speaking of Hestia it reminds me of the little cauldron I have for her by my fireplace. me and my family have used it my entire life and it's our main source of heat in the winter. when I learned about Hestia's role in the home I decided to have a small honoring space for Her at the base of the fireplace with my mini cast iron cauldron. i mainly burn things in it so it felt appropriate. that was the only thing I could think of to add at the time, so it was the only thing there honoring Her.

so then about two months go by and I completely forget it's there. my memory is dogshit and my brain is permanently scrambled eggs so while I felt bad I couldn't really help it. i was ashamed I had neglected Her so I took the space down and decided to put it up again when I was in a better mental space.

any time I tried to light a fire after that, it would refuse to go. the flame would fizzle out or the fire itself would go, but just barely. i couldn't understand why I was suddenly struggling when I've been doing this for like 10 years, until I looked down and remembered Hestia. of course, the fires I made immediately took off once I restored her place at my family's heart. even if it was something as small as a mini cast iron cauldron, She loved it. She only got upset at me when I took it down, not when I couldn't prioritize it.

I think that's when I truly understood Hestia.
