About the culture gender identity thing there are over 108 (I say 108 because that's how many I found in 2 hours of research) cultures world wide with non-cis identities that are specific to them. There are cultures on literally every continent with non-cis gender identities that are specific to them. While these identifies are often similar to non-cis identity we recognize in the "western" world, there can be nuanced differences that make them unique identities. I might post the list I made.

I know the baxoje people have (or had prior to colonization at least :/) a non-binary gender called ‘mihxoge’, that’s not just related to gender, it’s also an extremely spiritual identity. For most native peoples their non-binary genders have very spiritual beliefs tied to them, hence why it is really /really/ inappropriate for someone not of that culture to to say they identify as that. I’m not an expert, but tumblr user oreides is baxoje & mihxoge and has great posts on this whole subject.
Sherlock's gender
Sherlock is a demiboy. But he doesn't know that word. He thinks of himself as "sort of genderfluid," but he identifies mainly as a boy. However his gender expression is more feminine. He likes to wear dresses and frilly blouses and makeup. He paints his nails and wears heels. His favorite compliments that aren't based in his intelligence are "pretty" and "gorgeous." But he still thinks of himself mostly as a boy.
When it comes to gendered relationship terms, he prefers male ones (ex. boyfriend, fiancé, husband). But for rank, he prefers female ones (ex. princess, dame, lady). He keeps his pronouns masculine (he/him/his) because it's easier for him and he's not sure he could train himself to respond to anything else.
He doesn't really get dysphoria, but sometimes he'll have a few days where he just doesn't feel pretty. If someone is dating him and this happens, it's very important to sprinkle him with compliments until he feels better. It's actually good to be in the habit of sprinkling him with compliments in general.
He doesn't get offended by misgendering unless it seems intentional. For example if someone calls him "ma'am" with no ill intent, he would probably be flattered that he looked pretty enough to pass as a lady. But if someone said "you're a boy, act like one" then he'd be furious and possibly slap the person. Even if someone called him "Prince Sherlock" he would probably just politely say "princess, actually" and smile.
In conclusion; Sherlock is a princess. That is a fact. He wants to be treated like one, and dress like one. If you insult him he will probably slap you and then cry. But he's pretty and he knows it, and he wants to be told all about it.
Are you unsure of what pronouns fit for you? Do you need help figuring out which ones do fit? Look no further, because with the Pronoun Dressing Room by tumblr user failedslacker, you can put in your name and whatever pronouns you want, and it plops you down as the main character in excerpts from different books to help you figure that out!
You get to choose to see yourself in the following books:
Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
The Piebald Hippogriff by Karen Anderson
For each book, it even has content warnings so you don't read something that you don't want to. You are able to suggest books to be added as well if you can think of something that would best be included!
Hope this helps!
