Thinking about esmp gods. i feel like theres approximately three 'generations' of gods that have existed on the server: the titans, from pix' season two, which included lizzie and jimmy's mother (who canonically wasnt a god but was blessed by them but shhhh. we can do whatever we like forever)

but anyways, next up after the titans were the old gods, a generation that lasted for thousands of years, and included both the seablings and aeor and exor. they are two slightly different kind of pantheons though. at the time the oceans and the land were very very separate, and so while aeor and his peers fell in an attempt to defeat exor, the seablings weren't exactly. involved. if they knew they were gods at all at the time!

the events of the rapture unfortunately did kill or permanently put to rest the deer gods alongside the rest of their pantheon, and without them being able to prove their existence, belief in them faded and they lost any power to interact with the world. since the seablings took more physical forms and resided in the oceans rather than their own godly plane, they run no risk of fading into nothingness by lack of belief, however the rapture did wipe their memories yk the drill.

the third generation of gods, however, was generated by the rapture or after it. santa pearla was 'canonised' after dying with her empire, and has been the goddess of harvest and fertility ever since. god joel became a god within his lifetime through. ambiguous means that he wont share. in order to remain by lizzies side, even if she never remembers him, at least he'll be there. i think there were other gods created by similar means to like. fill out the pantheon since joel does imply in his series that there are other gods besides him and pearl. so uh yeah, if the seablings ever remember, they would be kinda part of two generations as part of the second generation of gods AND still around for the third.

How I think each of the s1 and s2 Empires characters would react to seeing each other.

False is kinda terrified of Pearl, but overall thinks she's cool. Pearl wants False to be her new sparring buddy (like, the woman built a machine to murder giant hunks of metal and wears clothes she pilfered from a corpse, of course Pearl would love her). False doesnt understand that this is a statement of affection and is even more terrified.

The Scotts are just the 'Misery and CPR' meme. Elf Scott keeps talking about his demon brother and tragic backstoryTM, and the Chromia king just goes "oh yea a magic skull stole my eyeball and a wizard gave me a new one.' Eventually they start talking about their bfs and become friends ('my husband rescued me from a dungeon so I built him a cave full of his favorite things' 'nice. My boyfriend just shows up randomly and gives me wood').

The Jimmys absolutely confuse the hell out of each other. The Codfather just off-handedly talks about his traumatic past in between bouts of how awesome his sister and brother-in-law are. He's a god and totally unbothered by it, while the Sheriff keeps grumbling about God calling him a toy when he is Not A Toy. They introduce each other to the other Norman.

The Sausages just point at each other like the spiderman meme. They joke about their trauma while still smiling. They coo over Bubbles together. The protector of Sanctuary talks about Eddie and Hermes. The king of Mythland talks about his little siblings and how much he loves them; he also mentions his best friend who sounds suspiciously similar to the sunflower goddess...

The Joels HATE each other. God Joel keeps making fun of the Mad King for being short and made of clay and he just laughs his ass off, doesnt acknowledge him, and rants about how amazing his fish wife is. God Joel feels insecure and angry, the Mad King is offended because someone is ignore how AMAZING AND WONDERFUL his wife is.

The Pixls have a wonderful afternoon drinking and spilling tea. They discuss philosphy and history, they lovingly make fun of Jimmy, they compliment each other's empires.

Shrub and Shelby are instant friends. Shrub is kinda scared of Shelby because witches could mean bad news, but Shelby instantly introduces Tortoise and all goes well. They talk about their different magic, Shelby gives a whole bundle of potions to the wolves. They talk about how cute Katherine is and mom-friend Joey.

The Joeys respect each other. They arent that close, but they think each other are cool. They fight over if Katherine or Xornoth is better; neither wins but they have fun coming up with compliments for the people they like (they also talk as if said objects of affection love them back).

The Katherines go monster hunting together. Overgrown Katherine talks about her awesome gnome gf. Glimmer Grove Katherine complains about her suitor that cant seem to understand that she isnt a pirate.

At first, the fWhips bond over chaos and destruction. 'I put wardens in half the server's bases to thank them for coming to my wedding' 'I created a ravine.' All goes well until Jimmy gets brought up. Count fWhip complains about the whole 'board of dead salmon' thing, and Goblin fWhip jumps to his defense. They get into a big ol fight and make up a little while later.

The Gems, while amicable, dont really like each other. Wizard Gem thinks Princess Gem's a scardy cat, and Princess Gem thinks Wizard Gem is too intense and a little scary. They do have fun talking about fWhip and Sausage though.

Mayor Lizzie is both a little intimidated by the ocean enpress, and also thinks she's super cool. She's an actual strong, tall, powerful god (unlike the one from Stratos). She is a little scary, though, cause of the army of axolotls and the whole water thing. The ocean empress thinks she's nice (and kinda funny); Mayor Lizzie really reminds her of her friend with his empire of cats before he got corrupted...

Empires smp thoughts: Modernization

Someone pointed out that the empires smp s1 cast are royalty, compared to what the s2 cast is. With the thousand year time skip, royal bloodlines have been made nonexistent. With the empires collapsed and no suitable heir, the survivors of the rapture developed modern governments. With the exception of Glimmer Grove, the Order of succession for the rest of the continent is not hereditary. Hence why none of the rulers refer to themselves by noble titles, unlike S1. “It’s mayor actually” The only other princess is Gem, who is self proclaimed.

Modernization includes technology as well. The S1 cast endured long meetings and communicated through letters deliver by messenger bird. The type of bird carrier varied between empire. (Rivendell used snow owls, Lost Empire had parrots, etc) They only resorted to communicators in emergency situations; whereas in S2 timeline, unless they are discussing trade deals, a communicator is all they technically need.

Due to most written text being destroyed, the only preserved document the historian guild has access to is the Ocean Queens journal; which has faced considerable damage. A thousand years has changed a lot of the language. The letters found in the ruins has a vastly different writing structure, compared to universal ‘Common.’ It’s the empires equivalent of Shakespearean English compared to modern English. This has caused much context to be lost in translation.

little empires hermes headcanons i have!

hermes only knows how to read spanish and ancient greek, they can speak modern english but luckily for his dads they can’t read it

hermes is selectively mute, if they don’t know you/barely know you? as quite as a mouse not even a scream if he gets scared. sorta know them? only talk in single words like: hungry, hi, bye, where dad?, ect. know them closer like eddie or lizzie? a little shy but still talks a fair amount. your joel or sausage and no one else is around? he hasn’t stopped talking but it’s adorable

hermes uses he/they and prefers to be called child instead of son

hermes call sausage papi/papa and joel dad/dada

hermes slow blinks at you like a cat to show that they like you

hermes has to bathe in the fountain about once a week to insure he doesn’t become just a shulker again

hermes wears typical stratos clothes in sanctuary and sanctuary style clothes in stratos

hermes steals sausages scarf when at stratos or just not at sanctuary

Hello lonely traveler can i over you some empires Oli headcanons 🤝

-Oli os still used to being an enderman and sometimes (a lot of the time) forgets he isn't anymore

-Although no longer an enderman, he can still talk to them and understand their language perfectly

-Like one time Lizzie got stuck up a tree ans Oli went "Don't worry, I got this." And just stood there for 2 minutes trying to teleport before grabbing a ladder

-He still has a relatively high aversion to water but he's making steps towards getting used to it

-Sometimes he just gets the people he knew in Afterlife confused with the people in Empires and he'll go "oh remember when this happened" and they have no idea what the hell he's talking about

-Additionally most people concider Oli's tales to be like 70% made up stories he just made up to share

-Kind of has a grudge against saint Pearl after seeing Afterlife!Sausage just in her house permanently asleep

-Which sometimes makes him scared of Hermitcraft!Pearl because they look identical

-Does sometimes double check to see if Sausage doesn't secretly have wings or a halo
