What do they smell like?

As someone with an extremely sensitive nose, I have a knack for identifying good fragrances. After a late night chitty chat with @icyserpentarts this is the post of the day! What do our favorite Kengan Ashura characters smell like, and what colognes/perfumes would I recommend to fully understand the vision?

Kanoh Agito - the Fang is a machine for violence, constantly evolving fight after fight, and his scent reflects that. He is dressed to impress, dawning custom tailored suits, but behind that poise exterior is an animal waiting to tear into its next victim. A once freshly bathed, clean smelling man has now been doused in blood. He is both a dream and a nightmare.

Rec: Against Nature by Timothy Han

Yōkai Hakashita - his aura alone paints the perfect picture of how dangerous he is. Yōkai lurks, haunting the shadows, walking the halls without making a sound, yet he is not there as a threat, just a looming figure. You smell elegance and darkness, something unfamiliar to the nose, although it is not off putting. He is entirely recognizable, yet he somehow remains a mystery.

Sen Hatsumi - sleaze done right (if that's even possible). He can be a gentleman, or he can be an absolute menace, it just depends on the day. You want to punch him in the face sometimes, but you also want to make passionate love to that gentle smile. Honestly, he is the definition of hard-to-get and adheres to his playful nature. Musk and something sweet rests on his collar.

Kaolan Wongsawat - the Thai God of War paints one hell of a picture. His devotion, soft expression, and overwhelming strength display the beautiful connection between power and control. Bright citrus, spices, and a warm depth lingers in every place he occupies. His majesty only wishes he could grace the man's throat every day just to admire that erotica scent.

Raian Kure - dark and demented, he embraces his inner demons. Fear crawls from his shadow and into the souls of those around him. The animal inside, a sword fresh from the kill, and dead set on assassinating those who dare threaten his family. He is evil incarnate, scented of sweet death, musk, and something animalic under his skin.

Ryo Himuro - he's a bit of a wild card who knows he's worth your time. Man is pretty, but not overly extravagant. There's a unique edge to him, and it's not the bright white hair, either. Himuro is a very refreshing character, almost like ice cold water in the heat of summer, yet there's an artificial element to his look.

Rec: Fragrance 03 - Blonde by Ded Cool

Jun Sekibayashi - he's a non-complicated man who lives for the thrill. His aura is completely original to him. Everything about him is signature down to his very scent. Strong, familiar, and ultimately drug store bought, Seki matches his entire routine to one smell, which varies slightly depending on his mood.

Rec: Bod or Old Spice body sprays.

Ohma Tokita - he lived in the forest for what feels like forever and even bathed in the river. He still enjoys the outdoors and likely takes on the scent of dark nature elements. My first thought is musty, wet stone, pine, and something trying to be fresh. This is obviously masked by a proper shower during his time with Yamashita, but it's still present on his skin.

Haruo Kono - soapy boy, clean boy. Haruo might not appear to be a clean boy, but because of the teasing and consistent sweating, he takes very good care of himself. There are no fancy perfumes, lotions, or oils, just body wash and deodorant. He always smells clean, but not refreshing like mint or fruity like a bubble bath, simply suds.

Saw Paing - boy is LOUD and PROUD. He will take on any challenger and withstand the test of time. Saw is a man with a soft ego who is trying to be the best, but he doesn't need to push himself that hard. Classic scents are typically green with a musky base and floral goodness on top, but Saw has a little more drama.

Seishu Akoya - similar to the streets he guards, Akoya is the definition of brutalism. His body is build like krushchevka: stoic, uncomplicated, and built for one thing. Damp asphalt, rich florals, and spice define the undefinable, transforming him into a piece of the city he stalks.

You had interviewed dozens of CEOs, tech giants, and business moguls over the years. Usually it was the same routine: carefully worded answers, a sterile boardroom, and maybe a weak smile for the headline photo. Predictable. Safe.

This? This was something else entirely.

The Kengan Association’s merger with Purgatory had thrown the business world — and by extension, your newsroom — into chaos. Your editor had called it “a new era of reporting,” though you suspected that was just a fancy way of saying you’d been drafted into something no one really understood yet. And so, with a quick shove and a new assignment, you’d been told:

Your first profile is on a fighter. Name’s Jun Sekibayashi. A pro wrestler. Good luck.

You had laughed nervously at first, waiting for the punchline. But now, sitting in a cramped press room with your notebook balanced on your knee, you felt the laughter dry up.

The air shifted as the doors swung open.

“BEHOLD!” A booming voice filled the room, rattling off the walls. “THE MASKED COLOSSUS STANDS BEFORE YOU!”

He didn’t walk in — he stormed in. Jun Sekibayashi, mask gleaming under the lights, towering frame larger than life. He threw his arms out wide, commanding the room like it was his own arena.

Reporters laughed. Cameras clicked. Theatrics rolled off him like thunder.

Your stomach twisted with nerves, but your pulse quickened too — excitement cutting through the fear. This wasn’t a boardroom CEO with rehearsed lines. This was chaos in a mask, and for some reason, your editor thought you were the right person to make sense of it.

Jun’s booming voice carried as he answered the first question with a flex, the second with a roar. But then his gaze cut across the crowd and landed on you.

The grin behind the mask shifted, sharp and knowing.

“You there,” he said, pointing directly at you. “New face. Serious eyes. You’re not laughing.”

You swallowed, fingers tightening on your pen. “I’m not here for a performance,” you said, surprised at how steady your voice sounded. “I’m here to hear you, the real you.”

The room went quiet. For the first time, Jun leaned closer, his shadow spilling across your notes. His voice dropped, lower, rumbling.

His grin shifted, sharp behind the mask of his persona. “Reporter. You’re not entertained?”

Several heads turned to look at you. Your stomach tightened, but your voice came out smooth. “I’m not here to be entertained. I’m here for the truth behind the mask.”

“Then keep that pen ready, reporter,” he said, almost like a challenge. “Because the truth’s about to hit harder than any slam.”

Your heart hammered, nerves and excitement blurring into one. Your pulse jumped, but you kept your face neutral, writing one word on the page before looking back up at him. “Go on.”

Maybe your boss hadn’t been wrong to assign you after all.

The match was over, but the air still buzzed with heat and noise. Jun Sekibayashi stood tall in the center of the ring, chest heaving, mask split down the middle. The medics waited at the ropes, the crowd still chanting his name, but Jun only turned his head toward the edge of the ring, toward you.

Notebook forgotten in your hands, you hadn’t moved since the bell rang. It felt strange, standing here as a reporter, when what you’d just witnessed didn’t feel like something you could capture with neat quotes and polished sentences.

“You stayed,” Jun said, his voice ragged but loud enough to cut through the rink.

“I said I would,” you answered, forcing steadiness even though your heart was pounding.

You gathered up your notebook and recorder, tucking them carefully back into your bag. “Well, Jun, I think I have everything I need for the article.”

He tilted his head, mask cracked but grin still wide. “Already? You sure you don’t want to stick around a little longer? I can keep the show going all night if you’d like.”

You froze for just a second. Stay the night. With Jun Sekibayashi. That man was unbelievable.

You shook your head with a small smile, zipping your bag shut. “As entertaining as that sounds, I should be getting home. Some of us have deadlines.”

“Deadlines…” he repeated with mock drama, standing as if the word itself wounded him. “Fine, fine. But I have a feeling this won’t be the last time we see each other, reporter.”

Your brow lifted. “What makes you so sure?”

Jun chuckled, though it ended in a wince. He raised the broken mask high, shouting to the crowd: “People call wrestling fake! But every slam, every scar, every breath is real!” The crowd erupted, and yet, even as they screamed, his eyes never left yours. “And so is this.”

He leaned closer, lowering his voice. “Because stories don’t end when the mask comes off. And you haven’t written all of mine yet.”

The words stuck with you walked you out to the waiting car. He held the door open with a flourish, bowing just enough to make you roll your eyes and laugh under your breath.

“Well,” he said, voice quieter now, almost sincere beneath the theatrics. “This is where our little chat ends.”

You hesitated, then closed your notebook. “I think I got more than I expected.”

His grin stretched wide, but it wasn’t just showmanship. “Then I guess this isn’t our last round. You’ll be back.”

You smirked despite yourself. “Maybe. Maybe I will.”

The officials were climbing into the ring now, pulling at his arm, urging him toward the medics. Jun waved them off long enough to add, “If you come back, I’ll be sure to save you a front-row seat.”

Something warm sparked in your chest as you stepped back, the noise of the arena swallowing you again. Still, you couldn’t resist calling up one last time as you turned to leave:

“You know what, Jun? I think I will come back.”

He laughed, throwing his head back even as the medics fussed over him, his booming voice echoing through the arena. “Then it’s a promise, reporter!”

The image of him battered, grinning, face shattered but spirit unbroken, followed you out into the night, lingering like a headline you weren’t quite ready to write.

You stepped into the car and glanced back at him. Something about his energy — exhausting, magnetic, impossible to ignore, made it hard to just leave it at that.

“I think I might come back.”

The car pulled away, the image of him — battered mask, larger-than-life presence, and all — lingering long after.

Kono Haruo Friendship with a Pro-gamer Headcanons

For Anon, thank you for the request!

Minor spoilers from Kengan Ashura, but I think the anime has covered that part so those who only watched that should be fine!

It’s pretty hard not to notice Haruo, wherever he goes. He may be pretty intimidating to some, but give him a chance. He’s just an awkward dude who means well and genuinely wants to better himself- as his gamer friend will find out.

Talks about gaming between the two of them is an enthusiastic experience. Whether it be game mechanics, favourite characters, their opinions on the latest releases; and especially the game that the pro-gamer specialises in. Haruo will support them whole-heartedly and attend any event they play at (if he has the time. If not, he’ll be on the streams).

The same can be said about his gamer friend supporting Haruo during his matches. Though they won’t understand everything (and they won’t know about underground matches), they support him nonetheless and will attend his matches if they can.

They compete with each other frequently in games, trying to beat each others’ high scores. So far, even if one beats the other, the tables will eventually turn. 

Through Haruo, his gamer friend meets loads of people from SJPW too! Sekibayashi is really happy that Haruo’s made a close friend outside of wrestling, and hey, it’s motivating him to work even harder so that’s all the better! Haruo’s friend will frequently get invited to lunch, and will probably have the chance to try Seki’s special curry- an extra large portion.

Their relationship doesn’t stop at gaming and supporting each other. The friendship can deepen, the two of them sharing life experiences and such. It will be surprising for his friend to find out his past and how he was like in the past. Haruo would probably be a little embarrassed, noting how much he’s changed since then; but he would appreciate his gamer friend noting that even though he might’ve taken a downturn before, he’s pulled himself back up. And that’s a great thing.

Haruo and Sekibayashi have a surprisingly cute relationship. Any fluffy stuff about them.

You know what, Sekibayashi didn’t have to take Haruo under his wing, but he did and I really fuck with that.

Everyone needs a big buff wrestler to adopt them when they’re feeling low.

- When Haruo first started training under Jun, he hadn’t fully grown out of his brat mentality, which led to a lot of fits being thrown.

- But, Jun and Kurachi have been there before. They know the quickest way to deal with entitled, demanding trainees is to assign more and more exercises and hold back meals until they finish.

- Jun likes to test out new recipes with Haruo and sometimes Cosmo. It’s good when you have multiple people with big appetites around.

- Haruo has tried getting Jun into videogames but it’s a losing battle. Jun will watch him play though. So far his favorite to watch is Monster Hunter.

- When Haruo reaches a new milestone, Jun rewards him with choosing dinner or a new game. Gotta incentivize things even though he’s not supposed to.

- Jun has painted Haruo’s face like his Marvelous Seki persona’s at least twice.

- They have yet to decide on a finishing move for Haruo

- Jun’s energy feeds into Haruo’s and they go wild during matches. Jun is a very positive influence for Haruo

- These two play wrestle all the time.

- Other people’s cooking doesn’t hit the same as Jun’s for Haruo anymore.

- Jun is a hype man. When Haruo is feeling self conscious, Jun is there to quickly remind him why he’s better than that.

- Cosmo and Haruo have ended up hanging out a bit due to their mutual friendship with Jun.

- Jun is kind of terrible with using technology. Haruo gets so weirded out by this. He doesn’t understand how Jun can live like that.

- found out early that cornrows are not Haruo’s thing.

- Haruo has an online wishlist filled with gifts he wants to buy Jun. most of them are new wrestling gear.

“There’s suppose to be the spirit of a woman who cries when you say her name,” LIhito explains.

“Maybe if you start flexing, she’ll want to come out,” you suggest, earning you three glares and a snort from Himuro.

He'll take for a romantic walk through the woods, enjoying the changes in nature and a spiced coffee. Hatsumi is known to have a greasy love life, but this date proves that he can be a down-to-earth man. He walks down the creeks looking for unique stones and helps you cross over the rocks with a steady hand.

“You know, I used to play here as a kid,” Hatsumi explained. “Had my first kiss here, too.”

“Would you like to have your second one?” You wink and enjoy a moment of passion.

It's time to start raiding the pumpkin patches for jack-o-lantern projects! Haruo will carry all of your pumpkins until you get home. From there, you listen to silly Halloween music and carve away! He loves the traditional jack-o-lantern style while you start to get crafty with yours.
