(1/24 scale) Poppins restaurant Worcester: Currently living in my spray booth and I've connected myself up to the airbrush... This all looks very neat and tidy but I was doing some thinking last night about process and what you don't see on Instagram, when we make an error! - I realised that when I make an error on one of my art pieces I don't panic or give up but instead I learn from the mistake. I take into account the possibility of starting over and this is something I've learnt to do through literally failing and failing hard at times but in the end I always learn for the next time. First baby steps of a successful feature

I could say that it starts with an amazing screenplay. I'm not going to be that guy. There is really only one thing you need. Money. Money can buy you everything in this world including a successful profession and your first, second, third... successful feature.

So, for the rest of us... there is no hope? Well, I will always stick to that money will be your number one success factor regardless of how good or bad a project is. I'm sure we have tons of opinions on bad movies that should never have been made.

Now, let's take a look at money. What is money? Well, it's a currency that measures value. Value is increased by a few factors, resources, demand and availability to mention a few of them. How can you then use this to generate value without money? Well, time is a currency and time equal money. Spend enough time on your project and it will be made, but you need to treat your time as you do with your money. Spend it wisely. Figure out how to spend more time than your own, there are other ways of paying for time than just money.

Ever heard, you need an amazing screenplay to produce a feature. Well, not true I would say. There are plenty of amazing screenplays that will not be produced. So...

There is a value chain to everything even in your life, larger corporations have them, smaller dose as well, every business does... if they recognize it and control it is a different thing. So I started to break down the value chain of a feature after my struggle with Balder - Worlds at the Horizon realizing how features are made and with made the process up until filming as its really there the features are made.

So my first advice to you trying to make it as film producers out there is... start to follow the money. Who will make money on my feature? Start engaging them with a plan, have a clear understanding of how these individuals, corporations and governments will make money on your feature, present them with a suggestion they cant resist. For example, when you talk to a government body. Don't tell them you need 50% grants to complete your project, explain to them how fantastic your project will be and what type of services you will need to buy in their region. Get them engaged early, make them understand the value of your project from their perspective and you will have their support. To them buying services equals more jobs and tax incomes, this will make them look good in the eyes of their boss and the people. So if you get them to understand the value of your project for them, they will do all they can to help you. 

There is a lot to learn about the value chain and when you can master it, you will come out winning in every business discussion you go in to.
