❗TW: blood, injury, character death, bright colors ❗
Season 4 was so ass i started doing PMV for my AU
Like, I'm very lazy and if I'm starting animating (ok, it's not animation, but still)- the situation is reeeeeeeeally bad, lol. It's not so great, but I'm still pretty proud of my work. I will be doing a master-post for this animation of a story, probably in next month :p
Also big thanks to ppl who gave me their elia-ocs. They're so cute :3
A small unspoken rule about eliatropes that I thought was really cool.
Random thought bubble I wanted to share, but I specifically remember a time when season 1 and 2 were so prevalent on netflix that it made me headcanon a small detail that I really thought was super cool.
It was based on the eliatropes and I made up this small little fact in my head about how their hair would completely whiten up if their wakfu had been drained up.
You can obviously tell that I took this concept from season 1 during Yugo and Nox's fight when the latter actually won and took out everything in Yugo.
LIKE JUST LOOK AT THIS.
Dude I was so captivated by that scene, I kept replaying it over and over again just to see if I was seeing things or not. Because at the time, I thought maybe my mind was playing tricks with me and Yugo's dirty blonde hair wasn't whitening up, but was just wildly clashing with the light between Nox's hands which was why it SEEMED like it was white rather than actually being white. That scene happened so quickly after all.
It turns out it wasn't a headcanon, BUT AN ACTUAL FACT.
Like eliatropes really do get their hair color erased when their wakfu just gets drained out of them. At the time, I thought that was so cool, but I always found it weird how Qilby hadn't mentioned or implied anything about eliatropes looking completely vulnerable without their wakfu to the point where they'd lose their pigmentation. Even when season 4 happened, Nora and Efrim never really say anything about how an eliatrope looks like when they die.
When we saw Chibi die in that Oropo special episode, we couldn't really determine if his pigmentation got erased since he already had white hair.
(At least it's officially confirmed now that eliarropes do lose their eliatrope wings when they die.)
But besides all that, I JUST KNOW THEY LOSE THEIR PIGMENTATION AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE.
Tot's just playing mind games with his little details and not saying anything about them.
We all saw that Yugo death scene and that hair was DEFINITELY white.
Am I the only one that's a bit disappointed one of the season 5 specials is going to be the first episode of Waven?
I mean, depending on which airs first (this one or the Flopin episode), this might as well be the very last Wakfu special ever, and you're telling me it's gonna be set during Waven?
I personally would have much rather it be set during the aftermath of the Necro War, covering Armand's funeral and Amalia's coronation, the Brotherhood reuniting and catching up since Inglorium, the Sadida Kingdom picking up the pieces after the war, Yugo and Amalia deciding they want to get married... You know, everything we wanted to see but was compressed into a wedding ceremony at the very end of the season.
Or, if that was too much to ask, maybe take a page out of previous specials and explore Toross and the Necroworld's past. How things used to be before he abused the power of their Dofus and what led him to making that decision in the first place.
Come on, we don't even know what race he used to be! (I mean, he was most likely an Iop, because, Ankama, but at least he isn't as overbearing as other examples).
Hell, this would have been the perfect chance to explore Nora and Efrim as characters by retelling their journeys through the Krosmoz in search of Eliatrope! It certainly would have been nice to see who Efrim used to be before he became a Necro.
But nooooooo. Instead, we're gonna follow Élely, yet another Iop, around. Admittedly, a character whom I personally couldn't care less about and that already hogged plenty of spotlight in season 3; certainly more than the other main female characters such as Amalia (the supposed deuteragonist of these later seasons) and her own mother. Something I find to be particularly annoying, especially if they keep her original characterisation where she's just a slightest bit more strategic female version of Pinpin.
I mean, she's even gonna be missing an arm, for crying out loud!
I wouldn't mind so much if the special were just set in Waven and we had a chance to see what happened to Yugo, Amalia, and Adamaï after The Great Wave. But no. It's not just a special set during Waven—it's the first episode of Waven. And since the fate of previous protagonists in sequel stories tends to be a mid-season/season finale twist, chances are we are indeed just going to follow Élely around.
I’m gonna infodump under the cut abt what the plot was gonna be
But before that, here’s some skeletons!
I should’ve had Eliatrope be on her own layer but oh well. I’m no bueno at composition so I don’t think the poses are really that clear when you see everyone crammed in beside each other. Also, Chibi, Nora, and Mina ended up really covered.
(And don’t let me fool you into thinking I understand lighting btw, I used ibispaint HAX aka the relief filter for this…)
ANYWAY HERES THE STUPID LIL DETAILS OF THE AU:
So the gods are framed as working like a large extended family, but technically are not related. It’s more of a kinship. They’re all extremely dysfunctional people and most of them think they’re the one “in charge” and are constantly butting heads over this. Every (interim of time) they meet up for a reunion to kinda discuss current affairs, air out personal drama, and keep up with one another. Mostly so everyone always has an eye on everybody else’s weaknesses lol. And the incentive to keep attending them is just that, if you don’t, you don’t know what to use against anybody else. Not showing up is like admitting you have something to hide, which just puts attention on you.
Except Eliatrope, she just keeps showing up because she genuinely cares about everyone… 😭
She’s the oldest and should be the most powerful, but the 12 gods all view her as the MESSY one. That damn deadbeat husband of hers and all their damn kids she keeps bringing around. The other gods have children that show up to these things too, but they don’t bring ALL of them. She’s the easiest to prey on/get drama out of because she’s become an extreme pushover. She thinks she can mend their personalities eventually if she just keeps bringing everyone together and being nice to them all. She would be the matriarchal figure in any other situation, but unfortunately not here lol. I would say the only ones who are reciprocal to her kindness are Osamodas and Sadida? Osa is mostly polite, and because he’s so much older he has maybe a more true understanding of her importance. Not sure if he would just try to manipulate her for power or is thinking he should stay on her good side lol. Sadida is nice to her because he is a nice guy. Still conniving at times, but only when he needs to be to protect his domain. With some exceptions, the other goddesses are kind of mean girl PTA mom types. They don’t like Eliatrope because she doesn’t understand how the clique works, and they don’t like Sacrier because she DOES and disrupts it on purpose. Sacrier likes Eliatrope, but Eliatrope finds her a bit intense to get along with.
Goultard + any other god children, or literally anyone who it would be funny for them to appear, could also be there. I imagine he’s either super destructive and flips a food table or something because he’s like “fuck you dad!” Or idk he’s normal lol. I’m not in on the epic Goultard lore so you guys will have to tell me how you think he should act in this drama.
The eliatrope kids are all teens/pre-teens. I haven’t thought abt their exact ages but Nora + Efrim are the youngest. Not sure if Qilby + Shin ARE the oldest or if they just reasonably act that way. Might be funny if they’re young and the other siblings get annoyed at them for always acting “soOoo mature.” Mina is a very dramatic teenager who’s trying to get into fashion and being a cool girl. Phaeris is similar but in the teen boy direction and wants to start a band or something. They simultaneously think the other is lame and that they’re the only ones cool enough to hang out with each other.
Qilby n Shinonome HATE the “family gatherings” and all the other gods for constantly walking over their mama, but while Qilby spends most of his time plotting how to get back at them, Shin spends her time making sure Qilby doesn’t embarrass them all. (They scheme together sometimes, but she can’t let him go too far because sadly she cares about consequences.)
I could list every sibling’s personality briefly but that would take forever so 😭 uh here’s the short rundown: Glip+Balt are sport kids, Nora+Efrim are endless energy “when are we going home” “are we there yet” “can we get McDonald’s” kids, Yugo+Adamaï are themselves with no trauma, and I think that’s it?? Idk I don’t keep track.
Basically the characters stay the same but we get to make a bunch of funny scenarios by imagining them in a mid 2000s suburb enacting every TV trope known to man :3
