Winds from Hurricane Irma blew so hard that it drained the water right out of Tampa Bay. This caught some manatees off guard and they got stranded in the now waterless bay. Luckily a few citizens decided to do something and worked to move 2 of the manatees back into open water. Unfortunately 2 other manatees weren't as lucky. Rescuers said they tried but they didn't have enough manpower to move the manatees that were stuck in sand like mud even after a valiant effort. This right here is one of the many reasons we are building the @keyconservation app. Our In-person feature would send out alerts to local supporters about volunteer opportunities happening in real-time. There is nothing worse when you are in a fight against the clock to save an animal and you need help. We make it easy to send out alerts immediately which are then sent as push notifications to people in that area not around the world who can't actually help. Help us make this app so we can help make this a possibility! We are excited to announce our⚡️new initiative⚡️to help conservationists #endendlings (the last individual of its species)!🐢We are building a mobile app📱that will fill gaps of funding and support in real-time, while also allowing new ways for conservation orgs to get help and new ways for supporters to give it.

It’s not just about money💰anymore! (Although that is still needed and an option!) Supporters can give their professional skills through our Skilled Impact feature. Imagine saving a conservation orgs thousands of dollars by fixing their patrol vehicle🚙or by helping them build an outreach campaign! 📡

Our In-Person feature allows conservation orgs to send out push notifications about real-time volunteer opportunities to people in their area. 🗺 Ensuring the ones that can help are seeing their request and can act quickly. Got a patrol car stuck in the mud, is a big storm washing away your gear💨or maybe you need a fast response to get help an animal in need.🐯This feature will make sure the right people at the right time see it to help, plus these alerts update as the supporter travels so they can always be ready help!👋

There are so many other features in the @keyconservation app but first we need to get it built! To spread the word about our campaign on @indiegogo (link in bio) we wanted to feature #conservationists💪that have examples of how the @keyconservation app could help them fill gaps of funding and support. ⚡️🌱Check out this preview of the @keyconservation mobile app!🌱⚡️ Here is the background on these clips. It shows a biologist that needs help rescuing a leatherback sea turtle. The biologist takes a video of what is happening and sends it out to supporters, which goes on the real-time LIVE Feed within the app. We then see a supporter scrolling through the @keyconservation LIVE feed and come across this request for help. The supporter then clicks into our biologist's post to see how they can help. (More footage on ways to help in our next post!) Continuing on, our biologist, after using the contributions from supporters to complete the rescue, takes a video to send out to updates to those who helped. We then see a supporter who gave receiving a push notification saying that there is an update to the project that they supported! They then get to be on the front lines of conservation seeing a leatherback sea turtle that was going to get poached but because of their help it has returned safely to sea and conservation projects receive support in new and more powerful ways! This is actual footage from one of our friends who is working on a sea turtle project and stopping this sea turtle from being poached. 🐯📩Are you an organization that needs help filling gaps of funding and support? But in 2007, it was rediscovered. Recently, 150 hatchlings from the species were released back into that habitat. Our colleague with @TheWCS Cambodia, Mengey Eng writes about the project on #WCSWildView.
