If you're into sci-fi with a drop of horror, SIREN is such a great series. You really should check it out! Plus, if you dig mermaid folklore & mythology, it uses mermaids in one of the best ways I've seen in fiction. So often mermaids are sexualised in Western culture. It's weird. Here, the mermaids are vicious, though they also have a human form & they do learn the ways of human love. Yet they're presented as strong, fierce creatures, not beautiful women with fishtails. And there's just so much interesting stuff, including a polyamorous couple, a diverse cast of characters / actors, & thrilling plots. Season 2 just ended last night. Freeform's SIREN is such a great use of the mermaid folklore / mythology. The series has it all: sci-fi, horror, laughs, romance, & tons of emotion. Eline Powell as the main mermaid Ryn is fantastic. Alex Roe & Fola Evans-Akingbola are both awesome, too.
