person a doesn’t show affection easily, person b loves making romantic gestures. one time when they cuddle before falling asleep together, person a whispers shakespeare’s 75 sonnet into person b's ear and person b is so moved they start sobbing. that could be for anything, really!! I could so see it with billy from stranger things though
okay so i hope you don't mind but i actually turned this into some soft elmax cuddling instead! (i'm not a huge billy fan and writing for him would be too forced for me i hope you understand)
sorry if this got too long
• max's head rests against her girlfriend's shoulder, el's fingers threading through her soft hair in a steady motion while listening to the gentle melodies coming from the radio
• they've been like this for a while now, lounging around in el's room for hours, talking about everything and nothing
• max thinks she could die happily in el's arms, until a song she would hear billy blasting in his room comes on the radio and all she can see is billy and his bloody body cradled in her arms
• she gets up abruptly before el grabs her arm
• el's eyes are nothing but soft and questioning, and max thinks that maybe she should leave and not come back until she's calmed down
• but el looks at her so tenderly and so full of concern that it's impossible to think of a lie
• so she sinks back against el
• el immediately wrapping her arms around max
• "sometimes i miss him too much" max says
• "i don't know what's wrong with me"
• el's brows furrow in confusion
• "nothing is wrong with you, max" she says softly
• and that's helps, max thinks
• but she'd rather not think about it, so she reaches over to turn off the bedside lamp before turning over and tugging the blanket over her shoulders
• el softly sighs, wrapping herself around max
• "you know, yesterday i read a pretty poem that reminded me of you" el says
• "shakespeare's 75th sonnet, have you read it?"
• max shakes her head no, tugging el closer
• "so are you to my thoughts as food to life, or as sweet seasoned showers are to the ground" el begins
• "and for the peace of you i hold such strife... as 'twixt a miser and and his wealth is found..."
• she recites the poem in a gentle whisper, tucking max's hair behind her ear
• and max turns to face el as she finishes, tears beginning to pool in her eyes
• she gently presses a kiss to el's lips, hands holding either side of her face
• and both girls fall asleep in each other's arms, to the sounds of the radio and the rain hitting the roof
• and they know they'll both be okay
