Random Engineer Headcanons

He is farsighted and need to wear glasses with thick lenses to see. His googles have prescriprion lenses

He’s confident and laidback as long as he’s in his comfort zone

Outside his comfort zone Dell is kinda awkward and might end up lashing out because he feels embarrased - often by pulling the ‘I’m smarter than you’-card

He thinks of himself as the responsible merc - but his sense of safety and responsibility is kinda warped

He has three modes: 1) Hyperfocused on inventing one specific gadget, 2) Maniacally jumping from one invention to the next and 3) Loafing around by either drinking beer in his chair, grilling, playing his guitar and hanging out with the other mercs

His very strong and muscular but also a bit fat. He carries his weight on his chest, stomach, ass and thighs

Mercs Biggest Insecurities

Request: Hi :) I want to make a request. What are the mercs biggest insecurities? If not all the mercs then maybe Sniper, Engineer and Soldier :)

Is always questioning how he ended up here, he’s aware of how exactly, but mainly questions why? Why was it him that went through this? Honestly wishes that he was independent, able to do jobs at his own pace while living with his parents. He misses them everyday.

How he might never get to raise a family like how he always wanted. He was always a family man especially due to his family being large and family oriented. But with his current job and how he’s very unlikely to quit, he’s scared that he won’t ever get to be a father like he wanted.

Not that he would let anyone know (Except Zhanna maybe) but he’s insecure about his iq. Like he’s aware that he’s definitely not the smartest merc around but always thought he was smarter than he actually is. In his more… stable moments, he tends to spiral, what his life could’ve become if he changed one thing. Always tries to avoid these moments by doing what he normally does.

✨Red Engineer Headcannons part 2! Plus Spy x Engie Headcannons!✨

Engineer does not consider himself gay or any other sexual orientation but he likes both men and women!

Engineer raised Pyro since Pyro was about 13 years old. Engineer is fluent in sign language and Pyro mumbles.

After the fire Dell was so pissed at his younger brother (whose name is Arthur) that he went to the prison just to beat the hell out of him.

Engineer was in love with Pyros mother and he still has a picture of her and Pyro pre-burn under his pillow.

Engineer had two different color eyes (one brown and one blue) before the accident with his eye. He shared this with his twin but now he only has blue eyes. (His twin brothers name is Mac)

Dell loves the smell of Blu spy’s perfume so much that he has his own bottle of it in his sock drawer. Red spy wears cologne and Blu Spy wears perfume.

Spy’s name is unknown to everyone but Dell. Engie is so good at hiding that he knows Spy’s name that Spy worry’s that Engie forgets.

Even before Spy and Engie were a couple Spy would stay up with Engineer during thunderstorms knowing that he was scared.

Spy and Engineer have a secret code that tells them when they are both telling the truth. Engineer is a very good liar and Spy cannot for the life of him read him. The code is two fingers on your wrist.

Dell has chronic pain in his arm stump and headaches because of his missing eye.

Dell knew Soldier far before Soldier knew him. Engineer meet Soldier before Soldiers brain damage and forgot him. Thats why they are so close too.

Dell is not very close to red Spy but after getting with Blu he respects him a lot more and they have since become good friends.

Dell will never admit it but he is kinda scared of Heavy. He doesn’t show it and he is very close friends with him but he fears him on the battle field.

Engineer is very close with Medic and finds his dark humor more than amusing. Engineer did have a small crush on Medic for a little bit but that has since passed.

Engineer sees both Pyro and Scout as his kids. Scout talks to Engineer about all of his problems and Engineer loves listening to it and gives him all his best advice. Engineer basically told Scout that Scout 100% bi and welp now he is.

Dell HATES the other team Engineer and he harasses him whenever he gets a chance!

I've bitched about this before, but apparently some of you have reblogged my older Engineer-related posts, so I thought I might as well mention this: That's all fine, but I just wanted to say that some of the info I shared turned out to not stem from a real/official source. 🙃

The idea that Engineers can't reproduce, for example, is from a fan-made draft script. 🫠

There's nothing to confirm this idea at all anyway, even when I looked through the comics.

A part of the comics, however, is that they have telekinesis! That's pretty cool. It's canon to me LMAO.

Sentry Nest Headcanons

•Engineer nests are broken down into two categories: short-term (30 minutes to 4-6 hours), and long term (6-12 hours to several weeks)

•Short term nests will only consist of core buildings, but long-term nests will be furnished like an actual living space. They’ll have their own chairs, makeshift beds, and other amenities.

•Long term nests require someone to be alert at all times, so engineers will usually sleep in shifts. You can’t sleep for long on the battlefield, so just get what you can and switch.

•Speaking of sleep, it’s not uncommon for engies to literally sleep on the floor. Don’t mess with them, just try to work around them if you can.

•In long-term nests, there will usually be a dispenser that serves as a vending machine. They’re usually stocked with bags of trail mix, potato chips, and poor-quality beer.

•There’s been so many sentry nests in 2fort that they have their own designated areas now.

•No matter how many engineers there are, no matter how much they like each other, a fight will always break out over building placement. It's like kids fighting for room during a car ride.

Dell loves waking up early in the morning, it's an old routine that was drilled into him as a child. It reminds him of the long days working hard with his Pa in the hot Texas sun.

The first thing he does early in the morning is make himself a nice cup of dark roast coffee and sitting down to enjoy the silent atmosphere of the base.

Afterwards he goes to his workshop until Soldier wakes the rest of the team up for breakfast.

When on days off he would either spend it in his workshop working on new devices or pet projects. Or he would drive into town and enjoy the idealistic scenery and the simple lives that the people live. People watching has always been a hobby of his. Despite it being more essential to Spy's profession he loves listening in on simple conversations or guessing where people were in a hurry off to.

When on the battlefield he struggles to find a good spot within the shade and sun so that he doesn't burn. Despite being born in Texas and dealing with the heat all the time, he gets burned so easily.

Getting caked in blood is a hazard of the job. He doesn't enjoy it. Listening to the screams and gunshots all day long takes a toll both mentally and physically. He does gain a sick pleasure whenever he guns down a spy, as sick as it sounds. It's just so satisfying to deal with a snake that's been a pain in his side the whole day.

Getting back from the battle is always a relief. It's like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders. He loves to take long showers after a good match. Washing off the blood, dirt and grime makes him feel like a new man.

When getting ready for bed he gets out his creme colored cotton pajamas and makes himself a nice cup of herbal tea. Strumming his guitar or working on blueprints usually lulls him to sleep.

I love the idea that Engineers can feel through their suits. Due to being so technologically advanced, the suits they wear are basically fused to their bodies for as long as they wear them.

Like if someone gets curious, and runs their hand (gently) up the upper spine of an Engineer, they can feel it, like it's one of those sensitive spots.

It probably causes shock/surprise more than anything, lol.

I'm.. not too sure. I find men, women, and well, anyone attractive, but I don't really care for relationships.

It jus' doesn't really interest me to have a romantic relationship- right now anyways. Things might change, but I'm still trying to figure stuff out
