An Incredibly comprehensive list. I have a lot of thoughts™️. Hidden under the cut bc this is LONG (Also, this "universe", you could say is set in current day, but i might also make a version of this post for my 2000's version of Danny Phantom)
GENERAL
Amity Park is in Ohio, specifically the part of it where the Rust Belt melts into Appalachia. It's also decently close to lake Erie (sorry, lake Eerie). It's a small town, but it has surprisingly has a small mall and a few other similar places. Basically picture the classic small town from a 2000s teen movie about spooky occurrences. Curiously, some of the buildings on the outskirts look kinda like those "suburb" houses, but smaller. The town is surrounded by fields, small patches of forest and road, the only exceptions being Elmerton, a similar small town 40 minutes away by bus (that only travels twice a day), and an old countryside manorhouse, abandoned since the 1940's). The whole town's infrastructure seems to be stuck in the past, looking straight from the 80s - 2000s. The town was weird even before the portal opened, ghosts still existed there, they were just... less visible. More like the usual ghosts appearing in media - quiet, faint and decidedly not capable of shooting green goo out of their hands. The ectoplasm levels were higher than in most places, thats why Maddie and Jack decided to live there and work on their experiments
Casper High is a big brick building built in the mid 1930's. It's kinda old, with creaky pipes and that old building smell. It got renovated in the 70's but it definitely is still kinda... rickety. This ⬇️ is exactly how i imagine it looking.
EVERLASTING TRIO
Danny
- Danny Fenton queer allegory is real. That boy is transgender and bisexual (and polyamorous, but he doesn't know it yet.)
- His music taste is wild, a mix of everything. He likes emo music, midwest emo, some punk, rock, he listens to a lot of indie music, his guilty pleasure is this sorta "3-4 white guys from portland with beards in the 2010's" music, you know the kind. He also wont say no to older pop music, and he also listens to a lot of silly/joke songs ("My Superhero Movie", from the teen titans go movie, for example) He also got introduced to New Wave by Sam and is slowly but surely becoming part of the subculture.
- Because of the portal accident, he has chronic pain in the left side of his body, as well as the occasional spasm there. He also has this sort of rigidness in his joints, and doesn't want to ponder why. He won't admit it, both to not worry his friends and family, raise suspicion and because he doesn't want to admit it even to himself
- he has ADHD, but he's been bullied for being "autistic" at school, because his peers mistook his socially awkward behaviour for being autistic. He does have some autistic traits, but not enough for a diagnosis
- after the accident, people he's not close with start instinctively distancing themselves from him. He sets off alarm bells in them, he's too still, too quiet and too weird. He smells faintly of formaldehyde, dead things and an old church, and he also has a staring problem
- Since ghosts look like they wish to/their "true self" his ghost form basically looks like his gender goals. A few months after becoming a ghost, he noticed that his body started looking more masculine in human form too. Ghost HRT. He's incredibly happy, because even though he did start taking puberty blockers early on, he only started after the first signs of it appeared, so he didn't look as masculine as he could've. Until now, that is
- freckles freckles and more freckles. In ghost form, they look like constellations and glow this sorta cyan colour
- definitely act sort of "animalistic" because of his half ghostliness. (Becuase of this he lurks in the otherkin community since he relates to them a lot)
- he just kinda. Forgets to breathe sometimes.
- he conveniently sees a lot of animals associated with death. He hears crows in the distance constantly (<-this one is inspired by me. I'm being gangstalked by corvids, istg /silly), cats like him, dogs adore him, whenever he's in a forest he sees an owl and bats show up at his window at least twice a week
- nefarious hoodie stealer
- he's planning to get a tattoo of Laika as soon as he can
Tucker
- furry. His fursona is a red panda, he decided his friends fursonas, he's been to conventions, he has a whole oc story about furries.
- auDHD. His 504 plan allows him to take notes on an ipad instead of on paper
- LOVES old technology. He also wont turn down modern tech from smaller brands, especially if they look retro. Tinkers with every bit of tech he can get his hands on, currently in the process of creating a cyberdeck
- geek in every sense of the word. Western comic books, anime & manga, fantasy and sci-fi books, vocaloids, old games, everything like that
- avid reader of warrior cats and wings of fire, HUGE animal jam fan as a kid
- likes ttrpg's, enjoys DND but prefers home brew
- total theatre kid. Has watched it ALL
- big chunky silver square shaped headphones that are almost half the size of his head and covered in stickers
- Egyptian ancestry. He's not a reincarnation of Duulaman, but the first descendant of him to harness his powers in a while. After his possession incident he gets a small amount of ghost powers. He's also from Haiti and has small amounts of Polish ancestry (funfact: polish soldiers helped haitians lead a revolt, leading to a lot of polish people staying on the island) which explains why his eyes are a lighter colour
- his safe foods are either pretty bland (chicken nuggest, burger, fries) or incredibly spicy, but all of them contain meat in some form. He also really likes Cosmic Brownies
- immune system of a potato. Seriously, get's sickly and sniffly at the drop of a hat. Poor guy ☹️ (same)
- pansexual and polyamorous but feels kinda shameful about it, since his extended family are kinda homophobic. Flirts with girls too much to compensate
Sam
- goth, mostly inspired by genuine 80's goth fashion, but takes some inspiration from mall goths.
- had a horse girl phase. Parents signed them up for it, intending for her to do dressage, but when she was twelve they decided that it made her even more rebellious and stopped her lessons. Still bitter about it
- loves mystery novels and shows, and enjoys figuring out whodunnit before even the characters. Yes, they draw out diagrams in her notebook to do so. But she prefers if the main characters are independent detectives, especially teenagerss becuase they can project onto the characters this way. Ships johnlock, but from a fairly niche Internet adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.
- jewish by ethnicity (on her mother's side), she doesn't really subscribe to any religion, but is proud of their heritage. Her fathers side of the family is Irish, but she doesn't have much connection to it.
- enjoyes horror SO MUCH, especially older horror or horror written by marginalized writers. Queer YA horror romance is her guilty pleasure
- nonbinary, currently uses she/they and presents feminine, but will soon realise they're transmasc and begin using all pronouns. She'll also begin presenting more genderqueer, presenting masc, fem and neutral depending on how they feel like. (She's also bisexual and questioning polyamourous). Is not out of the closet to anyone but her friends and online and is incredibly worried about how her parents will react
- they have grey eyes but occasionally wear light purple contacts. Her parents havent noticed yet
- is allergic to a lot of things

THE FENTON FAMILY
Jazz
- textbook auDHD, her special interest is psychology. She started getting interested in it as a coping mechanism, because she was terrified of not understanding people and wanted to know why some people treat her badly
- eldest daughter syndrome to the max. incredibly aware of how not-normal her home life is and thats also why she's interested in psychology. Practically raised Danny, despite being only 2 years older
- doesnt really think about her identity. Unlabeled cis girl, but a huge ally, might also be on the aroace spectrum
- loves colour. All of her school supplies are colourful, and she loves wearing sparkly colourful hairclips
- needs to feel control over things to feel safe. That's why she's so studious too
- really only has one friend. Drifts through groups of people at school, hangs out with them sometimes but they are all just acquaintances. Her only real friend is Spike, but she still feels kinda lonely
- when they were younger, she and Danny made a pulley system between their windows to pass messages and items to each other
- uses a flip phone and ipod (or mp3 player) to "curb her screen time and detox her brain from social media", but still carries around a normal phone in case of emergencies
- paints her nails pastel colours, her fav choices are pastel teal and pastel blue
Maddie and Jack
- Maddie has ADHD and Jack is autistic. Neurodivergent power couple (theyre both undiagnosed though. "What do you mean I'm autistic Jazzy-Pants, this is just my prime inventorness!!" etc.)
- They're the sort of parents that you love, but know won't thrive with. They definitely love their children, but tend to be kinda neglectful without even realizing it. They would never want their children hurt, and when they're not neglectful (which is rare) they're total helicopter parents. This whole deal has gotten even more intense after the ghosts came to Amity.
- the only reason they shoot at ghosts is because they genuinely believe only their own theories, despite all the proof against them. They're both stubborn as mules and pioneers in their field, so they refuse to change their beliefs. They believe ghosts are only imprints, stricly scientifical, since they dont believe in magic and such.
- but… that doesn’t mean that they aren’t cruel to the ghosts they hunt. After all, it can’t understand or even feel things, why would they treat it as anything other than a thing?
- Maddie's maiden name is Walker (i wonder what that hints at....)
THE REST OF THE CAST
- every human in Amity is a bit liminal. Liminality is a term for ectocontamination that isn't harming the body it's contaminating. It's a spectrum, ranging from slightly contaminated to almost ghost (or rather... almost halfa). Most people are only slightly contaminated
- the reason the ghost portal didn't work in university is because artificial portals require human sacrifice*, and since Vlad didnt die on the spot, it didn't work
(*any sort of life sacrifice, really, but it depends on the size of the portal. The one in their basement is the size needing human sacrifice, while a larger one would probably take something, well, larger)
- *points at college trio* polyamory wouldve saved them
- Tucker's parents are amazing, and Danny used to go to their house a lot before the accident, he still does just... he makes sure they don't see him too much. Angela Foley a nurse and incredibly smart. If Danny didn't start avoiding her, she'd be onto his secret lightning fast. Maurice Foley has a job in business, so he's very busy, but always makes sure to spend time with his family. He's very observant, so he'd also notice Danny's weird behaviour, but probably wouldn't guess it's ghost trouble.
GHOSTS + GHOST ZONE
- ectoplasm is a term for multiple things: the plasma that ghosts are made of and produce, shed emotions and "spirit energy", kinda like EMF
- ghost feed on emotions, but not every ghost drains them. Some make them stronger, for example. The emotions ghosts feed on vary, it's usually all emotions, but they get the most sustenance from the emotions that correspond with their personality and Obsession the most
- Obsessions aren't the only things that drive ghosts, they don't drive them physically at least. They do, however, give ghosts the motivation to continue existing. They also make ghosts happier, and since ectoplasm = condensed emotion, it makes the ghost stronger. So it kinda is physical, but not really.
- ghosts can change their appearance as they wish, change clothes and other features etc. They also have access to a sort of hammerspace (that isn't infinite though)
- Other than blood blossoms, there are many other herbs that affect ghosts. Ghost weed, for example. Also, a lot of folk ghost repellents do in fact work, through belief and conviction (as with many ghost related things)
- summonings work, but you can only summon one being at a time. It's also really hard to find a legit summoning spell. It doesn't require sacrifice of any kind, but you do need witchcraft knowledge. You cannot open portals to the GZ without life sacrifice. Jack and Maddie tried to summon a ghost using the more folky magic way but they didnt use the correct spell and so dismissed any and all "non-scientific" explanations
- The ghost zone is... the afterlife, (shocker, I know) and also has these specific areas. This manifests as some of these areas looking like the afterlives from different religions. People will go where their religion/opinion in life says they will. Reincarnation is included in this, you could even reincarnate into another universe, since the Infinite Realms are just that - Infinite Realms. The people who didn't know what they believed in or were atheists appear in the realms as is, usually in their own lair, as long as their death had a bunch of emotions, regrets or unfinished business attached.
- ghost that lived human lives and died are nicknamed "daisy ghosts" after the euphemism "pushing up daisies". (I got this from a fic and i think it's awesome, sadly i don't remember the name anymore☹️)
- ghost cores have a thick crystalline shell and a whispy/goopy center, kinda like candy. They also hum, allowing ghosts to communicate without opening their mouth, or even sound!
- Blob ghosts also have cores, and their cores are practically unbreakable, so other ghosts can replenish their ectoplasm by chewing on the blob and spitting out the core. The blob will then regenerate! It's a symbiotic relationship
- ghost speak sounds like the "vibes" of the ghost to human ears. So for example, Ember's ghost speak sounds like static from an amp and distant flames. Ghost speak is understood by every ghost and sounds like the listeners native language. If the listener understands multiple languages, they can switch which languages they hear.
- The Lunch Lady is actually Tucker's grandma, and she's incredibly nice when not antagonized. (The reason she was aggressive at first is because after the portal opened, fueled by Danny's death, every ghost who was not in their lair/on an island at the time got kinda... volatile due to the emotions of the whole incident)
CONCLUSION
i'll be adding onto this every time i remember + think of new headcanons!

Okay rest of post under the cut bc it has some triggering topics (sh) and might come across as vent-ish (it really is a rage filled tirade) but this is why ANTI ENDOS AND SYSMEDS ARE HARMFUL!!! BC OF COURSE THEY FUCKING ARE!!!
Okay so:
We started having suspicions of us being a system around April 2023. At that point, most of our interactions with systems were via systok, and sys-inclusive fandom servers. Now, before that time we experienced things that we now, looking back, know were definitely because of our plurality. But we only started finally NOTICING those behaviors around April. The thought that it could be plurality floated around in our head for a bit, but we stopped thinking about it until July. That's when the current host started hearing bits of conversations in headspace, and even replied sometimes. 2023 was a rough year for us (as all years from 2019 - 2023 were) but during that time, a long period of traumatic experiences from 2022 were still fresh in our minds. That's why, when the aforementioned host went on a DID research rabbit hole, due to said rough patch, when they stumbled upon tons of sysmeds saying that the experiences required to become a system had to be SO traumatic, you couldn't even function after them, and other such misinformation, the host decided that, no, we definitely aren't a system, because we're not FUCKING CATATONIC OR SOMETHING after our trauma (they forgot about the 2 week period after getting out of said traumatic experiences that we spent in bed, barely moving and talking).
So the host then had a mental breakdown, because they decided if we're not a system then we're "delusional and going insane" (direct-ish quote, we were stupid about mental health back then). I'm not going into details, bc the breakdown was NOT FUN!! We still have the scars, healed as they are.
Anyway this caused us to have really bad mental health the entire rest of 2023 and and not realize we actually ARE a system until early January 2024. (Also hey, syscovery anniversary!! Can't believe it's already been a year!! :D)
Yeah so next time I hear someone say that sysmeds and anti endos aren't harmful I'm gonna spit on that persons face (virtually) (or maybe irl if i meet someone like that irl) (I'm only slightly exaggerating) (only slightly)
