Jumy-M Mrs. D's Garden / ミセスDの花園
Whoever has the better sleeping habits dragging the other to sleep and cuddle -w-
This one happens a lot because Lius and insomniac while Ejs not only has hyersomnia, but is still very much a health man as he was going to be a doctor!
This is just a quick drabble
<°•°>
Liu stared at the inked pages under the warm lamp light, rereading the same page for the 5th time in a row. Hed tried to go to bed hours ago, he even had cozied up with Jack as the demon man fell asleep hoping his body would sync with the others breathe and heart and fall asleep.
It had not worked. So now he read. Hed nearly completed this book now but was starting to struggle actually reading it at all. Hed accepted hours ago sleep wasn't in his plans for the night anymore though. If he couldn't fall asleep in the safe embrace of his husband then he really wasn't going to sleep at all.
Liu hadn't heard a thing when the book in his hands was gently closed by a surprise guest in front of him.
"Your supposed to be asleep" Liu whispered.
"You left me in that cold dark room" Jack said with a pout. Silly man. An expression hardly fit for a viscous man eating demon. Though most of Ejs personality hardly fit his outward appearance. "But did you die?"
Ej leaned down, touching their foreheads together. Putting on his forced sad face , Liu could see the smile trying to poke through.
"Yes. Horrifically too. The news called it a preventable tragedy, if only the poor man hadn't been left in the cold abyss"
Liu giggled. "Your silly."
Jack giggled back "Your laughing at my pain?!"
"The pain of being left in a king sized materress with tons of blankets and pillows in a room /You/ keep cold?"
"Yes." Ej tried to play dead serious. It's really hard to take it when the angle Liu cold see him at was so ridiculous. "You sir. Are gay."
"And you sir, are going to end up sleep deprived and on the roof again of you don't come to bed"
"I'm not falling asleep tonight anyways"
"Maybe. Or maybe I could..help you?" That tone. That shy suggestion got across far to much.
"Mister nyras! How forward of you!" Liu faked embarrassment. "I shouldve known you've only risen from slumber to convince me of your perversions."
"Dont talk like a Victorian when I'm trying to get you to bed."
"Well don't suggest something so crass" Liu kept on with the bit. He just liked getting the younger man flustered.
Flustered he was as well, a dark warmer tone was spreading across ejs cheeks and ears.
"I was suggesting a bath and massage actually."
"Oh.... Yeah that would be nice too."
three of our garden beds 🌱
working in the garden from the past couple of mornings
Garden Bed - Glenys Ambrus
British, b. 1936 -
Pastel , 59 x 85 cm.
I've been putting off starting my vegetable garden because part of the back wall between my house and the neighbours fell in May, and I've been waiting to see if they're going to replace the whole wall or just the bit that broke, and since that bit of the garden is where I want to put the vegetable garden it felt like I needed to know what's happening with the wall before i do anything.
Buuut nothing's happened, and I shouldn't put off my plans for something like this.
The other thing I was on the fence about was what I want the raised gardens to be made of. I'd first wanted to do brick because there was a pile of about 160 bricks left at the house when I bought it, but then the builders when I did some renovation before moving in either used the bricks in the building process or threw them out with the other building rubble, so they're gone. Then there's the metal garden beds you can buy online, but they're very expensive, and then my dad said he could make them out of wood, which was the way I was leaning most frequently.
But, for my dad to make them for me, I have to wait for him to do that because I don't have any of my own power tools. So I've gone back to the idea of brick.
Pros for brick:
Is sturdy and won't deteriorate over time the way metal or wood possibly could)
Is pretty inexpensive compared to the cost of the other two options
I can make it myself
Strong enough that i can sit on the edge of the bed while working on the garden.
Building them from brick means I can start with just one or two beds and if I want to add more, they'll all match - whereas if I buy a bed online and then want to buy another in the future, it might be out of stock or too expensive to buy a matching one.
I can build them in whatever shape and size I want.
I don't know if there's any cons to the brick option? I guess that once I build them it'd be a bitch to remove them after.
So I'm going to start watching some videos on how to start a raised veggie garden, and start getting my research done. It's mid winter where I live, so it'd be nice to have them done in time for spring, and then I'll probably start off by buying seedlings from the one guy at the farmer's market and garden scraps for my first go with the garden?
Honestly I think buying the soil to fill the beds might end up being the most expensive part. At least I've been making a pile of garden refuse and have my compost bin going already, plus a bunch of boxes left over from moving still, so those will come in handy for filling the beds (and I need to decide if I want to leave grass between the beds or do gravel or stepping stones or what have you).
Our beautiful permaculture bed is on its way to being done!
By volume it's
25% compost (we picked up bulk from a local source)
25% Various amendments (mostly dried cut grass/plants from the lawn and fields, but also pinecones, some sticks, and forest floor litter)
50% topsoil we are digging up ourselves in areas we plan to build on eventually, currently the spot for the eventual chicken coup
We keep the ratio by filling buckets as the base unit. 1:1:2 compost : amendment : soil , which is a full "cycle". We estimate 25 cycles will be needed total. We just completed 15.5 at the time of this picture. Every 3-6 cycles, we mix as best we can with a heavy metal rake thingy father in law lets us use. The only heavy machinery/help we got was father in law had a project a few years ago that left a pile of topsoil by the hedge row, which we cleared, and he is using the tractor to scoop it up and move it back to the bed because it's about a quarter mile back in the farthest back field.
Holy shit I just realized I quite regularly walk at least a mile a day. Most days we are in the field and we usually have at least two separate work periods because we eat lunch atvthe house. We also are walking lots to move materials around and walking around the (very hilly!) forest.
Damn.
Anyways, due to the abuse and shitshow here, we will very likely only be able to grow fall planting stuff and quick growing stuff like radishes this year, and I'm very resentful/disappointed about that, but I'm grateful to still have this opportunity and be surrounded by beauty and nature. I try to post about everything I do, but I do so so much, it's impossible. Like that I got food poisoning (chicken contamination, marinade) a few days ago, or that sister in law locked us out of the laundry/bathroom in the middle of us doing laundry, but I am living life so fully and am so busy I can't keep up lol.
Anyways here's some stuff I've been up to, without any context:
