Semester Two - Readings

I officially started my lectures for Semester 2 today! I have been set 2 books to read in 2 weeks already! Which I was really concerned about because the workload is already heavier this year, however the first book - Just Mercy I have barely been able to put down. I can literally not recommend this book more highly especially for anyone who enjoys learning about the law or social injustice. I was so excited to get back into it at uni! Ready for the grind again!

I'm not sure if you're into this kind of music, but I really recommend listening to Hippo Campus's new album Landmark. They're one of my favorite alternative bands and they're from my home state of Minnesota :)

the book: this is where it ends by marieke nijkamp, is about a school shooting told in multiple perspectives over the course of about an hour.

review: did not like. felt unrealistic, the plot was disconnected and there were no mentions of certain things that then just appeared out of nowhere. i did not sympathize with any of the characters, except autumn, but very fleetingly. all of the romances seemed forced and a weird time to focus on falling in love. each character seemed like they had such a complex backstory, but by the end i knew nothing about any of them. i respect the idea, but it was not executed well.

tl;dr: would not recommended. 2/5 stars.
