[I ready the exotic matter I had implied to night before, after most had gone to bed. Aphid as always was having trouble sleeping, but she knew about what I was doing.]
[I hurry to the cockpit, my steps pounding the metal of the ship’s floors. Hopefully nobody wakes up.]
[I reach the cockpit. I ready the throttle and eye the button.]
[I initiate the warp, and I tear through some 10,000 light-years to an even more remote location. Good…good…the low rumble of my comms fades a good amount. Almost safe enough to take off my compiled headphones, but I don’t risk anything. We’re farther out. We can warp nearly every hour, maybe even quicker if I can compile more exotic matter. The warp didn’t shake the ship much. We’re relatively good.]
[I kick back in the cockpit.]
Weeds…we’ll be out of here in no time…Terra forever, baby.
