Recreate the delicious Chinese buffet-style donuts at home with this simple recipe. These donuts are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a delightful hint of vanilla.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup milk. 2 tbsp melted butter. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Vegetable oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Stir in milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir to form a dough. On a surface dusted with flour, gently knead the dough and roll it out to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Cut the dough into the appropriate shapes, or small squares. In a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C. The dough pieces should be carefully inserted into the heated oil and fried until golden brown, turning occasionally. After removing the donuts from the oil, use paper towels to absorb any leftover oil. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the warm donuts. Present and savor!
