MARATINES 2026 ♡ Day Seven ⸻ One True Pairing

There's just always going to be that one ship that's a little more meant to be.

Ben first fell in love with Steve began as a small crush as a child while they were still friends...but obviously things changed. Then Steve came back to save him and the others from the Demogordon...then he was the one who stood up for him against Billy...Then he was the one who he first confessed to with who he really was and accepted him...From time and time again after that night in the Byers house...Steve Harrington was the only one in Ben's life he could trust and depend on. And who Ben was truly in love with from the very beginning.

Side note: SO! I was originally gonna do this for Day 5 and my beloved Hoppington again with a different edit for Day 7 but uh I did not plan my time well lol!! I also uploaded this vid on my YouTube!

"For starters? Four octave range, and that's not even my main reason." She chuckles and shakes her head, placing her feet on the dash. Steve's eyes dart over to her, "What about you?" "ABBA," She says without thinking. It surprises her as much as it surprises him. "I don't know, they sound like happiness to me." Steve hums in approval and turns the radio up.

re-Introducing: Ash Puckett

Ash Puckett wouldn’t say she hates her life. Sure, she wishes she didn’t live in a run-down trailer on the edge of Hawkins, didn’t have to spend her weekends working at the Cinema just to help pay bills, had a normal family, and could finally get out of this town for good. Doesn’t everybody?

When her mother lands herself in the hospital yet again, Ash doesn’t think much will change. She’s worried—she always is—but it’s not like this is the first time it’s happened.

Until her father shows up and decides that this time he cares and insists she can't stay alone, causing her to move across the town with him and the picture-perfect family he crafted for himself. Ash expects the worst part will be the awkward dinners, being away from her best friend Eddie, and sharing a room with Gracie, her half-sister, but soon she's about to discover that it would be the least of her worries.

Because what's coming is bigger than her family problems. Bigger than Hawkins. Bigger than the whole world she knows.

And that is just the begging of the worst week of her life.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: DAY 1 - Realizations

maybe they were struck by lightning, or it slowly built over time, but what did that ‘oh. oh.’ moment look like?

For Hazel, it was never lightning.

It was always going to be a slow build - quiet, cumulative, undeniable.

She didn’t fall in love with Steve all at once. She noticed him into loving him.

It started with patterns: the way he always positioned himself between her and the loudest part of a room, how he lowered his voice without being asked, how he learned her tells - when she needed to leave, when she needed grounding, when she just needed someone to sit beside her without talking. Those things registered in her mind long before her heart caught up.

The “oh. oh.” moment came unexpectedly.

It was late, after everything had gone wrong and then barely right again. Hazel was overwhelmed - lights too bright, noise too sharp, fear still buzzing under her skin. Steve handed her his jacket without a word and sat down on the floor with her, back against the wall, knees pulled in. He didn’t ask questions. He didn’t try to fix her. He just stayed, steady and solid, counting his breaths out loud because he knew it helped her regulate.

And Hazel realised - very calmly, very clearly - that the world felt manageable with him there.

Not exciting.

Not dramatic.

Just… safe.

That was the moment her thoughts went quiet and landed on a single truth:

Oh.

I trust him with my nervous system.

Oh.

That’s love.

She didn’t say anything. Hazel rarely did, when something mattered this much. She just leaned her shoulder against his, and Steve adjusted instantly - like he’d been waiting for permission.

And that was enough.
