Game idea:
You are an adventurer who has recently arrived in a small hamlet, from which you intend to venture forth into the many dungeons dotting the land—numbering 12 in total. You've got to fight through the wilderlands to get to the dungeons, though, battlings monsters and cutthroats at every turn. (Some can even be recruited to join you as hirelings!)
Each dungeon has who knows how many floors, with a boss battle at the bottom of each, with randomized enemies, floor layouts, and loot drops every time you come back.
You don't just find armor and weapons, but tools and materials for your village, allowing you to expand it and build it up. Other NPCs can be found in story quests; while most can be hired to fight alongside you, they can also perform specific jobs for you back in the village, providing you with resources for further expeditions. The hirelings you manage to bring back can also be put to work under skilled NPCs, increasing their output tremendously.
Eventually you have a bustling village rife with storied characters and all sorts of non-dungeony things to do...and you'll be able to find and open the 13th dungeon where the final boss lies—the TRUE ending of the game.
Idk I just want something where you can collect villagers like they're Animal Crossing characters, but with Diablo dungeon crawling and greater city builder elements.
