Lol, I was thinking of your triangle imagery when I reblogged that gifset and then you added it to the very post 🥲
I like to call Stoncy the Isosceles so I think I am going to call these guys the Equilateral
hehehehehe a lot of fucking triangles in this show. Would love to know your reasoning behind why Stoncy is the isosceles!
Also like, the season 1 elmikedustin triangle is a nothingburger, right? It was only a hug with all 3 of them because it was supposed to symbolize their friendship and Lucas wasn't there because of conflict reasons. Had he been there, he would've been part of the hug, too, and it wouldn't be triangle imagery anymore.
But then season 3 happens. And El saves the Mall Base crew from the Russian soldiers. And there's the zoom in that focuses on El and Dustin seeing each other, which is completely unnecessary after they already zoomed in on both groups to establish they are meeting up. And so you're like "Hm. Why was that there." And after, Mike and El toss themselves onto Dustin, with El being the focus of the shot. And then, when that fuckass slug is inside her leg, only Mike and Dustin are holding her, even though Lucas and Max are there as well and Max has already developed a good relationship with El this season. But no. Just Mike and Dustin with El. And Mike is cradling her head, and Dustin is holding her hand. In the season where El is becoming her own person and stepping away from Mike a lil bit. So you're like "Huh. Why did they do that. Hm. 🤔" And it recontextualizes the first season.
And then you learn that in S4, the willeldustin hug in the finale was supposed to be just El and Dustin, but they changed it. In the season where El and Mike couldn't be more split. Huh. Hm.
And now they are going through the same arc in S5... And they are probably gonna meet up in the Upside Down... In the season that El and Mike are most undefined after 18 months of just focusing on Vecna instead of themselves... And the only one-on-one between El and Mike so far was mostly about Dustin... Hm...
Food for thought, is all I'm saying!
mourning love triangle/trio/ot3 we could've had
I think that if somebody watched henderhop and milevens edits, and then started watching Stranger Things for the very first time...
They may actually believe (or simply hope) that Mike x El x Dustin would be some kind of love triagle in the future, basing it solemnly on the shots from s1 that were oftentimes focusing on this trio (not necessarily saying that Lucas wasn't there bc he was, but that trio was always standing way closer to one another whereas Lucas was more to the side for some reason), or the fact that Mike and Dustin were given the most scenes where they interacted (positivly) with El.
