Me, 33, to my therapist two weeks ago: So I graduated and will never study again
Me to my therapist today: So consider this... I go back to school, change my whole career, trash everything, screw the four degrees I've obtained so far and start over, new plan you see
study date, featuring my café de olla
we both have upcoming exams (advancing our educations in our respective fields - her as an emt and me in teaching) and the day off, so we snuck away to one of our favorites cafes. this marks my official re-entry into academia; it was a much longer break than i intended to take (6 years), but i don't think i can be my best self as an educator without remaining a life-long student myself. i'm excited to be back in my element <3

Studying but like new stickers
Forever feeling like trying to keep my head above water
04.18.2018 After an appointment, getting a new toaster for my future apartment, & getting my grades for my final test & research proposal for my advanced development biology class, I decided to sit down, watch Moana & work on my blanket.
Something about studying on weekends makes me feel oddly content. It makes me feel like I am getting ahead. It is relaxing. Perhaps it is because during the week everyone is studying so it feels like I have to just to keep my head afloat whereas on weekends I can do it because I actually like what I am studying? Either way, it is a nice feeling.
Current GradSchool to-do list:
Calcium Assays to establish concentration-response curves for my knock down cells (X2 different knock downs and X1 for the sham knock down)
Create the graphs to compare these concentration response curves to the wild-type and do same for CRISPR knock out cells
Update my lab book -- I currently have an electronic one on the go because it has been too busy to write it down on hard copy (this takes me longer than it should but I like the hard copy to be so organized that sometimes I find it hard to put pen-to-page
Study Study Study -- candidacy in two weeks!!!! EEEEK
Print my study guides that I have created for candidacy (there are 5 of about 200 pages each.... oops)
Set up practice exams - I have one scheduled for Friday
Analyze my proteomics data... I have started but I’m still not sure what it all means. I meet with the PI that is helping me with these experiments tomorrow so hopefully he can give me some tips
Plan next proteomics experiments
Make plan for immunohistochemistry experiments starting with stain validation
