I am in the midst of a "restructure" at work. An occurrence of unalloyed joy as I'm sure any of you who have experienced such things can attest. I won't bore anyone with the details, but suffice it to say, it's not going to make anything better.
Something that I'm not looking forward to with much enthusiasm is being passed back to a previous manager. One who made it very clear that she did not consider me suitable for the job on the basis of my sex. Not through subtle insinuation, but by actually telling me "I don't think people will be comfortable with a man in this role".
It's nothing I've not dealt with before (including from her), but it's definitely regressive and irritating.
So, having offloaded all of that, if anyone would like to assist with my grumpiness, then I would be very interested in hearing (or seeing) how your OCs have defied the expectations or limitations placed upon them by others. Perhaps you could share with me inspiring examples of your OCs overcoming prejudice or stereotyping - or changing people's minds about who they are or what they can achieve.
