Disney Cruise Line (with TWO Toddlers) - St. Maarten
Our second stop on this cruise was St. Maarten and after the #badbeach experience of St. Thomas we were a little wary of this one. Especially since it had around a 40 minute boat cruise to even get to the beach. But, that turned out to just be a highlight! The boat itself was glass bottom, which the kids loved, but even moreso was all the music they played the whole ride there and back! It was just a constant dance party!
When the boat pulled up to the beach we already knew that it was going to be a better experience than we had in St. Thomas. It was a little tricky getting on and off the boat with the kids since it didn’t (and couldn’t) pull right up to the beach, so we were jumping off in knee deep water after going down a ladder in the back. We managed, though. See that little white roofed shack at the far end of the beach? That’s where all the Disney people went and it was absolutely lovely!
Like St. Thomas there was a drop off right off the beach, but it was a bit further out than the previous one so the kids could play in the water a good bit. My oldest made friends with another girl that was there and they had a great time with a boogie board swimming in water that was like walking into a warm bath. Something to note, though, was that there was coral here that was INCREDIBLY sharp. Not an actual reef close to shore, but old pieces that had broken off and were in the deeper water. My husband ended up slicing his toe pretty badly, so everyone should always wear their water shoes!
We had so much fun here everyone lost track of time and we all had to run back to get on the boat! Once again boarding was the hardest part since we had to carry the kids through the water and climb a ladder, but it was all so, so worth it. It was one of the best, most relaxing parts of our trip. And all the way back the kids had a dance party while we had some free rum swizzlers, yum!
This also happened to be formal night as well, so everyone was nice and sunburned in all their pretty outfits for a fancy dinner at Royal Court. And of course, we had to take pictures in front of the statue in the main lobby.
Next up: Pirate night!
