Astarion/Gale
"They’re both so performative, but in opposite directions. Astarion performs confidence and seduction because it kept him alive. Gale performs competence and charm because he is terrified of being useless, dangerous, or unwanted. They’d annoy each other SO much at first because each one can see the other doing the act and thinks, gods, is that what I look like? But underneath all the vanity and sarcasm, there’s such a good emotional match. Gale is patient and romantic and wants to give love in tangible ways - food, words, magic, comfort. Astarion is wary as hell, but he also craves luxury and safety and attention so badly. Gale would make him feel cherished. Astarion would make Gale feel desired without worship involved, which is probably exactly what Gale needs after Mystra."

vs. Karlach/Wyll
"I mean, those two are almost implied in the Blade of Avernus, Karlach and Wyll traversing hells together ending. Karlach's dialogue about doing this with someone she loves is both in romanced Karlach ending, and if she's just with Wyll! Karlach was my first romance, and when I saw a non-romanced Karlach and Wyll epilogue for the first time, I just felt such a "it should've been me! Not him!" feeling that it's hard to say there's nothing there. Also, Karlach has been through tough times. She deserves a fairytale prince to sweep her off her feet - what companion doesn't, really, but still. Also, Karlach will stand up for Wyll when he gets too self-sacrificing, I'm sure of that, and he deserves that, too. They're dear to each other, is all I know, and they'd be good together. After they get out of Avernus, I'm sure they could have a good, comfortable life in Baldur's Gate, adventuring, and when needing a break, having a nice house in the upper city to belong to."

I am going to do a best abusive ship tournament. it will be held on this blog tagged #bestabusiveship and tagged per round. right now I will be collecting entries.
you're free to explain why the ship should win / propaganda (but unnecessary) which I will include under a readmore and a picture you'd prefer use, though I may edit especially if there are multiple entries, and indicate if you want to be anonymous or not if I quote you. obviously due to the nature of this, expect potentially triggering content under the readmore. since I don't have anon on, do know if you indicate you want an entry private I will not publish it nor quote you and will keep it anonymous, but just make sure to say such.

the goal is to sort of have a place for ships that can't really win ship tournaments because they are insane and evil but also are intensely compelling dynamics. I would prefer people vote based on what their dynamic is like in canon & the compelling factor of it all. the goal is for a ship to win not because it's the most popular or well liked or fanon heavy but because of its hashtag evil canon depth but obviously I can't control what people do so have fun with it.

V2 X MIRAGE STATUS : FANON
PROPAGANDA : "Mirage is what I'd classify as a human-coded machine, her characteristics are nigh indistinguishable from a human's beyond her appearance. V2 is... just a machine. marketed as a sentient swiss army knife as a desperate effort to make money.
this shows through their stories, which are strongly themed around the concepts of mind and body respectively: M almost entirely dismissing the physical world around her in favor of obsessing over her mind, and V2 thinking of nothing but the theft of their body.
on the more poetic front: despite all odds toward the contrary, Mirage is alive, and V2 is dead.
despite this, or perhaps inevitably due to the single-rail nature of their storylines, M begins to intentionally care about her physical world and self, and V2 starts to think about the nature of itself and its role, thus subverting themselves and crossing over one another.
neither will make the same mistakes the other happened to make, because they have the other to guide them.
conversely both will appreciate watching the other's growth, and see themself in the other. they appreciate each other's company on a general basis of "you won't kill me, and I like to talk to you" but also on the deeper basis of "we're both willing to learn from each other"
on the actual relationship note it's kind of a grey area between friends/lovers situation, really no point in defining a relationship when you're the only two beings in existence.
general physicality is an inevitability (see latter part of previous statement, plus they're both engineered to connect with others), but I'd imagine anything they do romantically or sexually begins more as a calculated experiment than pure instinct. they also just like each other! they both want to make the other feel good!" -recursivetransformarray

Best ship with less than 100 works in AO3 tournament!
The tournament rules are simple: no incest, no minor/adult or child/teen pairings with an age difference greater than 4 years, and no humans
If you have a relatively small ship, whether because it's a rare ship in a large fandom or because it's a ship from an already small fandom, this is your chance to finally make your ship shine!
As the title indicates, the ship cannot reach 100 works; that is, it can have a maximum of 99. If it reaches 100 before the tournament is announced, I might discard it, but if it reaches 100 after the tournament has already started, I suppose I'll keep it.
The ship doesn't even have to have fanfics; it can have 0 works or not have a category at all! As long as it doesn't reach the limit and doesn't violate a few rules on the form, it's allowed.
