Has anyone found a fallout 4 fic where Nate or Nora are taken by the institute instead of Shaun and the other spouse has to travel the wasteland with baby Shaun to try and find them? I found 1 fic with only 2 chapters that was abandoned back in 2018 so I wanted to see if anyone had found any others

it's your favorite day of the week; Sam's squad gets back from their weekly mission.

you're almost skipping down the main deck of the Predwin, eager to get down to the flight deck to greet him and his squad-- also to help with any repairs to their power armor, of course.

you push open the heavy door to the flight deck, smiling as you see his vertibird get pulled into the overhead mechanism. you nod at the Knight beside the door, who closes the door behind you.

you hold your toolbox secure in one hand, the other hand swinging beside you as you jog over to greet the small group. you watch the squad get out, Sam first, then the rest, as you approach. " Sam! how'd the mission go? find any cool things out there? oh! anything on your suit that's been buggin' you or not workin' right? " you excitedly spout out at the towering manned-suit of T-60 before you.

you know it catches Sam off guard each time, how you manage to just know it's him in that particular suit. the thought makes your smile widen, knowing he's blinking down at you with slight awe.

" it went alright. though, my left shoulder plate's been squeaking weird.. " he rolls his shoulder, and the plate lets out this horrible screech-like sound.

you flinch a little at the sound, your face scrunching up. behind him Sam's squad laughs and mumbles about the interaction before them, the crackle of their mic just barely audible. Sam can hear everything they're saying about you though.

you rummage through your toolbox, " i'll get that! gosh, i can't imagine having to listen to that the whole time.. i think i'd go insane! i should have something here to grease that up with..- "

Sam interrupts you by clearing his throat and holding out a big metal hand. " no need to do that here, you can fix it down on the main deck. " he assures, trying to tune the chatter of his squad out.

you look up at him, nodding with a smile. you turn slightly away, as if motioning him to follow you. he turns to follow, his shoulder plate squeaking with each step. " but you have to tell me all about the mission! things you saw, creatures you killed-- oh! any cool buildings.. "

Sam smile to himself as he follows you off the flight deck and down to the main deck, entertaining all your questions with tired, but detailed responses.

" so, s'the suit been treating you good? " you ask, as you stand on the metal foot of Sam's T-60 on your toes, reaching to fix up his shoulder plate.

Sam almost wants to shrug, but quickly remembers that you're practically pulling yourself upright by his shoulder. his helmet's face plate is flipped up, Sam's honey-brown eyes watching you work. " you know, it would be a lot less straining for you if you'd let me sit or kneel.. " he muses, a soft smile on his thin lips as he watches you huff.

all you give him is a 'psh', before waving him off. " it's fine like this, i told you already. " you shake your head with a reciprocated smile. you glance up at him, a look in your eyes that's easily understood as 'well??'-- wanting your question answered.

he lets out a breathy laugh, picking his memory for an answer. " it's been alright. " by his answer you know he's tired.

you tighten a screw, smearing some grease below the shoulder plate. " 'alright'? psh, it better be with the few days it took me to get that lead plating in there, mister. " you pout.

Sam glances down, scanning your face. you're focused on the job at hand, but he can still tell the answer botheres you a little. he sucks in a breath, looking up at the crude metal ceiling. " the targeting HUD has been a dream, " he offers, looking down at your face again. " that's been a great help. "

he watches your face light up as you stay focused on his shoulder plate, trying to suppress a wide smile. " yeah? i'm really glad! " you nod, dropping your wrench down into your toolbox. you lean back, using one the handles on his chest piece to not fall back. " that HUD took me a while to wire in and hook up, so i'm real glad it's been serving you well! "

your eyes flit back and forth between the two shoulder plates, checking if they're even. " well-! " you exclaim, a proud grin on your face. " the shoulder shouldn't be a problem anymore! "

you remain standing on one of his big metal feet, one hand clutching each handle on his chest piece as Sam rolls his left shoulder. and lo and behold, no horrible screeching sound. Sam smiles, if anything, at your pleased and happy expression. " thanks a lot for that. " he nods, looking down at you.

you look up at him, that looks in your eyes as if he's hung the stars and moon. you grin, " no problem! " you drop down off his foot, letting go of the handles. you don't miss the way Sam leans forward a little to help ease you down.

you rock on your feet, " can't have my favorite Paladin alerting everyone and thing around him, now can i? " Sam’s heart warms at the look on your face and your words.

he nods, a firm, single motion; a sincere thanks. he glances at the crooked clock on the wall. " have you had dinner yet? " as if he doesn't know the likely answer already.

your eyes widen, spinning around to look at the same clock. " oh crap! that's the time?! "

Sam laughs, reaching up to disengage his full helmet from the suit. " c'mon, let's get some food in you, " he smiles, gesturing down the deck to the mess hall.

I got 2 AU ideas with Mac x Sole and AAAAAAA

Okay, so in this first AU, Pre-War things may be a valuable resource. Ghouls for their knowledge, well kept things for what they hold, etc

MacCready is told there's a perfect mint-condition pre-war thing that would be worth a ton of caps. It doesn't throw him off that it's from a vault.

But what does throw him off is that the pre-war "thing" is a person in a cryo pod.

Finds out the person's the only survivor so he can't grab more, gets Sole out, takes them with him.

Of course, he needs the caps to eventually try and get some help getting his son's cure. Other people find out he's got a pre-war person who isn't a ghoul, wants to take them,

Mac and Sole end up falling in love despite Sole being kind of his captive. They help him get the cure, but they both still have the problem of people wanting to get this genuine unghoulified pre-war person

Second AU Romanced MacCready finds out he's a synth.

Original Mac came to the Commonwealth to get his sons cure, and that's when he got snatched.

Though the synth Mac was able to escape and flee to the Railroad, his love for his son and his original mission still stuck close to him.

He and Sole meet, fall in love, then later after coming and going from the Institute, they find out MacCready's a synth and hesitantly tells him.

gardner's just a freak. neither of them are winning because gardner is just trying to kidnap jack to do a torture auction because the first time he tried to kidnap him, he got his leg cut off. jack just wants to mind his own fucking business (and kill raiders but still)

Honestly found an awesome idea for a Fallout 4 fanfic in a random Youtube comment and I hope that SOMEONE has used it yet or I will actually need to get writing again

They're both gigantic geeks and gamers. In fact, Mac streams his gaming semi-professionally under the tag L0ngsh0t on Twitcher 😉

Vin eventually gets back on a (modified) motorcycle but Mac gets travel sickness too badly to ride shotgun. Vin still enjoys swimming (again, without water-averse Mac) and going to the gym.

They love watching movies with the boys.
