✨ Gold in the Morning — With Wells ✨- A Golden What If Story
Wells always thought morning radio would be easy.
Wake up. Drink something caffeinated. Talk into a microphone without accidentally confessing his love for breakfast foods.
But when the Golden Army’s brand-new Gold Radio Network tapped him to host their very first morning show, Gold in the Morning, going out to all of the stations that are part on the Gold Radio Network on the East Coast, he learned something fast:
Morning radio is chaos disguised as enthusiasm.
At 5:59 a.m., Wells was still stumbling into the booth, halfway through buttoning his gold-and-black flannel. The sound engineer yelled:
“BRO! YOU’RE LIVE IN TEN!”
“Ten minutes?” Wells asked hopefully.
“SECONDS!”
And that is how Toronto received its most iconic broadcast open:
“Gooood morning, Golden City! Hold on, wait, okay, yeah, I’m here!”
Once he recovered from the adrenaline of being launched into live radio like a human cannonball, Wells slipped into something natural, something warm, funny, entirely him.
He gave traffic reports like motivational speeches:
“If you’re stuck on the 401, don’t panic as you morning commuters should be used to that already. Remember, diamonds are made under pressure, and right now, you’re basically becoming jewelry.”
He delivered weather updates with unapologetic honesty:
“It’s cold. Wear pants.”
He gave life advice no one asked for:
“If your coffee is weak, BE the coffee.”
And somehow… listeners loved him.
Toronto and the Gold Radio Network woke up with him like he was their personal sunrise.
But the real magic came at 7:15 a.m.
Wells leaned forward into the mic, voice low, warm, a grin you could hear without seeing.
“I got something special for you today. Brand-new, world-premiere special.
This one’s mine.
It’s called T-Minus Zero (The Launch) and trust me… play it loud enough to annoy your neighbors.”
The studio exploded with sound, roaring guitars, huge drums, and Wells’ voice soaring like it was built for stadiums. A rocket-launch countdown echoed under the mix. The chorus lifted like fire.
Somewhere downtown, a commuter fist-pumped. Somewhere uptown, a teenager begged their mom to turn the volume up.
Somewhere on social media, a hashtag was already trending.
By 7:20, the station’s phone lines fried.
By 7:25, fan art was appearing.
By 7:30, someone declared Wells “the caffeine of the soul.”
When the final chord crashed, Wells laughed into the mic, warm, breathless, almost disbelieving.
“Toronto and all of our listeners on the Gold Radio Network… you’re unreal. Let’s make this morning shine.”
And just like that, Gold in the Morning wasn’t just a radio show.
It was a ritual. A vibe. A daily golden recharge.
And Wells? He wasn’t just a host. He was sunrise in flannel.
