Is anyone else disappointed that we will never see Aelin rule her kingdoms?
After finishing Kingdom of Ash, I couldn’t help but be filled with such emptiness. I have followed Aelin since she was just some witty assassin trying to do everything she could just to survive, and now she is QUEEN of the kingdom she loves so dearly. It just kills me that we aren’t going to get any spinoffs like in the ACOMAF series, when I think there is much more material in Aelin’s world. Rebuilding her kingdom won’t happen overnight, and I would have loved to see all the mistakes she makes along the way.
Imagine her sitting in royal meetings, bored as hell and flipping a dagger between her hands, while Fenrys throws her mocking grins and Lorcan just rolls his eyes. Nox is also there, and he has become her personal spy, keeping tabs on all the people who haven’t proven their loyalty.
And I would literally die to see the looks on the faces of all the arrogant lords who visit her, thinking they can boss around this “naive 20 year-old,” as Rowan and Aedion stare them down, growling like there’s no tomorrow. Ofcourse, Aelin is intimidating enough on her own :).
I would love to see all their celebrations, and the magnificent parties I imagine Aelin throwing, with more chocolate cake and wine then anyone can consume. Lysandra and her shopping through town, spending as much money as they can in order to support all the local shops.
Her traveling the country with her crew, making sure everyone is fed and safe. Sending members of HER cadre (including Vaughn, who she hazed like a freshman fratboy the first few years hehe), to hunt down rebels that only try to loot and bring destruction.
Aelin visiting Eyllwe: that visit could not be more emotional. Tears in her eyes as she meets Nehemia’s family, asking for forgiveness that she could not save their daughter. Seeing her speak their language and wanting to do everything she can to help them rebuild. Learning about the Eyllwe culture, and seeing how much Aelin knows about it herself from her time in Endovier.
And finally, she’s the fairie queen of the west now! How is that all going to go down? Will she stop the racism between the demi-fae and fae? Will she allow the demi-fae into Doranelle, and initiate reform? So many questions!
But I will never need a novella to know that no matter what happens after KoA, she will have a court, family (including future children), and kingdom that loves her more than anything :).
Ugh someone put me out of my misery and drown me in their beautiful fanfiction of this hehe, thank you for coming to my ted talk :) Please comment on what you think happens after KoA!!!! <3
