if anything Dyle is happy y'all didn't just break up and never talk again because that was maybe the second worst thing he could come up with besides you dying or twisting- which was mostly the same thing to some degrees.
{Rejection Route}
☆ When he came out to liking you, he half expected to be shut down so it wasn't a real surprise when you did state that you didn't harbor the same feeling he did. Like Astro there isn't really a crazy amount to say about him.
☆ Again like in the breakup headcanons Dyle is still your best friend, still tension, the only thing that changes mostly is his twisted interaction(s).
☆ Like in the breakup headcanons he noticed you immediately via scent, (stronger if your a food based toon or have a costume that is food based ex: Neapolitan Ice Cream skin for Goob..) so there is no way your getting past him without him at least knowing of your presence somewhere near or far beyond on the edge of the floor on the almost skipped over areas.

○ In Dyle's mind which is in shambles to some degree- still tries to be your best friend. And which could lead to two routes 1: Double down on the rejection - yell at the massive twisted to piss off and such for him to regress back to curling into a ball. Or route 2: Accept such friendship and let that flower bloom causing Dyle to relapse into love. Which- as a twisted, he isn't thinking clearly so he sees the whole thing as a competition. More parallel to animals and how they try to impress the other? Yeah.. that.
☆ So it's either A. Refuse him while you have the chance. Or B… If you're really into the whole thing of one-sided, possessive, and overall clingy.. I guess you're at the right place?
○ Overall takes place after he remembered he was rejected or broken up with- which also have two routes = same ending. In which he remembered you and him breaking up but since you still keep him close and such he takes it as a way to still be close with you. That and the main reason for the breakup was the fear that surrounded twisting and watching the other twist or figure out the other twisted..
☆ Since Dyle was technically the same - in his mind at least - he saw it as a revolutionary thing where you and him could date now that he was twisted. He doesn't kill you and harvest your ichor or whatever twisteds do to toon after death and before twisting, he can protect you.. The hard part is over. The bump in the road to the lovers zone has been fixed, all you two had to do was make it work..
○ Now Dyle has never been in a relationship, he always was.. interested in the topic, but otherwise paid no mind to it. So feeling as if the biggest curveball comes by and happens to only pass is a feeling.. He is free to pursue a relationship free of any real consequence.. Like yeah, you could twist- but you and him have each other!
☆ Imagine being condemned to a set of rules your whole life, to be so free but be held back by the feeling of missing out.. ○ Other than that he literally chases you down, even if you hide in a spot where his ass can't fit HE HAS PATIENCE. He had to be patient for years so he is like- able to just sit there.. The only reason he doesn't obliterate the hiding spot is because he could hurt you badly..
So yeah pray you never get Dyle card floor 9 or go on any Dyle runs.
