I just wanna go over Raito today, LSS: Tomoro sees Gokuwmon, gets kidnapped and sent to fight in a death colosseum. Raito got kicked out of Tactics and plans to win his way back.
Except for controlling Digimon....
Pride is a very powerful motivator.
Tomoro is trying to get Raito to stop fighting and calls him selfish as hell.
You're focusing way too much on that.
He answers by forcing Rhamphomon into......
Even if his own partner suffers in pain, he won't stop.
Even if it almost costed him his own life.
Do you wanna know what the lesson for today's episode was?
Don't let yourself get tunnel visioned on your goals. You might lose sight of the people who care about you, sometimes hurting them, sometimes yourself and other times, innocent people.
Digimon Beatbreak Episode 21 Review - The Ultimate Shield
Peakbreak at its finest. A lot happens in this two-parter and got resolved nicely, but a huge twist shows up at the end. On top of that, there won’t be an episode next week, so I’m here going to be thinking about what happens next for two weeks…
This episode has two sides: Reina and Kyo vs Granit and Naito and Tomoro and Makoto looking for Raito. I’ll talk about the former first. I always feel like the writers won’t showcase Kyo going all out unless it’s some big opponent because he easily beat Naito before, but he has to hold back in this one because Naito was being a coward and using Ludomon as a shield, which is also draining Granit’s e-pulse. Rather than Klay, seeing Naito’s downfall would feel more satisfying…
I do feel like this portion more focuses on resolving Granit’s character arc which is Reina helping him realize why Ludomon exists—to protect him and not to leave him alone. It’s crazy how he was fine with wanting to be Cold Hearted because he was ordered to do so. There might be some people out there who probably don’t like the fact that Reina’s spotlight has to be shared with Granit, but I feel like it makes sense for her character? She already has experience, so her character is to bring her own wisdom to those who need it like Tomoro and Granit. I’m more shocked about how she’s able to hold back Ludomon while in shield mode. Girl, what are you on? That’s some Marcus Damon type of shenanigan.
Digimon being a reflection of their Owner does ring truth as Gigasmon is just as violent as his Owner. He destroyed Ludomon’s shield, but this causes Ludomon to evolve into TiaLudomon, which was so cool! It felt satisfying to see TiaLudomon knocking out Gigasmon. It’s always entertaining to see Naito get humiliated by everyone.
The reason Tomoro is so driven to save Raito is because he believes in second chances—he’s taking in Kyo’s philosophy seriously and I love it. The kid even apologized to his friends! That’s growth right there! I do wonder if his heart has reached Raito because Raito does seem remorseful for his actions as he’s caused a lot of people to be Cold Hearted. Given how that portion of the Mirror World got destroyed, the Cold Hearted bodies are probably lost forever…
I did mention that Hotaruko probably felt bad for what happened to Raito in the previous episode and one person commented that it was unlikely since Raito is a jerk. This episode does disprove it as she does care about Raito as she disobeyed Naito’s orders to eliminate him and set him free. She’s also the one who told him about Naito’s true intentions and probably also rescued Ketomon. It would be nice if Tactics Team 7 would be able to form a genuine friendship outside of their work. They all need a friend, in all honesty. If they’re not going to join Glowing Dawn at the end, then they should form their own little group not affiliated with Tactics that could help out GD from time to time—though, joining Glowing Dawn does feel more plausible.
It’s crazy how Genjo concocted all of this. He’s playing 7D chess at this point. Luring Tomoro with Asuka’s Sapotama will lure Kyo and Kyo can get help him get rid of Klay by exposing his misdeeds and getting a bounty on his head as a result. I had a feeling the Five Stars aren’t exactly allies and I was right. Other than Honoka and Kaito, the others don’t seem to get along as well aside from maybe Rose and Klay. I do wonder what his overall goal is if he’s being this meticulous.
Proganomon, Klay’s partner, is voiced by Kosei Hirota who voiced Merukimon in Digimon Savers. Beatbreak really likes bringing a lot of past Digimon affiliates and it shows. It does make me wonder who MarineChimeramon and Lilamon are voiced by since they’re unvoiced. The former will show up and be in action next episode.
By the way, Yuko Sanpei, the voice actress of Ludomon and TiaLudomon, celebrated her birthday yesterday. The official Digimon account also celebrated Raito’s birthday yesterday as he’s a leap year baby (auto correct strangely had leap be spelled out as leprechaun). The next episode will be aired on March 15, which is Granit’s birthday. I just hope good things will happen to him next episode because he needs it. Other than that, I do wonder how Klay’s downfall will be like. Will Naito join in to protect him? Let me know your thoughts on this episode.
My evolution lines for the Digimon of TACTICS team 7 (and Naito)
Ludomon/Ldmon’s line is self explanatory, it’s the one it’s had for years. Likewise, Monodramon’s is the one that’s established so far with a “???” to emphasize that I’d like him to get an all new Ultimate/Mega.
Shakomon’s uses Jellymon and Sangomon’s shared Baby forms because I think they just work for mollusks. The rest of the line keeps the emphasis on Ancient creatures, and also because I’d really like to see a story where Anomalocarimon gets to be a cool and bad ass Digimon instead of a joke for a change. That, and…well, I really want a Perfect that’s anything other than Sharkmon, due to the common fandom misconception that Tylomon is a shark (it’s not, it’s a Mosasaur). Plesiomon completes the line as a final prehistoric creature, and also makes every evolution above Child-level a completely different kind of animal lmao.
Punimon and Gigasmon were already decided for me, and so Tsunomon was a no brainer for the second Baby form. Goblimon has at least one rock-based attack so he works for the Child/Rookie form, and from there Grottemon makes a good transition to Gigasmon. I chose Blastmon as an Ultimate/Mega because it remains a Mineral type like Gigasmon, and keeps the brutish theme of the rest of the evolution line.
That said despite being the least favorite of all the Legendary Spirits (like Grumblemon and Gigasmon always end up in last place in all the popularity polls they enter) The Warrior Spirits of Earth are in a pretty good place in the digimon franchise
Frontier Grumblemon was the first boss archtype of the season and made a pretty good first impression. He beat up the main cast by himself a couple of times, stole their spirits and even when the main cast got their power ups they didn't automatically start winning and took them like three different encounters to take him down
He could summon Golemons using his own unique brand of magic
Ghost Game Gigasmon he saw like a movie trailer and thought is was real and OF COURSE decided he needed to bury humanity... as one does
like dude was a whole ass earthbender and started turning people to stone with his touch like dude was crazy
BeatBreak he got something not many side characters get bro got a tamer Fat tits Seraphy Naito. Something something plot plot he was jobber there to job. And everytime he fought I question why didn't he do any of those cool things the first fight
If in Ghost Game he was an earthbender then in BeatBreak he was a logia. Really showing off that regeneration being made of sand and all. Made earth constructs and sand clones
he even got a Xros Fusion with a legends arm.
I guess it would be called Gigasmon X2L ? (The L is for Ludomon)
Ancient Volcamon has it's descendants
so ya
doesn't get a fusion hybrid or transcendent hybrid form
least popular of the hybrids
...but
Has a descendant species
Gets a decent amount of showings
Has a tamer now
Got a Xros Fusion
Heck in one of the most recent polls it was in...Gigasmon wasn't in last place for once???
Hey moving up in the franchise buddy
From the looks of things? doing pretty well, not the flashiest but not the worse either
And it's all thanks to you... Naito
Spirit of Earth wouldn't be here, where it is today without your contribution sir 0_0)7
