Caretaker finally being able to be with Whumpee in the aftermath of something terrible - a panic attack, an illness, an injury, abuse - and doing what they can to make Whumpee comfortable. Maybe offering them water, treatment, a hug, comforting words. Caretaker is unsure what Whumpee even needs, but just wants to help them feel better.
Then, Whumpee lets out a tiny sound - something between a sob and a gasp. Caretaker freezes, panic and guilt rising. “Oh God - did I - did I hurt you? I didn’t mean -”
Whumpee shakes their head hard, burying their face in their own hands or Caretaker's shirt. It takes a long moment before they speak, their voice muffled and raw. “No. It’s just… this is the first time someone’s been here. After.” Their eyes lift to Caretaker, wet and shining. “The first time anyone helped.”
