y/n gave a relieved sigh as Wendy healed her wounds. She had tried to step in when Mira and Lisanna were attacked; however, she was knocked out cold in the process. She felt defeated, her face downcast. She spaced out until a certain voice piqued her interest.
“You’re real,” a deep voice spoke, followed by the sound of her younger sister yelling. There was no way...
Her eyes widened, her entire body growing stiff. She could faintly hear Wendy asking if she was okay, but she was frozen. It was him. How long had it been? Tears began to blur her vision as her thoughts overwhelmed her.
“y/n!” Wendy shouted, making the woman snap out of the emotional turmoil she had begun experiencing, while also catching the attention of a certain blonde dragonslayer.
“What’s wrong, dear?” Carla placed a paw on her leg, but just gave y/n a questioning look at the violent shake of her head.
“I’m fine.. Sorry..” y/n smiled apologetically, the feeling of someone looking at her sunk in as she avoided the blonde’s gaze.
“Thank you for the help.” y/n bowed thankfully, before walking away, into the forest. Footsteps followed her, which only made her keep going to her destination. Where, you may ask? A flower field she stumbled upon at the beginning of the S-class trial. After a moment of walking, she stopped at her destination.
“Why are you here?” y/n mumbled, disdain clear in her tone. The figure behind her stopped a mere few feet behind her. Clenching her fist, she tried to hold strong, despite the conflicted feelings in her heart. However, she received no response.
“After all this time, you're not even going to say anything?” She scoffed, still keeping her back facing him.
“You’ve grown, but..” She could hear the male shuffle behind her, stiffening as he edged closer. She flinched when a large palm landed on her head, “You’re still the same y/n.” Laxus chuckled, making the woman even more frustrated. After all this time, and that’s what he decides to say?
“You’re such an idiot.” She pulled away from him, finally turning to face him. Tears ran down her face freely, causing his eyes to widen.
“Why did you leave? You didn’t write, you didn’t visit. You abandoned me. Without even letting me tell you- without hearing how I felt. You made decisions for me!” She yelled at him, lightly punching his chest. Laxus took it, holding an unreadable expression, his arms wrapping around her. She fought desperately against him.
“You have no right to hold me! You left me! You-” She sobbed, punching him until she felt tired. “With some stupid- stupid claim, you weren’t good enough!” Laxus froze at this, of all things for her to mention, he didn’t expect that.
“Now wait a minute-” He protested; however, he stopped after locking eyes with her teary gaze. y/n stopped fighting with him, her expression filled with unsaid emotions.
“You.. Have always been good enough, Laxus Dreyar.” His eyes widened, going to protest before she continued. “Yes, you did some terrible things to our guild- no, our family, but everyone makes mistakes!” She gripped onto him, refusing to let him pull away.
“You have changed.. so much..” She placed a hand on his cheek. A soft expression showed on her face as tears filled his eyes, an out-of-character sight for the strong man..
Laxus was always a different person to y/n; he was softer, more protective, and overall a more emotional person. Seeing him cry made her heartache, regardless of what he did. She gently wiped the tears resting on his cheeks, a smile forming on her face.
“I love you, Laxus. Flaws and all.” y/n admitted, crying even more. His eyes widened, the words he’d wished he’d let her say so long ago. H dipped, pulling y/n in, connecting their lips. y/n stiffened, before relaxing, wrapping her arms around his neck. He picked her up lightly, deepening the kiss. It was as if a million emotions were being conveyed in one single moment.
After what felt like an eternity, they pulled apart. Laxus gently placed her down, placing his forehead on hers. They both stood in silence, relishing in the moment.
“I love you too.. Ever since I watched you fall in the lake on our first real job.. It just took me forever to realize it.” He chuckled, a small blush dusting his cheeks. She gave a small laugh, intertwining their hands.
“Let’s get back..” She pulled him towards the direction of the camp, not without him grumbling something about another kiss. After a moment of walking, she gave a huff.
“And just so you know, you’re still not off the hook for leaving the way you did!” She yelled, bonking his shoulder, causing the blonde to laugh. He sure picked a good one.
