had a little bit of free time to work on dolls today, decided to use it to dremel down the neck on my recently acquired Supia body to make it fit the Elfdoll K head i got it for. this is just the rough dremeled stage still, i haven't sanded anything yet

left is the pic of the unmodded body with a K head on it that the person i bought it from took to show me how feasible the hybrid might be; right is post-today's dremel session with my K head. color match sucks for sure but all his parts are getting painted anyway so i don't care

from the front the fit looks good now but from the side you can see i still have another round to go with the dremel before i sand all this smooth. i was trying to preserve some of the sculpting at the front of his throat but the shape is awkward in profile and needs more work/reduction. the head does fit now tho so that is some progress...

This sales thread showing K with a more modern faceup threw into stark focus that I currently love older, familiar sculpts with more colorful paint jobs.

The old two-colors-of-paint faceups had their own charm but the current style of "more colors the merrier" is my jam. I really need to faceup more of my dolls. 😅

How many colors can you squeeze onto one face? All of them? Very good.

Figured it's about time I shared a pic of my (relatively) recently acquired Elfdoll K. Currently she is on an unmodded male body but I will be attempting to sculpt a bust for her when I get the chance.

I just got the proper eyes for her last week, how does she look? I like the vulnerability, she is in a house full of villians after all.

At the risk of sounding like someone who stereotypes re: gender, I personally like that the vulnerable look makes her seem more feminine to me. Mainly it's because of my own impression and worries that the sculpt felt too masculine at first on the body, not because feminine characters have to be vulnerable, it's just a personal preference thing I have for this specific doll.

That and, well, the villains. :3c

(this is supposed to be a mini me, I'm working on her wig and stuff, I just need the yarn for it! but once I saw that face and that expression I knew she'd be perfect. I love tormenting my self inserts ngl, so it works for the level of Concern she'd have being around the likes of Shigadolly and Dabi-BJD and all.)

well Elfdoll K came super clean inside and out! in addition to the large amount of faceup residue in the ears, lips, and eye areas and just a layer of dirt all over the face, there was a lot of old dried on eye putty and eyelash glue inside the eyewells, weird unidentified sticky stuff and cat hair in the inside of the head, a strange brown stain in the neckhole, and adhesive goop from a velcro dot on the headcap that i assume was used to hold a wig on at one time? idk i have never used those

anyhow it all came off with Windsor and Newton brush cleaner, qtips, elbow grease, and plain dish soap and water, and his resin is in perfect condition underneath all that crap

now to decide if/how i want to mod him...i think i want to mod him 😬

he's an Elfdoll K and he's so gross and dirty

behold his grumpy nastiness, he is covered in remnants of old faceup

his insides are full of hair and gunk and his magnets are unglued

i don't usually impulse-buy BJD, but: his price was appropriate for his icky condition, which made him cheap enough to be impulse purchasable, i always used to think Elfdoll K was a super cool sculpt back in the day when i first got into BJD and Elfdoll was still an active company, and i was in a weird mood and just...did the thing

he's really terrible looking in person and it will be kind of fun to try and turn him into something! i have a vague idea in mind 🤔

anyway check out this beautiful man. poor Reyansh looks kind of plotty and evil even though i think he’s just thoughtful and contemplative
