Feyre speaking about Elain:

It’s an interesting thing to see Azriel be portrayed as hopeful, I guess we learned to believe he is what he shows the world—the brutal, terrifying spy and torturer. But his brother, who truly knows him, finds this trait of his so prominent that he decides to mention it during such an important moment. It makes sense that he would love being near Elain, she too knows what it is to hope even in the darkness. It’s one of the many lovely symmetries of Elriel, very beautiful.

You know…call me crazy but if all Azriel wanted from Elain was sex, maybe the books would just show us that…like, we wouldn’t read about them chilling in the garden together so much, or her calling his biggest insecurity “beautiful”, or him being the only one to discover what’s wrong with her when “If anyone can sense if something is amiss, it’s a mate”, or her clinging to him for peace, or him literally only ever giving his personal blade to one person in his entire lifetime and that person being Elain, or her accepting a weapon because he is the one to give it to her, or him going to save her while knowing he was likely to die but not caring because she was in danger, or her giving him presents when she specifically never gave one to her mate, or him looking at headache powder every night because she’s the one that gave it to him, or him getting her a piece of jewelry that was perfectly tailored to her, or her asking for him to immediately put it on her because she loves it so much, or them almost kissing despite all that is at risk if they do…

Idk, I kind of feel like SJM could have just said they want to fuck if that’s what she meant. But maybe that’s just me. 🫶🏼

It honestly feels like an ACOTAR fandom rite of passage to despise every male character who ends up with an Archeron sister. First, Rhys was dragged through the mud with the wildest takes imaginable. Then, Cassian was scrutinized for every single thing he did in his relationship. Now, Azriel is still mostly well liked—but only because people are hoping he’s destined for literally anyone except the woman he has made it painfully obvious he wants.

And the once they’re together? Oh, the meltdown will be glorious. We already got a preview of the chaos when his own POV in the bonus chapter made his need for Elain undeniably clear. The backlash? Brutal. Violent. Hilarious. And that was just a few pages.

I can only imagine what’s coming when there’s an entire book for people to spiral over. All hell will break loose. I, however, will be far too busy thriving and watching my babies live happily ever after to care about the drama.

It took one chapter for Azriel to decide he will do what he needs to, despite being ordered differently. I think we will get to see his defiance towards a certain Archeron being forbidden, as well. 🫶🏼🫶🏼

You wanna hear something i’ve been thinking about? What if in addition to Elain’s power of sight/seer-ness, she can also alter others’ perceptions…

Like, she can weild a glamour-like power where she twists how people see things. Wouldn’t be too far fetched as someone who’s power is having visions, being able to use her mind to find something, seeing the future, etc.

Wouldn’t that be a very helpful skill to have as a potential spy? As well as hiding her potential secret lover in plain sight…
