Summary:
It was Dean's idea for a New Year's Eve/Day party. And Sam gave him the full credit, just in case it went sideways. And it did in some ways. But not all. What can really go wrong when you have a room full of hunters, angels, a demon, a witch, dreamwalker and a psychic? Surely nothing. Apart from some friendly wars.
Sam was glad it wasn't his idea. That way if it went terribly wrong, it was Dean's fault. Which he had no problem telling Dean as much. Who rolled his eyes, "Dramatic." He huffed, "It's a party, not a death arena." Sam shrugged, they've been invited to burials that turned into such so caution wasn't unreasonable to think so.
But he was right. They all survived another year. And the safest place for hunters to gather was the bunker. They deserved to celebrate just that. Except, Sam and Dean were in charge of the invitations. And there were some questionable invites on each other's ends. Sam gave Dean an exasperated look when Dean invited Crowley. And Dean gave Sam an annoyed looked when Sam invited Rowena. They called it even.
They didn't expect anyone until much later in the day. So when there was knocking on the door at seven in the morning, they had their guns locked and loaded as they prepared to open the door. Only to find Jody looking unimpressed, "What? Hugs too much? Gotta bring out the bazooka?"
