About Fangyue
I love it sometimes when a self-sacrificing character changes their mind. She did what she did for a long time. She gave up the lives she could have lived. She gave up her happiness for the safety of mankind. Everyone she loved she also had to give up, and eventually lose to old age. And it broke her heart over and over again. I love how she finally reaches the breaking point. She's done. She's done being the sacrifice. This person she now has she wants to keep until she dies.
About Fangyue and He Shouyue
There's also something very touching to me how He Shouyue starts out as a replacement. What there was between them had twisted origins. He was someone turned into something unnatural whose only focus was her. Someone who took the same face as the one she loves, so she could try to pretend she's still with him sometimes. And of course she knows it's not him. It doesn't really work. But they stick to it anyway. And then, as years go by, when the real man she knew has already gown old, there's suddenly been a lifetime's worth of moments with the replacement. And somewhere in the middle of it all, a new, unique and genuine love is born. And in the end, no one, not even her, can tell if she's projecting her feelings towards Zhong Xing into her relationship with He Shouyue, or if she's projecting her feelings towards He Shouyue into her memory of Zhong Xing. And it doesn't matter. What matters to me is that Fangyue and He Shouyue did spend one lifetime together, and they were able to make it meaningful. And that in the end it grew past what it was meant to replace.
her 🩷
Pudding Pudding, it's 5am and i can't stop thinking about Dream of Eternity merfolk au where the serpent is a water snake. I don't even know how it'd work, but mersnake!! Fangyue can't remember what color her tail was before she became the serpent
I had 3 months to rotate this idea in my brain and finally knew how to execute on this! I do wish to colour this at some point but I wanted to share what I drew today.
[image ID: a digital lineart drawing of Fangyue from Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity portrayed as merfolk. Her tail is that of a massive sea serpent. Her head is shrouded in long hair, flowing free and wild. Her arms are outstretched to the sides, her face tilted upwards. It might be a pose of power or of grief and anger. End ID.]
Let us die together then.
Can't believe He Shouyue tried to kill Boya, so he could hurt Qingming, the same way they had hurt him when Fanguye died.
