Random little hc I have for the Ascians from FFXIV

WARNING: Spoilers for ARR to ENDWALKER!! (Also this has to do with horror stuff, such as talking about dead bodies. You have been warned)

I like the idea of whenever Ascians take over bodies (specifically dead bodies) since they are so used to *not* having a corporeal form they don’t know how to have their bodies or faces rest.

Like because thancred was alive when possessed his brain was still yk. Doing all the normal stuff.

But since characters like Asahi and Zenos were taken over when they were dead their bodies would look more uncanny.

Overly wide eyes, unhinged mouth, weird resting posture etc.

Emet would have also probably had this issue at the start before he got his “real” body back in the form of clones. When they are in unfamiliar skin its totally different

I wanna draw how I see this but im currently a lazy chud saving my energy for artfight.

When he met you all those years ago, he never expected you to become the bedside kind of healer.

He’s an amazing patient because he has an absurdly high pain tolerance. He can swallow any gross tincture or medication you give him…

(And he has the poker face to match.)

But he’s also a terrible patient because he keeps trying to push himself before he’s ready.

He insists he’s fine. He’ll walk it off.

He's not actually gonna tell you when it hurts.

But usually, it only takes one or two sharp remarks from you to get him back into bed.

Estinien

Like Thancred, he has an impressive pain tolerance and continuously insists he’s fine.

Except he will absolutely attempt to escape when you leave the room.

He scoffs when you try to do caring things, like put a wet cloth on his head or give him extra blankets.

Complains about “all the fussing” over him.

He’s no weakling, and no flu is going to take him out.

He wants to be left alone. Surely you have better things to do.

G’raha Tia

He seems to handle injuries well in battle.

But nausea? Absolutely not.

He keeps trying to read while bedridden, but he can’t focus with the pounding headache.

He thanks you excessively whenever you bring him food, water, or fresh pajamas.

He uses this time to talk with you, to truly get you to open up and share your stories.

He’d ignore a migraine just to hear you talk.

Being cared for like a child by your own hero is a little embarrassing, though… even if he’s secretly enjoying every second of it.

Urianger

“Rest assured, I myself have taken up the art of healing. Thou needst not slave over my bedside.”

He says this right before fainting.

He attempts to hide every symptom he has and fails miserably.

As if being cared for presents some sort of philosophical crisis.

Or, alternatively, he swings the complete opposite direction and dramatically exaggerates every little thing.

You suppose he simply wants to discover how many different ways he can say “I feel like shit” using his excessive vocabulary and colorful prose.

You’ve never had to stop a patient from reading before.

An absolute little bitch in the face of nausea.

Y’shtola

“Surely the Warrior of Light has other things to attend to.”

She says this while fully relaxing into the warmth of your healing spells.

She’s intelligent enough to know when to take an excuse to rest.

If she can walk, however, she will absolutely get up every three bells to make her own tea.

She already has the tinctures you were going to recommend prepared.

You know you would die if you told the world that sick Y’shtola cocoons herself under three blankets when she’s unwell.

Or that her face finally looks so soft and unguarded when she falls into a deep sleep.

Tataru

“Well, if it’s my turn to relax…”

The Warrior of Light taking care of her? She will never let you live this down.

Has absolutely no complaints about staying in bed all day.

Hates the way you make tea. There’s a reason she’s been in charge of tea for all these years.

A little bit of a drama queen when it comes to pain.

Krile

Always the last person to admit she isn’t feeling well.

It’s her job to heal, isn’t it?

But at the end of the day, she isn’t one to complain about taking breaks if no one around her is hurt.

She directs you around the medicine cabinets like you haven’t lived in the Rising Stones for years.

She keeps asking what spells you’re using.

You shush her because her voice sounds like straight sandpaper.

Alisaie

You’ve never met a patient who could be so annoying

She can take some serious hits.

But a stomach ache? Some chills? Dizziness? Nuh uh.

That isn’t to say she wouldn’t power through if it were life-threatening.

But when it isn’t?

She’s going to become incredibly restless during bed rest.

Very, very restless.

She gets irritated and keeps telling you to leave.

And you’re not leaving.

But then she also wants you to stay.

Sigh.

Alphinaud

It is preposterous that you think he would be sick.

Okay, fine. Maybe a little sick.

But certainly not sick enough to justify using magic over.

Okay. Very sick. Hand him the wastebin. He’ll be a good patient now.

He feels like he doesn’t deserve your care.

Every spell, tonic, soup, and cold compress leaves a little more guilt sitting heavily in his stomach.

Shouldn’t he be the one watching over you?

Artoirel x Reader First Kiss

Your first kiss with Artoirel wouldn't just happen randomly

you weren't teens who would kiss and one would run away

this wasn't a stage play, it was life

it would have to have a reason, a nice setting

the kiss would have happened while he was courting you

perhaps it would have taken several months before either of you even considered it

that and he was a gentleman after all

he was all about doing things the right way

and now that he was the new Count, taking over for his father, he wanted everything to go as smoothly as possible

and he didn't want the Ishgardian public spreading gossip should you be caught with him in a compromised position

he respected you and adored you too much to allow the locals to speak a word about you from their lips

instead, your first kiss would come towards the end of an evening after a promenade around the chilly city

he'd led you back to your home and lifted your hand to his lips

"Goodnight, my lady."

but neither of you moved

you didn't head inside and he hadn't moved to leave

"Artoirel?"

"I spoke with your father and got his blessing. Would you do the honor of marrying me?"

"Is that even a question?"

he cups your face and leans in, you meeting him half way as your lips touch

the kiss is gentle, meaningful and doesn't last as long as you'd like

"I wish to have another."

he couldn't say no to you, pulling you in for a deeper kiss

Emet-Selch Love at First Sight

A/N: I'm pretty sure I haven't written this for Emet-Selch yet. If I have...oh well.

Warning: Slight spoiler warning for Shadowbringers; Angst (I didn't intend to angst, but alas, the angst came and knocked down my door)

Emet-Selch had no intention of falling in love

he didn't have the time for it

he had scheming to do

you know, rejoining the First and all that jazz

he heard that there was some warrior poking their nose around where it didn't belong

and intended to find out who it was himself

and maybe get rid of the problem

but alas

the problem wasn't you, the warrior

it was his damned heart

when he managed to track you down, watching you from afar, he felt a little jumpstart in his supposedly cold dark heart of his

his chest was tight and he couldn't stop from observing your features

if he were not an Ascian, he would have thought it was the signs of a heart attack

but no, he knew what it was

and he didn't like it

it didn't help that you looked like someone he knew long ago

someone whom he shared these same feelings for

he hadn't expected to feel this here of all places, in this time

he was sure that he had done away with all these ruddy, useless feelings

what good were they?

and yet here he was, strutting towards you like he didn't have a care in the world

he could pretend you did not affect him

he could even push it into the back of his mind

or so he thought

everything shattered the moment your eyes met his and you greeted him, extending your hand to him

"Hello."

the mask he had up faltered for only a moment as he stared blankly down at your hand

"I don't bite...much."

"You're probably all bark anyways." he mumbled, roughly taking your hand and shaking it

ignoring all the little tingles he felt before letting go

just those little tingles and butterflies in his tummy was putting him in a bad mood

he tightened his jaw and crossed his arms over his chest as he listened to your introduction

not that he cared about you or anything

right...?

and once you parted, he couldn't help but replay the encounter

he'd secretly hope to see you again

A Cute Morning with Alphinaud

A/N: Welp, I was outside painting the sky and forgot that I am posting today. Ironically, my head was in the very clouds I was painting!

You'd felt his kiss on your forehead before hearing the rustling of him getting out of bed

you slept a few more hours until you the smell of his cooking had wafted into the room

"Good morning, sleepy-head."

he held a tray in his hand with any array of food for both of you

"What is this?"

he smiled sheepishly, pink dusting his cheeks

"Breakfast. You'd been working so hard lately, I thought I'd surprise you."

He carefully sat on the bed and put the tray between you

"How'd you sleep?"

the conversation would continue as the two of you ate

it was always nice to have sweet moments together with him before the chaos of the outside world came knocking

the two of you would be cuddling when as if on cue, there was a knock on the door

"Alisaie, same time every morning."

"We could pretend we're not here." he'd mutter into your shoulder

"We could, but she'd find a way to break the door down."

"Five more minutes."

upon his request, you cuddled and shared sweet kisses for a little while longer
