ꮼ Hal Jordan tries to avoid waking you up at all costs
ᦸ having a superhero!husband is sooo sweet, until he wakes you up at ungodly hours of the night and you can't even be mad.
"Son of a—" Hal grumbled under his breath, hissing in pain as his foot made contact with one of the many plants that littered your bedroom. "Fuckfuckfuck."
His eyes flicked to the bed—watching your sleeping form, still snug & calm under the blankets
"Thank god." He sighed, stretching out in bliss as he took in how pretty you looked in the moonlight, taking one step forward before bam!
He tripped over one of your heels & landed flat on his ass.
"Motherfucker!" He yelped, curling up in pain for a moment, freezing in fear as he heard the sheets shifting, before your head leaned over the edge of the bed, glaring down at him.
"You're on the wrong side of the bed, Hal." You hissed, flicking on the lamp with a slow hand. "Why were you coming in on the wrong side?"
"Honey, princess, beautiful, darlin', light of my life," he whispered, scrambling to his knees, padding over to you quickly. "I just wanted to lie with the prettiest girl I've ever seen."
"So annoying, you are sooo annoying, baby." You huffed, tossing a pillow at Hal's chest. "I need my beauty sleep." You glanced at the clock, jaw clicking as you processed the time. "Being woke up at 2 in the morning is not beauty sleep."
"You don't need beauty sleep, you just hate being woken up"
"Everybody hates being woken up."
"I don't hate when you wake me up." Hal mused, crawling on top of you on the bed. "I actually find it pretty endearing."
"Yeah, well, you're weird." You mumbled, averting his gaze as he ducked down to leave soft kisses along your jaw. "So—shit—so weird."
"You married weird." He hummed against your skin, pulling the blanket over both of you with a soft nip to your earlobe. "You looove weird so much, dont'cha baby?"
"Well, weird was tall and muscular."
"Wow, so I'm just nice to look at, nice to know, princess." He grunted, peeling back to kiss your forehead. "I married you over chemistry, & you married me because I'm a nice piece of ass."
"Mm. A sweet, caring, annoying piece of ass." You sighed, pulling him down to press a soft kiss to his lips. "But yes, a sexy little piece of ass that I claimed alllll to myself."

"I know you aren't used to being undercover, but for the love of God, stop looking suspicious," you hiss.
He scoffs. "Says you," he whispers, his breath fanning your ear. "Can't even hold my hand without lookin' like I spit in your mouth."
You whip your head towards him to glare. "That's disgusting, Jordan."
"Kinda the point," he mutters. Then he spaces out, like he's actually thinking about it.
Holding back a groan, your eyes find the “shady therapist” Dinah asked you to gather intel on.
You aren’t stupid. Undercover missions like these are right up your alley. It’s what you’ve trained for. Hal, however? He’s not exactly subtle. And Dinah suggested him of all people as your partner.
It had been your mistake to spill your feelings. Dinah made you feel safe, as if vulnerability were somehow a strength. So you confessed. You'd told her how you wanted to mess up his hair, gaze into those brown eyes, and see yourself reflected in them.
Thinking back on it now, you cringe.
"Okay," the therapist says, pulling you back to the present as she shuffles through some papers. "Let’s start with names."
You open your mouth—
Hal cuts you off. "Hal, and this is my girl—she’s a bit shy," he says, taking your hand and holding it up for the woman to see.
Your brain short circuits. His hand is warm and larger, too. He says it so casually, like this is easy for him.
"My girl?" you repeat, sweetly, squeezing his hand harder.
He squeezes back. "Don’t start, honey. That’s what we’re here for, right? Communication?"
"I’ll show you communication, you asshole," you whisper.
You falter when the therapist pinches the bridge of her nose. Hal’s lips curve upward, and you swear your pulse jumps. Why does he have to look so good?
"Right," she says slowly. "And what seems to be the issue in your relationship?"
"He doesn’t listen," you say immediately.
"She’s kind of a control freak," Hal adds fondly.
The woman sighs. "Okay—"
Your eyes narrow at Hal. "I am not. You’re just impulsive. If you actually listened—"
"You’re so hot when you get worked up." He shrugs.
"Cut me off one more time and I’ll cut off your—"
"See what I deal with?" Hal says, pointing his thumb at you as he looks at the therapist.
You hold yourself back from breaking his thumb.
"I see the problem," the therapist says, giving you both a knowing look. "You," she nods at Hal, "joke so you don’t have to be direct." Then she looks at you. "And you hear those jokes and assume the worst, thinking he means nothing by them."
You shift in your seat. It’s getting hot in here, and Hal is sitting too close for your liking. As if he can hear your thoughts and has decided to make it worse, his hand comes to rest on your thigh.
Weirdly, it makes you feel safe.
The woman lights up and points at you. "Don’t pull away!"
This has to be some kind of humiliation ritual. When you side-eye Hal, he looks like he’s trying not to laugh.
Quietly, he takes your hand and pulls you to your feet. He tosses a few bills onto her desk without counting, flashing a grin.
"Put us down as a success," he says, giving her a salute.
Without waiting for a reply, he drags you out into the bustling street. People brush past, cars honk, the city's loud, but his brown eyes stay locked on you like you’re his whole world.
"As the kids would say, she kinda clocked our shit," you say, breaking the silence awkwardly. He’s still holding your hand.
"Yeah, probably for the best," he mutters, tugging you closer. "Now I can do this." He leans down and kisses you like he’s pouring everything he hasn’t said into it.

content. hal jordan x f!reader, mentions of sex but no actual smut! if we could pretend this was on time for his birthday that would be awesome lolol
“If you were a female anglerfish, would you mate with me?”
You lift your head off Hal’s chest enough to make sure you aren't hallucinating.
“The fuck?”
“If we were anglerfish,” he asks again, “Would you mate with me?”
You can't help but stare, bewildered at how earnest your boyfriend sounds when he asks the question. It's way too late to deal with him right now — unlike him, you have a stable job that needs you in early tomorrow, and you've done your time indulging in his desires all day.
You sigh.
“Go to sleep, Hal.”
You flop back onto his chest, ready to doze the night away peacefully before he tugs on your scalp, ignoring your yelp as he forces your head up.
“Come on,” he insists, “Indulge the birthday boy a little!”
“Never call yourself the birthday boy again.”
“You told me two hours ago that we were going to have birthday sex, that makes me the birthday boy—”
“Oh my god!”
Your hands smack down on his mouth as your cheeks burn, not hard enough to leave any marks, just with the hope that it would get him to stop talking. You could never be so lucky.
“You were really good, babe,” he adds unhelpfully, voice muffled by your fingers, “'s what made me think of the question in the first place.”
You did so well that you reminded him of an anglerfish?
A horrified noise escapes your throat.
He laughs, the low rumble of his chest sending electricity down your spine. His hands move up to grab yours, thumb tracing the skin of your wrists, guiding them away to free his mouth for more heinous words to escape. “Jus’ hear me out — imagine you're an anglerfish — the prettiest one in the entire sea, of course, would you let a guy like me inside you?”
“I've already let you inside me.”
“But it's different! Did you know that upon mating, the male fuses with the female?”
Hal's hands run from your shoulderblades down your waist, settling at your hips underneath the blankets, fingers playfully squeezing your skin.
You're too cute like this, he thinks. Lips pressed together, curving into a pout, eyebrows furrowed as you try to be mad at him. All for him, barely visible in the dark of your small room, the only thing separating this moment from the outside world are the janky, half-closed blinds he can never get to close quite right.
And it is his birthday today. The world has gotten enough of you; doesn't he deserve to have you in private?
He allows himself to imagine for a moment— is tissues fused to yours, sinew and muscle intertwining into either, your blood vessels becoming his, your hearts beating at the same pace.
(Hal doesn't mind it — the thought of being completely yours.
So much so that his next words come out wistful.)
“I would get utterly absorbed by you, forever physically bound to you.”
Well.
You didn't know that.
You suddenly become acutely aware of just how close he is to you right now, sandwiched between the blanket and the heat that exudes from his bare body.
Moonlight bleeds on the side of his face, highlighting the gleam in the chocolate in his eyes, akin to reverence.
(Does he know that you would do anything for him? For the boy who rivals the sun?)
“That's … kinda hot.”
He nods.
“Well?”
Hal Jordan is a lot of things. Loud, brash, and incredibly annoying, to name a few — one thing he is not is fickle.
You know that the months he's in space away from Earth are spent thinking about you, fighting so you can have a semblance of a life together. It's the fact that he works so hard that makes it hard to be mad at him, and makes it even more difficult to resist his declarations of love, however weird they are.
Just outside, you can hear the waves of Coast City's oceans crash against eachother, lapping against the port — just like the sand, you can't help but sink deeper into Hal Jordan.
Your nose twitches.
“Would he look like you?”
He thinks for a moment, eyebrows furrowing. “I'd like to think so.”
“Would he piss me off the same way?”
“How so?”
You giggle. “By asking weird-ass hypotheticals in the middle of the night.”
“Oh, absolutely.”
You smile, clasping his face in your hands, feeling his cheeks warm up at your touch. Heat creeps to the edge of his earlobes, a flush of visible red on his face.
You lean in until you can feel his breath on your lips, half-lidded eyes filled with unmet desire meeting yours.
“Would he be just as kind and thoughtful as the man underneath me right now?”
Hal's eyelashes flutter, his sentence quiet. “He would try.”
“And would he love me as you do?”
He trembles, the vice grip on your hips only tightening. It's almost too much — how much he loves you and how much you love him, just how lucky he is to be the apple of your eye.
He doesn't know how he ever convinced you that he, of all people, was the person for you — hell, he doesn't even know if he deserves it, the foreign feeling of being special to someone like you. But under the Green Lantern suit, Hal Jordan is only human, so he can't help his selfishness.
“There isn't a universe,” his voice wobbles, “Where I am not deeply and madly in love with you.”
…
How were you not supposed to fall in love with every inch of him?
You pull back, just enough to revel in the expression he gives you. A thumb caresses the shadow on his jaw, your other hand brushing the lone curl away from his face.
“Then yeah,” you breathe, “I'd mate with you.”
“You sure?” He asks, “I wouldn't be a Green Lantern type of an anglerfish, just a regular one—”
You interrupt him by closing the distance, pressing your lips against his. The kiss is short and soft, not nearly as passionate as the exchanges you had a few hours prior, but something about it makes him want to cry.
“I would gladly spend the rest of my life with you, Jordan. Anglerfish cannibalism or not.”
His chest stops moving underneath you, breath caught in his throat. If it weren't for how erratically his heart thumps against his ribs, he thinks he might die trapped between your arms.
(It’s almost ironic, he thinks — how far he'd go to live for you in battle and how willing he is to die by your own hands.)
He can't respond in any other way than to kiss you again. And again. And again, and again, and again and again, on your eyes, nose, lips — on your cheeks, jaw, and neck, until he's out of breath and you're whining at his touch, all his energy spent on loving you. There's nothing else he'd rather be doing — truly, he could kiss you until the sun rises, but it's looking like it might actually soon, and unlike him, you have a stable job that needs you in early tomorrow.
(You've done your time indulging in his desires all day, but Hal's always been the type to celebrate his birthday week. He'll be waiting for your affection after you get off of work.)
Eventually, he grounds out—
“… Cannibalism is the wrong term for it. It's actually an extreme form of sexual parasitism.”
You groan.
“Do you ever shut the fuck up?”
“Next question, would you still love me if I were a worm?”
“I'm breaking up with you!”
His arms wrap around your waist, flipping you over faster than you can register what's happening. Heavy exhales turn into fits of laughter as your back hits the mattress, his nose burying into the crook of your neck, collapsing his entire body weight on top of you.
“Don't even joke about that.” He grumbles under his breath, lips curving into a pout against your skin as you giggle, clutching him close to you.
Unfortunately for everyone else involved, Hal Jordan completes you.
He doesn't need to spew out a billion hypotheticals to know that, nor do you need to turn him into a barely functioning sperm-producing appendage reliant on your bloodstream.
(Though, it might be fun to try.)
he checks ur internet search history and its all searches of how to fuse two humans lmfao
“I’m home, honey!” HAL JORDAN says, stepping through the door with a relieved expression, happy to finally be home with you. Before he can open his arms, though, you’ve already thrown yourself against him.
He leans against the wall for support and, freeing one arm from your tight grip, he gently ruffles your hair. “Missed me?”
You notice it immediately: the tease so full of love, almost a statement rather than a question. It makes you roll your eyes and, at the same time, want to smile in the truest way you know how.
“Come on, you were counting the minutes. Just be honest,” he insists, fingers threading through your curls as his lips brush your nose, trailing down your cheek, but stopping just short of your mouth.
You stare at him for a few moments, hoping he'll give in — it doesn't happen. Of course not. You're facing the strongest will in the universe; it’s up to you to give in.
It's a small whisper, a “yes, Hal, I missed you” made just for him. He smiles, and you can’t help but mirror him.
“I know you did,” he murmurs against your lips, finally kissing you. His ring glows, illuminating your hair in the Lantern’s green, and you feel him melt a little, just a little.

summary: you decided to handle the gifts this year in hopes of taking off some pressure off your brother's shoulders. You take your boyfriend Hal along for the fun, and everything goes smoothly… until it doesn't
a/n: making reader Damian's favourite>>>>
m.list
Both you and Hal knew shopping for gifts for anyone in your family won't be an easy task. Your brother has enough money to buy everything he or his kids could want after all.
To make things easier for yourself, you had asked everyone to write a letter 'to Santa' with things they want, no matter if it's something silly. To ensure they actually go with it, you threaten that every person who fails to write anything will receive the ugliest sweater as their gift.
So far things had been going rather well, some things making more sense than others, and only one person didn't write a letter.
"Alright, so we have the jumper with whatever-that-character-is Duke asked for, daggers as earrings for Cass, limited edition classic novels for Jason, matching sweaters for Dick and Haley, a questionable set of items for Tim and the world's ugliest Christmas sweater for Bruce." You recount the purchases you made, looking over the bags Hal put on one of the benches in the mall. "What does this leave us with?"
"Damian and Alfred" Hal reads out the names on the envelopes, taking Damian's and opening it. "Damian should be easier, right? You mentioned he likes arts; maybe he wants…" Hal's voice drifts off as he reads Damian's wishes.
"Love? What is it?" You asked, looking over Hal's shoulder to read the letter.
Dear Santa,
I do not wish for much this holidays, my Father provides me with everything I need. You can make sure that Green Lantern stays away from (name), he irritates me with hogging all of their time. That's something Father seems to not be able to do, so I shall try my luck with you.
— Damian
You giggle, covering your mouth to try and hide it.
"Do I really hog all your time?" Hal questioned, looking at you with tight brows and a pout to his lips.
"No, love, it just…" You cleared your throat to stop laughing. "You know how Damian is."
"Yeah, well that doesn't help with his gift." Hal sighed, picking up one of the bags to make space for himself on the bench.
"I know. Why don't we look for stuff for Alfred and worry about him later, hm?" You suggested taking Alfred's envelope.
"Worry later? You better not break up with me after I drag all these bags to the car," Hal gasped, his palm on his chest.
You shrugged, giggling as you started to walk away.
"Hey! Don't do that! It's not funny!" Hal jumps from the bench, grabbing the bags to run after you.
You turn around, cupping Hal's cheeks and leaving a peck on his lips.
"I'd never do that," you reassure him, and Hal smiles. "I still need someone to help me bring them to my apartment."
The smile on Hal's lips fell. You giggled, grabbing his arm to walk towards another store. Before you two made it, an idea came to Hal's mind.
"You haven't told your family yet?" He asked, slowing down. "About, you know," he gestured towards your palm.
"No, not yet." You shook your head before tilting it. "Why…?"
"We could tell them as a part of Damian's gift." Hal grinned, picking up the pace. "We can be like, 'Congrats, we're no longer dating,' and when everyone gasps and he gets that stupid grin on his face, we can be like, 'We're engaged!'"
"I'm not making our engagement part of Damian's gift," you roll your eyes. "If it was Bruce we would be talking about, then yes, but not Damian; he's a sweet kid."
Hal scoffs, biting his tongue from suggesting you have your taste buds checked out if you believe he's sweet.

your moodboard is here !
Older bf!Hal Jordan who rarely argues with you, except when you pay for something with your own money, or when you drive yourself somewhere, because that's what he's there for!! It's not that he doesn't believe you're capable or independent, but more so that he is terrified of anything happening to you without him being around. He has been surrounded by loss and danger for the biggest part of his life, so he is hyperaware of his and your surroundings.
You've learned to get used to it, to him doing things for you, like feeding you or tying your shoelaces; to the warm presence of his hand at the back of your neck so he can lead you around the street, to having a bedtime even if you're a grown woman.
Older bf!Hal Jordan who told you you should have a bedtime for when he was away, so he wouldn't come home and find you laying uncomfortably on the couch, blankets thrown on the floor, pillows smushed beneath your cheek. So he wouldn't have to worry about you being tired, about you not sleeping enough, or about you skipping class to get a couple more hours of sleep. But now it's become routine, you'll be lying on the couch with him, your head on his lap as you scroll on your phone.
Hal notices the time, ten o clock. You should be going to bed right about then, but you're laughing at some tiktok and he can't bring himself to argue with you, so he waits a couple minutes, until it's a quarter past ten, and he's getting up from the couch and pulling you up to your feet.
"Phone, now." He holds his hand out for you to give him your phone, and you do, because you're too tired to argue, and he was right, it was late. So you rubbyour eyes sleepily and let him pick you up and carry you to bed, not really listening to whatever dumb joke he is making, already half asleep.
Older bf!Hal Jordan who is constantly texting you when he's away, and it's so selfish and so stupid, but he would never let you know of his ulterior motives. You get a text every night: “need to see my pretty girl” and you’ll send him a selfie, a pretty picture of yourself, smiling wide at the camera lens. But that’s not enough for him, because after bombarding you with “did you get enough sleep last night?” and “how was class? did you reply to your professor’s email?” or “what did you eat today, baby?” he’s asking for another picture. Another kind of picture, telling you how much he misses you, how he needs to be inside you, and you obviously oblige.
Older bf!Hal Jordan who is tired of hearing your friends’ dating horror stories. Genuinely, he is so tired. It’s what they get for giving college boys a chance, he thinks, but he never says anything about that. Just feels proud that he’s not afraid to eat your beautiful pussy out. And Hal does it for the love of the game, he eats it for his own pleasure, until you’re crying out for him and scraping at his scalp, pulling his hair so hard he thinks he might see stars. For him it’s an act of devotion, it’s a way to show you just how much he wants you, just how much you mean to him.

The corner cafe near the League Tower wasn't exactly glamorous, but it had good espresso and few cameras, making it a decent retreat for two civilian superheroes who just wanted to chat like normal people. Barry stirred his coffee with a plastic spoon, making circles as if the movement helped him gather his thoughts.
"I swear it's not a big deal," Barry said, smiling awkwardly as he stirred his coffee. "Just... I don't know. I always run into her at Central when there's trouble. It's like she has radar for explosions."
Hal looked at him from across the table, one eyebrow raised. “A civilian?”
"Yes, absolutely. I think she works near the center. she's always around that area," Barry replied, unconsciously lowering his voice, as if saying it out loud would give more weight to everything he'd been suppressing. "And she's always close to danger for some reason, but she never reacts in a hurry, never seems afraid, always stays to help."
He paused, his gaze lost for a second in the café window. And, unwillingly, he smiled. He thought of the time he saw her pull a baby boy from the rubble of a destroyed toy store. How the baby had trembled in her hands as she cradled him, but she continued to speak to him in a calm voice. He thought of how she had said "thank you" to him with her eyes still full of dust and her smile intact.
"She has that vibe of... you know," he said. "A good person. One of those, when they're there, they make a difference. A beautiful smile, and a look... as if she's known you all her life even though she's seeing you for the first time. She's one of those girls who... I don't know. Makes you want to introduce yourself. To invite her out for coffee."
Hal watched him intently, his arms crossed and his expression carefully neutral. He didn't say anything right away.
And Barry, who didn't suspect anything, just shrugged. "I guess she has that... I don't know, like a light. Something that gives you peace. Maybe that's why I can't get her out of my head."
Hal held his mug, turning it slowly between his fingers, before calmly answering. "She hits you hard, huh?" he said, without judgment, just stating the obvious.
Barry gave a short, somewhat embarrassed laugh. "No. I mean, not loud. It just kept going around in my head. It's weird. She's a civilian, probably has a boyfriend, a cat, a normal life... But if I run into her again, I'll cheer up. Anyway... what's the worst that can happen?"
Hal took a sip of his drink, saying nothing. He just smiled, but it was barely perceptible. "Well, maybe you'll get lucky and she'll like Flash."
Barry smiled, half-excited. "Can you imagine? I run into her one more time and I cheer up. After all, what's the worst that could happen?
Hal calmly lowered his cup, barely shrugging. "Who knows, Barry... the world goes around."
Days later, Barry was walking through a pedestrian zone in Central City, fresh off patrol. Out of uniform, wearing dark glasses, and in the typical need for a cup of coffee. Just as he stopped in front of his usual coffee shop, he saw them: a couple, laughing at one of the small tables in the sun.
It took him a second to recognize Hal Jordan. Leather jacket, glasses dangling from his neck, that carefree attitude, Hal saw him first.
"Barry!" he greeted in his usual confident, half-mocking voice. "What a coincidence. Come on, I'll introduce you to someone."
Slowly, he approached the table where the two were enjoying the lovely afternoon. you turned to him curiously, and upon recognizing him, you smiled. The same smile. The one Barry had often imagined behind a cup of coffee or in the middle of an explosion. .
"Hi," you said politely, holding out your hand. "So you're Barry."
"Huh? Me? Do you know me?"
"Of course. Hal always talks about you. A lot. Especially when he's complaining" you said, laughing."t's nice to see you without an explosion in the background.
"Uh... yeah," Barry said, with a nervous laugh. "I'm trying that walking thing today."
Hal was already settling into his chair with gusto. "Barry, this is my girlfriend. Although I think you've met before, right?"
"Yeah, uh..." He looked at her, trying to sound normal. "We ran into each other a couple of times. Nothing major. Landslides. Fire. Just the routine, you know."
"You're always where you're needed," you said, leaning slightly towards him. "It's kind of funny always running into each other."
"Yeah, it's funny," Barry replied, forcing a smile. "But you didn't seem too surprised to be there either."
You gave him a gentle look. One that neither confirmed nor denied anything. "Let's just say... I have a certain affinity for emergencies."
"Affinity?" Barry repeated, tilting his head slightly. "It sounds… uncivil."
"It depends on how you define “civilian,” you said with a half smile. “All three of us are civilians, aren’t we?”
Barry nodded, swallowing. “Well, I don’t remember seeing you, you know, the other way.”
You crossed your arms, smiling playfully, as if that sentence opened the door to a secret you weren't quite ready to share. "I don't usually flaunt it," you replied. "Sometimes, being discreet helps more than being the center of attention, especially if you're dressed all in blue."
Hal burst out laughing, clearly enjoying the scene. "She prefers to keep a low profile," he said simply. "But trust me, when things get ugly, she's the first one to show up in a suit."
Barry looked at you with a mixture of astonishment and resignation, as if he understood that all that "affinity" you'd mentioned had a deeper explanation. "So you're not so civil after all."
"Not exactly," you confirmed with a smile. "Want to stay and have a drink with us? We have a free seat."
"No, thanks. I'll have coffee waiting for me... and you know, supervillains never rest," Barry said, standing up with a tired but genuine smile.
Hal leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms in satisfaction. "So you run away just when you could learn a thing or two."
"Let's just say I'd rather face explosions than awkward conversations," Barry replied, winking at you before walking away. "But thanks for the invitation."
You watched him walk away, his figure disappearing into the crowd. "He's a nice guy, stop bothering him" you commented.
Hal nodded, still smiling. He laced his fingers through yours, and the world kept turning, with more things to say and fewer words to weigh them down.
Barry turned and left. He walked a few feet. And he muttered, without pausing: "The world is spinning, Barry, maybe he likes Flash" he repeated mockingly. "Perfect, now I'm going to have to disappear from this earth so he'll stop making fun of me."
