Some fun extra quickly written lore behind Card Night.
Blitzø considered himself to be pretty good at playing cards. He used to play a bit in college, never losing a game of strip poker or any sort of drinking game that relied on cards. Sure, he’d maybe loose once or twice in a row, but never took it personally, eventually you’d get lucky. But that was before he played against Stolas.
The first time he played and lost against him, he didn’t think much of it. Second time, whatever. Third time, luck of the draw. Fourth time was when Stolas beat him in under 5 minutes of starting the game. Blitzø claimed he had cheated, and Stolas got offended that he thought he would go to such measures to beat someone who he claimed was ‘mediocre at best.’ And Blitzø being petty, called Moxxie over and made him look over both of their shoulders to watch if they would cheat. Stolas was more than happy to prove he was innocent, especially since it was almost entertaining to see Blitzø get reiled up over something as silly as a card game.
In the end, he, in fact, did not cheat. They sent Moxxie home after three straight hours of card games.
Before they went in their separate bedrooms, Stolas stopped the shorter man, leaning down to get eye level with him, with that same competitive smile he grew to have earlier. “Just so you are aware.. it would have done you better if you had cheated, because it would’ve actually given you a chance at besting me~”
Now Stolas usually wasn’t that egotistical about his skills, especially not over something like this. But the way this man became so determined to beat him in just one card game, it made it all the more enticing to poke the bear.
And this exact moment is why Blitzø takes each loss personally against Stolas. They had to limit how many games they play each night, because they only get more and more competitive the longer they play. Blitzø getting progressively more irritated, shouting and threatening Stolas not to play a card he knows he is about to play, while Stolas continuously taunts him, each one getting progressively less subtle than the last.
Yes, they have gotten violent.
Yes, they are each other’s favorite person to play cards with.
And yes, Octavia doesn’t know that how her dads play cards isn’t normal.
