Today's going to be rough
First and foremost, sincerely, Happy Father's Day to all the other dads out there.
Today is going to be different. Losing Connor literally just two weeks ago is seriously compromising my motivation to do just about anything, much less celebrate being a dad. My son is gone, and in my grief addled brain, I feel partially responsible for it, for reasons I won't go into.
But here's the thing; I also have a daughter. A wonderful, brilliant, courageous daughter, who just got married in October, to an incredible man who I am proud to call son-in-law. She needs me. My wife needs me. They're taking me out to a Rockies game (🫥) today, and dammit, I'm gonna enjoy the game, their company, and anything else we do today.
Because it would be what Connor wanted (who was also supposed to go to the game) and is the best way to honor him.
Detroit, the city of hackers, corruption, murder, you name it. It should never be a city that you run to, unfortunately; Arata was the one to flee to it. He was driven out of Tokyo, Aiming for some form of protection against the demons that were following him.
Even if he was AWOL, his work never stopped. He shouldn’t have hacked into the government encryption; not when he didn’t protect himself enough. Never once did it cross his mind that he could get caught let alone tracked. Adjusting his backpack on his shoulder, Arata made his way to a local coffee shop. Keeping his gaze to himself.
Arata took a calming breath before opening the door and ordering a large caramel drink. He definitely had a sweet tooth that never went away. Finding a seat near one of the corners, Arata took out a sleek black laptop. Turning on the VPN once the desktop loaded. He was not fucking up again.
He pulled up something simple, A news website. He silently wondered what was going on here? Androids were still a new thing in Tokyo while here, they seemed rampant and part of the city. He must have stuck out like a sore thumb, judging from the glances that he was given.

Sage was walking home alone in the early evening, enjoying her quiet walk when she thought she heard someone following her. She turned, and saw a sinister man a few feet behind her. Fear struck her, and she tried to walk faster to get away from him. When he picked up his pace, she started to run and he ran after her. “Go away! Leave me alone!” She shouted as she ran. As she ran, she saw someone up ahead, so she ran to him. “Sir! Please help me! That man is chasing me!” She pleaded, grabbing his arm in terror.
