Gaillardia pulchella

Gaillardia pulchella has a large distribution in the southern and central United States, as well as parts of northern Mexico. It has several common names, including Indian blanket and firewheel. It is an annual or short-lived perennial, flowering through the summer months and often into the fall. As with many plants in the Asteraceae, or Daisy Family, what appears to be one flower is actually a cluster of tiny flowers grouped in a cup.
