So like did I ever post my thoughts about Everyman here? Like I have Thoughts About Him and his role in Deltarune. So. Yeah I will be talking about that now. Most of this is theorising with no substantial evidence but I still! Wanna! Talk about it!!
TL:DR: Everyman is the Chapter 5 Secret Boss, is a parallel to Ralsei and is meant to show how far he's come as a person, and is a Sentient Titan Spawn.
Anyhow ramble under the cut.
I think Everyman in Deltarune is actually two entirely different "things". One thing in the Light World that isn't a Lightner, and one in the Dark World that isn't a Darkner.
In the Light World, Everyman is the equivalent of a stickman. I'm absolutely NOT the first one to suggest this, but I think he's the equivalent of a stickman To The Prophecy.
Catty mentions how Everyone can be one of the three heroes, at least that's what believed in the Light World.
The heroes in the Light World aren't clearly depicted, so why not make a symbol that can both represent something that might be a Human and a Monster?
Ergo, the Everyman. Someone not quite Human or Monster, but a representation of both in the Light World, a symbol of everyone being able to be the three heroes.
This is what I think Everyman is in the Light World. A simple drawing representing the Heroes of the prophecy.
However, I believe he's something entirely different in the Dark World. And its probably something some other people have mentioned too.
I personally believe that Everyman, specifically in the Dark World, is a Titan Spawn. I'll get the specifics later, but yeah I think Everyman is a Titan Spawn. The reasons for this are mostly because of two things.
Everyman looks a lot like the Titan Spawn enemies we fight in the Third Sanctuary, mainly in eye and overall head/bodyshape
2. There's an unused object in Deltarune related to the everyman listed with other unused Titan Spawn objects related to a cutscene. The object itself is called Spr_darkshape_everyman_0
These two things do have counterevidence, obviously. The simple shape of the Titan Spawn and Everyman itself leads to similar designs, and Everyman is inverted meaning he could not be a Titan Spawn. Along with this, the object related to Everyman IS unused.
But I still believe Everyman could be a Titan Spawn, and a special Titan Spawn at that.
I believe Everyman is the Secret Boss of Chapter 5, and is meant to parallel Ralsei's arc about being his own unique person. It would be ironic that the symbol of the heroes in the Light World turned out to be part of the force said heroes are fighting, hence the distinction between his Light World and Dark World appearance being important.
Why is Everyman sentient? I don't know man, maybe the Shadow Crystal did it, maybe something else did. Either way, he'll appear in Chapter 5, and he just seems like a good (if weird) guy who wants to help people out. However, if you pursue him more throughout the Dark World, it becomes more apparent he's struggling with wanting to do genuine good, for following the Titan Spawns' path of destruction. Essentially, he's stuck between following his fate, or defying it and wanting to be a good person.
This is where Ralsei comes in, as someone who's similarily struggling with it. Throughout the chapter, he'll be the one to help Everyman come to terms with who he is, and what he wants. And in return, ends up helping himself.
The Secret Boss fight itself is essentially Everyman having an existential crisis about everything, getting so overwhelming his form abstracts and he lashes out. He doesn't want to be a bad person, but fate tells him to be that.
Ralsei fights him solo, and the fight is essentially Ralsei attempting to calm Everyman down. Upon the eventual calming of Everyman, he'll spill the beans about what he is, and gives Ralsei the Shadow Crystal. Everyman is thankful for all of Ralsei's help, and vows to do whatever he can to assist the Lightners. He hopes Ralsei also learns from his own advice, and grows more confident in who he is as a person too.
