It is never the job of a child to protect themselves from abuse. This job belongs to the adults in their life.
There was a link for this on FJ. It's very shocking to read what has been taught to these children.

RT Spivey could be Robert Tarver Spivey which then could actually be Claire’s father or grandfather! Her brother is also RT Spivey the third lol

You know... I feel a bit like a dummy for not piecing that together haha
Based on the interview with Gothard, it sounds like a different person was in charge at the time that Josh was receiving treatment at the labor trafficking troubled youth center, so I don't know if Claire's dad/grandfather had any direct connection to Josh.
Someone mentioned a Spivey connection to Josh's treatment case...RT Spivey was one of the guys who ran it I believe
Ok, this is what I could find.
Evangelist Bill Gothard, whose Institute for Basic Life Principles runs a faith-based prison program out of what’s known as the Little Rock
Based on this article, there was a building in Little Rock that was rented by the IBLP and ran a program there for troubled youths
The training center, which features a huge, but unmanned and quiet, wood-paneled lobby with a maroon carpeting and chairs upholstered in white fabric, employs seven people, director R.T. Spivey said. It serves the chaplains in the IBLP’s PAL prison program. At one time, the training center operated the “Integrity Construction Institute” for young men, but that program has moved to Alpena.
(I know this next link is the Daily Mail, but it seems as though Gothard did directly speak to them?) Cw for abuse mentioned in the article
Daily Mail Online online has learned the details of the counselling course which Josh Duggar was put into when he admitted abusing some of h
Bill Gothard, who founded the IBLP in 1961, claims Duggar was 'cleansed' by a 'godly mentor' at the group's Little Rock Training Center in Arkansas...
Gothard, 80, who lives in Illinois not far from the IBLP's headquarters - Little Rock was an outpost - said Duggar was put in to the care of trusted training leader Harold Walker.
Walker ran a construction program out of the Little Rock facility and enlisted the help of several young male followers [...]
Josh, the eldest of the 19 Duggar children, arrived on March 17, 2003 and joined other boys on the Integrity Construction Institute program and was put to work renovating the huge dilapidated former VA hospital which IBLP had acquired two years earlier.
As well as learning carpentry skills Duggar, who had just turned 15 when he arrived, carried out general laboring tasks with a small group of other students.
But unlike the other youngsters on the scheme Duggar received personal one-on-one faith counseling to 'cleanse' him of his sexual thoughts. [...]
Gothard said that Walker, the mentor, worked closely with the boys in his care and 'helped them grow spiritually'.
He said: 'Josh was put to work helping with the renovations and learning about carpentry and on the side being instructed spiritually.
'Harold Walker personally counseled Joshua. First of all Harold wanted to know Joshua was a believer and Joshua traces his salvation to his time with Harold[...]
Walker says he recalls Duggar attending the center but can't remember any details.
So I couldn't find anything mentioning RT Spivey being at the center at the time that Josh was at the center, just this Walker guy who doesn't even remember him. I couldn't find the names of Claire's paternal uncles to say if RT Spivey is a relation.
Honestly this whole rehab for wayward boys thing seems like labor trafficking. After Hobby Lobby donated the building to IBLP, they needed to renovate it but had no money. Time to recruit vulnerable boys to work for free.
Petition to rename Bill Gothard's book to "To Beat Up A Child" because that's really what that sick fuck's book is about. The teach you to BEAT LITERAL INFANTS FOR CRYING! Don't support these sickos!
They also say that children shouldn't be allowed to be silly. Honestly these brain dead fucks need prison time. I have no doubt they physically abused their own kids and grandkids.
Duggar Fun Fact #57
Bill Gothard, founder of the IBLP cult and friend of the Duggars, believed that Cabbage Patch dolls were satanic. He believed that a laboring woman would not be able to give birth in a room with a Cabbage Patch doll in it because the unborn child would detect the presence of Satan (yes, really).
Duggar Fun Fact #56
Bill Gothard, the founder of IBLP--an ultra-strict Christian ministry that the Duggars follow--discouraged couples from having sex on the night before worship, so most Saturday nights. I have always found this little tidbit especially weird. (See the “misuse of the OT law” section).
IBLP is also to blame for the Duggars’ extreme modesty and determination to have as many children as possible.
It is sad to think that Bill Gothard brainwashed all of the fundie families into thinking that adoption is bad and sinful. I wish they could see my church’s ministry that specifically helps families that adopt and foster children along with families that have taken other family members in.
A lot of things Gothard taught these families are sad and shameful, but it is interesting that the adoption thing is one of the ones that they have most tried to downplay, cover up, or claim wasn't taught at IBLP even though there's proof it was.
Adoption is a beautiful thing in many cases, but on the whole, I'd prefer fundies not adopt. Too many of them who do are not prepared to do the work that comes with having an adopted child, and are not willing to accept children for who they are as individuals. And frankly, too many of them - and some evangelical Christians- view it as doing a "service" and saving children's souls, rather than looking at it as a precious gift entrusted to them.
