We need to ungender names because sometimes you see a woman who would be the perfect Steve but no, she’s called Rebecca. And then there’s guy with unmatched Veronica energy but no he’s named John.

shoutout to nonbinary people with gendered names! you are amazing! I know it can sometimes be hard, but it’s fabulous that you have a name that you love and are comfortable with!
'Stop gendering names' is just a scam made by pet owners so they don't have to change their pet's name after they figure out their pet's gender
Petition for people to stop making fun of Magma Admin Tabitha for having a 'girl' name!!!
Maybe he's trans and he likes his name or just hasn't gotten to change it yet!! Stop making fun of people's names in general!!
I'm some sort of nerd when it comes to names. I've known meanings of almost every name since I was kid and had male/female opinions with two middle names for both of my kids before they were born. They know those names and call each other with them for fun time to time. It's so cute and heartwarming. It wasn't till now that my younger asked what my name would've been if I was born a male. "Granma always said she'd name me Christian if I was a boy. So I guess people would call me Chris." As a pagan, I can't say it's something I'd pick myself. In the light of resent marvel metaphores in my life, I'm more convinced universe is fudging with me. Kid grinned like maniac and said "I would call you Crash! Like Crash Bandicoot!!!" Gods bless that kid.
Totally random
I absolutely love how Staci Pratt and Joey Hudson's first names are like backwards if that makes sense. Like Joey is typically a male name and Staci(y) is typically a female name. Gendering names is silly yes I agree but I like how they flipped it on their heads.
As always, y'all are totally welcomed to share your thoughts and reblog
So I'm nonbinary and I know what I want my first name to be, but I just recently started to consider my middle names. The thing is my middle names have a very masculine and a very feminine version (variation of the same name), and I do want to keep them because they're family names but I hate that they're so obviously gendered.. Any suggestions?
People tend not to ask about middle names and it doesn’t come up very often, so if you want to keep your middle names because of family then you should do that and not worry about how other people will view you because of them.
It’s also good to remember that just because society likes to gender names, those names aren’t actually only for one gender. Anyone of any gender can have any name and still be valid.

hi there! I'm personally non-binary and my main character is a trans girl. but I feel like she would be dine with her birthname, since her parents were always supportive of her. its Matt but I dunno if that'd be too of. you know? thanks in advance!
Generally speaking, with a name as gendered as “Matt” I think it would be a little strange to call a girl that. It all depends on what you are going for and whether or not you are writing a dysphoric character.
As long as you are thoughtful as to why you want the birthname to be so gendered (or your lady character to be okay with it) and you aren’t just tapping into some unconscious bias, I would think it’s okay.
