I just read about your post about helping housekeeping and I’m curious; when my group stays at a con now, we don’t let housekeeping come in the room at all because of a bad past experience. Housekeeping had cleaned up the room and threw away a lot of our bought prints. So I’m curious if not letting housekeeping in a room for, say, 3-5 days makes it harder for them when we leave? (We do try to bag up trash and gather things up for easy cleaning.) and also, do you have trash boundaries?
I’m so sorry to hear about ur prints! I know how valuable they are. :( if anything like that happens again, ask to speak to a manager and let them know that prints from a con are valuable so he can talk to the housekeeper and hopefully it will help the housekeeper understand for next time. A lot of housekeepers are older women from Latin or Asian decent who most of the time struggle with American language and customs. They probably didn’t know better. And they could use some direction, y’kno?
To avoid this problem again you could always pull things in closets or drawers where the housekeepers can go in (except to dust! But they’re not allowed to touch ANYTHING in those specific areas!) You could leave a note! It can say ‘please don’t touch anything in this area/pile/etc.’ or ‘please only clean…..’ or ‘don’t clean please, just take trash and replace amenities’ don’t be afraid to be specific. Or! Just call front desk and they will add it to the housekeepers room list. As for trash boundaries: uhhh…..I don’t know what this is. ^^; my English kinda sucks too. But I think u mean how much trash can be left? If that’s it: then it’s up to u! It’s our job to clean after you and we know that ur on vacation and don’t want to be bothered by that. U literally pay to not clean. Lol but I do ask that ur mess don’t cause DAMAGE. Because that can come back to bite you. And it cost the hotel money. Treat it like you would if you were sleeping at your close friend or relatives house. :) thank you for your question!!
