Ok, as much as I enjoy the “lesbian and her himbo” trope, I feel like people always center the man instead of the lesbian. It’s like, I feel like I always see people praising Steve for being so accepting to Robin instead of people actually liking Robin’s character. I especially hated when Robin and Vickie were talking at the end of S4 and they panned over to Steve’s reaction. It’s just like, why do we need the straight man’s approval of the lesbian relationship? I just think that it’s bad writing that the only lesbian relationship in the show barely passes the bechdel test, and they still managed to make it about the straight guy. Sorry if this makes no sense but it’s just something I’ve noticed. This happens in a couple fandoms but ST is one I’m currently interested in. It’s like no that straight guy is not the “protector of lesbians”. Butches are and have always been the protectors of lesbians (and other wlw). And there is such little butch rep in the mainstream. This may just be a GA thing. I’m not sure but it pissed me off. Tell me if this is inaccurate or something but I’m just annoyed.
