i keep rereading that thing of where eggsy is merlin's rebound but then he's really not and u mentioned pressing flowers which is such a big thing for me, and i've got a transparent book where u can keep the flowers u press and have them displayed, like a glass binder, and i can definitely see merlin leaving one like that on eggsy's desk one day, and smiling when he sees the dried pressed flowers in the glass book, pressed between the clear glass
AH YES! yes yes yes! i love that so much!!
merlin buying this binder-thing, still a little uncertain about romantic gestures and a little uncertain about this b/c while he’s seen eggsy pressing flowers, he doesn’t want him to feel obligated to /keep/ doing it if he doesn’t want to anymore, you know? but eggsy’s using up all of merlin’s phone books and those aren’t very pretty or nice to use, and eggsy deserves pretty and nice things
eggsy of course uses it right away, he’s absolutely thrilled and it feels so posh, you know? a kind of guilty pleasure kind of posh, b/c he’s pressed flowers before (when his mum’s boyfriends would bring her flowers, she’d teach him how to do it all sorts of ways, with books, with a microwave, etc.) but this feels Official and Professional and it makes him sort of chuckle to himself (another reminder of how far he’s come)
and he and merlin, years down the line, maybe two days before their wedding, they flip through the binder and reminisce about all of the bouquets merlin’s bought for him over the years ( “this was from our first fight--you always suck up with lilies, y’know” “the yellow one was for our second anniversary--seriously, i remember, i looked everywhere for sunflowers for it because the first place was out.” )
eggsy’s wedding bouquet, of course, gets it’s own special binder
