Callum getting involved with city planning for Evrkynd, not only because he's travelling and studying a plethora of elven architecture in his free time while studying magic, and they want an intercultural influence, nor only as a favour to Ez (who's rebuilding Katolis at the same time) or because his penchant for art makes him good at drawing complex plans and designing buildings, but also because it gives him sway or leeway over where things go. He makes sure the city's academy of magic is close to and past the sparring fields (so he can walk and drop Rayla off on his way to his students); he makes sure they get the top floor of a flat building for the breeze he loves coming through Moonshadow-styled windows; he makes sure the city park has gardens full of her favourite flowers. He designs houses and buildings and city streets and walkways so each one will feel like home for them, because it is. Because you can create in the name of love just as much, if not more, than you can destroy.

Evrkynd headcanons :3

The palace is called the Palace of Peace.

The New Council is made up of elven and human clergy, politicians, military officers, and the royals.

Opeli was made head of the New Council (“If no one will give her a raise, we’ll give her an upgrade.” — Soren).

Duren and the Storm Spire’s riches were major funding allies for the building of Evrkynd, and that then led to a merging of Duren and Katolis to boost Evrkynd’s future and possibilities.

There are three separate libraries within the Palace of Peace; the main one, another purely for Xadian / human history, and a private magical studies library (thank you, Callum, for being a pain in Opeli’s ass about it :3).

🗣️‼️ EVRKYND IS A LIVEABLE AND AFFORDABLE CITY ‼️‼️ (Ezran screams as he gets dragged through a calming Durenian meadow with Aanya’s hand gripping his fluffball ponytail)

Irrelevant, but AVA HAS PUPS and I’m so normal about that idea ^w^

Stained glass / mosaic windows of important historical moments (Laurelion vs. Shiruakh, the Novablade, Katolis’ destruction, Duren’s famine, Callum becoming an Archmage, and hundreds of others all randomly distributed around the Palace of Peace).

Statues of historical figures in the middle of the “roundabouts” in the Palace because I thought it was a cute idea (Sarai, Domina Profundis, the Orphan Queen to name a few)

The Palace of Peace is pretty much just the epitome of history and, well, peace. There are so many ups and downs, and shit that had to get done and other shit that had to get scrapped and made up again, but eventually everyone settled on the Palace being this massive symbol of a new era.

Did we ever get confirmation on just what this new city is supposed to be? Is it a new democracy for all peoples that effectively replaces Katolis and the Sunfire Kingdom, or is it a just a city-state where everyone is welcome?

I was a little surprised to see people talking about how Evrkynd is replacing Katolis, since that’s not how I interpreted it at all. I figured Evrkynd would be kind of like Republic City, with the Four Nations still existing independently of it. After all, Katolis is a massive country, and only the capital city (or even just the castle?) was destroyed.

Plus I’ll be peeved if Ezran is no longer king.
