It's really cute. The plot isn't super detailed, but for a short book that's fine. I liked their commitment to the clever little subversions. Overall it was pleasant and wholesome. #FFFebruaryReads for February 24: an F/F sci-fi or Fantasy • I got this book and at least one more sequel from a Kindle deal a few weeks back but I haven’t read it. 😅 Friends from Twitter have been recommending this, especially queer authors and readers, and I remember being piqued by the necromancy in the blurb, so I guess it should be pushed higher up the TBR pile. 😀 • “After being exiled to the farmland around her village, Rowan Northwood takes the only chance at freedom she might ever get: she runs away with a passing Knight and doesn't look back. The woman cares nothing for Rowan's company, yet she’s the first person who isn’t repulsed by the powers that burn within her. I liked it and I’ll rec it but be wary of the heavy themes. The Bone Witch series by Rin Chupeco also has well represented characters in an FF relationship but it’s main pairing is MF so I didn’t feature it for this prompt. • 🤔 Hmm... #FFFebruaryReads for February 17th: an F/F book you’ve read more than once. • I don’t usually reread books or stories these days bec I feel like my heap of undiscovered authors are piling up like Jenga but this anthology of queer short stories I know I’ve read at least twice. • For a long while, a lot of people have been looking for queer stories where the leads actually end up together romantically. Stories where none of them dies, and the gays actually get their HEA. We couldn’t find them, or we did sometimes, but we’re left dissatisfied and confused. This is #romanceclass’ answer to the gap in queer romance especially in the Philippines. And I’m so lucky and honored to have worked with amazing people so we can have this collection. ❤️ • The stories are not strictly FF (there’s MM and F/enby pairings in it) but the FF ones, I’ve enjoyed a lot. Delubyo by Barbie Barbieto is featured on my Kindle here bec it was where I stopped the last time I reread. #FFFebruaryReads Day 3: An F/F book from an #ownvoices author. • My first #romanceclass rec for this challenge! And this book is own voices both for it’s lesbian rep and Filipino rep! I read this two years ago and is probably my first FF book in which the characters end up together. • “With an overly zealous mother as her guide, 19-year-old Sam has never had problems navigating through Christian suburbia before. But, all that changes when she befriends and becomes intrigued with Clara, her widowed neighbor and the village’s social outcast. When their friendship grows into the “unnatural”, Sam is forced to examine her upbringing and come to terms with who she really is.” • In my GR review then, I said this was a slow-paced story but IDK if that’s accurate anymore, especially now that I’ve read more romance, and more stories that are really slowpaced. 😅 I did say I loved that it touched issues that are dubbed controversial and difficult, and I’m still so happy about that. The way this book tackled authentic queerness, from the first realization down to the struggle of acceptance is a personal highlight of mine. I also loved the treatment with the ‘villains’ as it offers a facet of what members of the LGBTQ+ community face in the country. #FFFebruaryReads Day 2: An F/F book you're predicting to 5-star. • I will admit that I haven't read an Alyssa Cole book despite EVERYONE telling me to (I really have a huge TBR, you guys, and I wish I was kidding when I tell people I'm a slow reader, huhu 🐢🐌) but she's in my romance bingo AND her releasing an FF story about WoCs in a second chance romance is absolutely amazing imo 🙌🏻. I haven't decided if I'll start the Reluctant Royals from the beginning(I already have her books, i just need TIME to read them) or just start from this, but i just know I'll 5-star it. ✨ALL OF IT.✨ • Anyway, today's photo is sort of a shot to test how I'm gonna take Kindle photos at an angle (bec my recent posts have all been flatlays and we're getting tired of it)using my phone's Portrait feature and well, I liked it. Also McDonald's, say what you will, is my comfort food. 🍟 Today I learned they're offering rice bowls and I ordered the Chicken Katsu variety. Of course it's nothing like the actual Japanese food but I liked it. And my iced coffee + fries on the side is totally what my weary, exhausted, human soul needed.
