The news that a cargo plane has gone down between Honolulu and the Mainland doesn’t surprise Danny. Neither does the report from the Navy that they retrieved only two survivors from a floating life raft two days later—a pilot who’s retired from the Navy and, of course, Joe White. 

Somewhere in the paperwork mill and red tape, the name of the prisoner they were escorting to Colorado is lost and buried, never to see the light of day ever again. 

Good riddance to bad rubbish is Danny’s first thought as soon as he sees the preliminary report land in his inbox.

In the end, this proved to be a real stroke of luck. Otherwise, Sherlock would have missed an intriguing mystery that quickly ramped up in complexity.

Keeping Our Promises (I’ve Got Your Back) Epilogue

and it’s complete—huzzah!

Title: Keeping Our Promises (I’ve Got Your Back)

Summary:  Eddie had made a promise—one he intends to keep.  He’s failed on a lot of other promises he’s made, but he won’t fail Buck when Buck needs him. 

Tags/warnings: fix it—as in, this is how it should have gone! Get together.  First time.  Eddie Diaz has Evan Buckley’s back. Friends to lovers. Lawsuit Era. Eventual explicit sex.  Panic attacks. Marriage proposals.  Baby trapping. 

Waking up married to his best friend and the love of his life is the best thing, Eddie decides. He’s warm, limbs loose from the stretching and workout they’d indulged in several times overnight. There’s a vague soreness in his ass, but it’s a reminder of making love, and Eddie kinda hopes it does and doesn’t hang around. 

The lingering ache reminds him of making love, and he’s not opposed to drifting off into memories of his toes curling in orgasm, Buck sheathed inside him. 

Or vice versa. 

Buck’s bedhead makes him want to run his fingers through his husband’s hair and tug him down into a kiss, so he does. 

They have a bit of a lie-in, rolling around the sheets in a tangle of warm limbs and shiver-inducing kisses. They’re in no rush, but Pepa delivered the invitation to a late brunch/early lunch as a threat, so they eventually tumble out of bed and stumble to the shower, where they spend more time trading lazy kisses and stroking each other to completion. 

The water is cool against Eddie’s heated skin as he cradles Buck close, ignoring the chilled tiles at his back. “Love you,” he whispers into Buck’s ear, feeling the tremble in his lover’s limbs at the words. 

As he steals Eddie's breath, Buck’s eyes are so vibrant, bluer than a cloudless sky.
