Something I find funny is that fans of a certain ship (mostly straights) are telling queer fans of a franchise to “shut up and don’t watch it if you don’t like it” when we complain about the creators forcing two characters with an ambiguous sexual orientation or gender non-conformity into a mold of “cis straight”-ness.

LIke, you can complain about queerbaiting and all that as a white straight female, but us queer fans have to shut up bc “you’re ruining our hype :(”. Nah fam, I’m in my absolute right to complain about straightwashing, even more than you actually.

You, my dear fujo, are a nobody, and you aren’t going to tell me as a queer person of what can I and can’t I complain regarding queerness in media. Learn to curate your online spaces before treating us like we’re inferior and a nuisance for being in our full right to speak up against this kinda shit.

about a tv show that I am also into. For some context, it was about a gay ship, one of the characters is canonically gay and the other’s sexuality has never been addressed. Okay, do you, boo, I continue scrolling, but wait- not before I notice that she’s tagged it “yaoi, boylove, BL” and I’m like,

Bitch... what? This is a live action American drama, it couldn’t be further from yaoi. And seriously, yaoi? Why would you associate yourself with that mess? And like... These are two men in their forties and you’re referring to a relationship between them as “boylove”? And yaoi? Bitch...

I just cannot believe that in this foul year of our lord, 2018, I’m still seeing fan girls fetishizing gay relationships, perpetuating these homophobic uke/seme stereotypes, and doing this yaoigurrl2003 shit. Like what is happening? Am I on fanfiction.net? Is it 2005?
