A/N: I love Doc but I don’t normally watch his perspective so this is a bit shorter than the others, I’m really sorry.
• Doc never really considered himself the fathering type. Sure, he was on the kinder side of villainy, but still a villain nonetheless. Sure, he could be considered the “father” of his creations, but he didn’t see himself that way.
• You had a different opinion of him, though. You were simply wandering the unfamiliar terrain when you came across his area, the icy region piquing your curiosity.
• He found you after heading back from planting the creakings in Scar’s base. He tried to scare you off, telling you of his heinous deeds, but you just asked for him to tell you more. The Doc, in all of his infinite wisdom, had not expected this.
• Neither of you are really sure when he has switched from being awkward to fatherly, but it had been a natural progression. He’d take you along on his schemes, teaching you the proper way to do evil.
• He’d explain all of his redstone contraptions to you. Any questions you had would be answered with the utmost patience. It was hard to believe this was the same man who taught you the most efficient way to kill someone.
• You were never scared by any of his antics, regardless of how villainous they may be. Any time you’d try to replicate something he did you’d be met with instant praise on your efforts. Of course he’d give you constructive criticism and critique as well, even if you didn’t ask for it.
• He’d probably show you the hive mind. It would absolutely fascinate you, how all of the individual parts would come together to create something so intricate and grand. He’d tell you that you could be a part of it someday. You’d cling onto those words like a badge of honor.
• You’d spend a lot of time scheming in the ice mountain with your dad. Maybe you were drawing up plans for the next contraption, or coming up with ways to torture Scar, it was always the two of you, though. It would be near impossible to separate you guys.
• You’d call him Elsa as a joke. Sometimes Snow Queen if you’re feeling a bit nicer. He threatens to unleash his evil plans on your base in retaliation, but you both know he could never bring himself to do that. Not to you anyways.
• Scar would come to view your presence as an omen. A warning that Doc was somewhere nearby. He would always be extra jittery around you, nervous to give the creeper another reason to seek vengeance against him by upsetting you. You definitely take advantage of this royal treatment.
• You would definitely be obsessed with Decked out three. Your father would say volunteering to help wasn’t a good way to spread evil, though there were never any real objections.
• Joel would make comments about how a kid should be around colors and rainbows, you’d disagree for a while. Eventually, though, you manage to find your way into his secret laboratory and change your tune. Doc starts to respect his neighbor a bit more after that.
• You would totally stick magnets to his prosthetic arm and other cybernetic body parts. If anyone else tries to take them off they quickly learn what it means to have your life flash before your eyes.
• You’d expect the metallic parts of his body to feel cold, but they’re not. They’re warm and inviting, at least to you they are. He has no issue wrapping you in hugs and holding you if you’re having a bad day. He’s surprisingly good at hugs for an evil ice wizard.
• Your favorite farm of his would be the creeper farm with the teleporting cat. You found the creativity behind it absolutely fascinating, and when the farm wasn’t being used Doc would go with you to feed the kitty and give it lots of pets. It was your evil little kitty.
• You definitely insist on getting “evil” guard animals around both of your bases. Doc tries to object at first but eventually gives in. He trained you to manipulate so well even he can’t seem to resist your charms.
• He lets you take home another cat after you point out that considering how devoted he is to the ice theming, it’s almost ironic he tried to prank scar with fire.
• Getting you new pets becomes your reward for almost anything. You practically have a zoo once you’re done assisting him in wrangling all of the hostile mobs. He starts to regret teaching you the art of extortion.
• When you see the machine in its full power you don’t feel scared. You feel proud of what you helped create. Seeing your reaction Doc doesn’t feel scared of what he turned you into, but proud of who you’ve grown to be.
• Poor Ren will probably head your giggles in his nightmares for god knows how long. It’s likely all he heard as he faced the wraith of the goat as the test subject.
• Your father may be evil, but he was a father first and foremost. He’s not sure how it happened, but it did, and he wouldn’t change a thing.
hihi something cutesy and cliché with grian please 🤗🤗
love ur writing!!
Try Again Tomorrow (Grian x reader)
An early morning leaves you with some reflecting to do about who you were before Grian and who you are now.
A/N: I. LOVE. HIM. Anon, I'm so sorry I know you said cliche and fluff but I couldn't help myself and sprinkled some angst in there, nothing we can't fix by the end though. Hope you enjoy and thank you so much for your kindness! It's spurred me on more than you can know. (1020 words)

This morning was not unlike many others. It was soft and windy. The curtains swam in the breeze of an already scorching sun, light shifting under the fabric’s billowing. The rays dash over the features of your beloved, he glows amidst the messy room. You’ve seen this a thousand times and with each fresh memory, it only gets better.
Grian’s nose scrunches as he stirs awake, body heavy with sleep. His arm is still draped over your waist, your hand traces the base of his wings, languid motions making his eyes flutter shut for a moment too long. You swear he’s gone back to sleep until his own hands pull you closer. His head of sandy hair rests on your shoulder as he curls into your embrace. His wings unfurl, blocking out the sun and sight of the clothes from last night, pants disregarded atop a chair, shoes still at the foot of the bed.
Booze and dancing, a party where you know everyone. Your feet have never ached more and aching has never felt this good. Every song revealed a part of your soul, fragments shining under a disco ball with every move and step. You are surrounded by friends, but your eyes land back on him. Grian stands at the edge of the floor with two drinks in hand. He looks eager to join but, despite his craned neck, can’t seem to find a counter to place the cups down. Catching your glance, he smiles, handing Joel and Lizzie their drinks, and then springing towards you. He weaves through the thinning crowd until he can reach your hand. He pulls you closer, taking only a step back, and holds your jaw with his other hand. You hold on to the lapels of his dress shirt, straightening his loose tie. His thrilled smile eases into a fond grin and he presses a kiss to your lips.
Now, he’s much less energetic. To think if it weren’t for him, you might’ve already been up and working. The days before him were mundane as well, but different. You might’ve not gone to that party, stayed in and slept late, staring at a ceiling and counting the blemishes. You trace the uneven skin on Grian’s shoulder, counting the occasional raised patches.
“Love, you need to get some summer clothes.” You say, and he hums, half listening, mostly basking in the attention. “Your sweater’s making you break out again.”
“We can sort that out later.”
Later. Now, the world is your bedroom. How much work could you have gotten done before this? How many pangs of loneliness would you have fought to forget in the hours now spent with him? Your hands, nicked and leathery, tuck a strand of hair behind his ear and rest at the nape of his neck, scratching gently.
You catch a glimpse of yourself in the window, your image in a blue expanse of cloudless sky. Your arms are thicker than they were, flaccid. Every evening you both stop what you are doing, put away the tools and materials, they’ll be there tomorrow. On even days Grian cooks dinner, he’s collected quite the recipe book and what used to be labor is now rest. With a skillet in hand, he dances around your kitchen. He pretends to drop the pan only to fake you out. He’s only actually dropped it a single time.
Before, only with the moon high into the aether would you have stopped to eat, hurrying food into a starved mouth like shoveling coal into a furnace, mechanic and primal. In your cold kitchen, you stared at the ceramic floor. Tomorrow would be the same, again and again. You were much more productive back then.
“Do you have any plans?” Grian asks. The question is innocuous, but the gears are turning in his brain. He knows something’s pulling you down.
“Not really,” you murmur. Longing strikes a bell in your chest. What could you have been? Successful, productive, probably painfully alone. Would that have been better than this? The first answer that comes to mind is shameful. You were a beautiful animal, a prize pony who never got the medal. How could you even hope to compete now if you were not worthy before?
Grian shifts from beside you. Thoughts run through your mind until he positions his thighs between your legs, straddling you with his weight comfortably resting on your pelvis. His eyes crinkle, but it’s bittersweet. He can’t guess what havoc is parading inside your head, but he knows that far-away gaze. He shifts forward and your fingers hold his waist. He kisses the skin under your lashes, dark hues blending back into the surroundings with each day that passes. You were chasing something, an indescribable mass that would make you good.
He kisses your jaw. His lips are so very dry, but so purposeful. He knows every inch of you, each crevice of your hollow bones, and he holds them so very dearly. You aren’t good, definitely not the best person you could be. But here he is. He sees you and he holds you.
“You have an incredible mind, a vast, vast soul.” He whispers as he finally kisses your lips. Your lungs fill with air, eyes closing and loosening the stranglehold on your heart.
There are a thousand different ways your life could have gone, but only now do you feel glad to be here. This body has suffered for so long, searching for an excuse to heal itself back from the brink. But Grian needs no reason to love you. He takes your cheeks into his hands, a mirror of the night before, and does not let go.
You could have accomplished so much in the time you took to realize this, but how much better would it be to do those things with him by your side? Savoring the days as they go, waking up late with only the lasting weight of your partner atop you. Arms and legs aching after dancing and not tirelessly working, giving up on grasping to be someone you never needed to be.
AJSJSHHUEEU YOU WRITE THE BEST ETHO FICS IVE READ!!! if it ain’t to much trouble, can I ask for etho trying to fluster the reader? take care of ya self, love your work!
What a Flirt!
Etho x Reader
Notes: Sorry this took so long! And thank you for the compliment! I’m not too confident in most of my characterizations, but it’s good to hear you enjoy my work. :)
Word count: 792 words
Etho is an energetic man. He’s always on the move, working on some “top-secret” project, or having fun with his closest friends. The energy had always endeared you, and you and Etho had become good friends after a while. Etho is energetic as a fact of life, and recently, on top of that, Etho has become a flirt.
•
On Monday, Etho had cornered you just outside of your base, leaning against a fence post and giving you a smile.
“Have I ever told you that you have a beautiful face?,” Etho says, smiling brightly. You level him with a blank stare, and his smile wavers. “Why are you looking at me like that? I mean it!”
“Sure, Etho,” You sigh, smiling at his attempt. In recent days, Etho had seemingly made it his mission to fluster you, whether out of affection or entertainment, you can’t tell. “Come here, you’ve got a loose strap on your harness.”
Etho steps towards you, and all but halts his breathing. Your hands adjust the straps of the harness gently, fixing his elytra more tightly to his back. Looking up at his face, Etho avoids eye contact, going as far as to turn his head from you. Even still, you spot the light dusting of pink that adorns his cheeks.
“Hm. Seems like you’re losing at your own game, huh, Etho?” You tease, bringing a hand ip to poke gently at his face. He swats your hand away, his blush intensifying.
“I’m not losing at anything, I’ll have you know,” He pouts, once again swatting at your hand. “I’m not even started yet. Just you wait.” He says, puffing out his chest, similar to a bird.
“Okay, birdie, I’ll wait to see what you have in store.” You laugh, shooting his embarrassed face a glance as he realizes what you had called him.
“Hey! I am not a bird!” He says indignantly, and you laugh once again as you walk away from Etho, and as he watches you go.
•
On Tuesday, as you were brewing potions, arms deep in a cauldron with a heavy sheen of sweat over your face from the heat, Etho once again came to find you.
“You look stunning today, sweetheart,” He teases, leaning over the windowsill as he pokes his head inside of the window. “I love someone with such creative passions.” You smile, rolling your eyes.
“Etho, you should move. This potion splashes, and it causes boils on the face. It’s a prank potion, yes, but it’s still not pleasant, especially before dilution.” You tell him, and he gapes at you before standing straight up.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner! I was over that for five whole minutes!” Etho whines, placing a hand on his forehead.
•
Wednesday comes soon as well, and Etho makes haste in finding you in your garden. He sits next to you casually, laying out and facing the sun. He pulls down his mask, bathing his face in sunlight, and you note in the back of your mind that you rarely ever see him in the mask when it’s just you two.
“Fine day today, hm?” You say gently, uprooting a weed and tossing it into a wicker basket. Etho hums, eyes still closed and a peaceful smile painting his face. Smiling, you return to your weeding, systematically ripping weeds out of the ground and discarding them for future use. Etho stirs slightly, and when you look over, his eyes are locked onto you.
“Hello there. Finally awake?” You say, absentmindedly organizing your weeds into separate bundles. He doesn’t answer, but his hand finds yours relatively quickly.
“ Quiet day, huh? I get it. Would you like to join me for some tea?” You ask gently, Rubbing a thumb over the back of his hand and giving him time to reply.
“Yeah. Tea sounds nice.” He sighs, letting go of your hand to stand. He then offers his hand to you, and pulls you up. The two of you walk the few yards to your base together, hands linked at your sides. You can feel Etho’s gaze on your face, firmly locked onto you.
“You know,” Etho begins, his thumb caressing the back of your hand, “I can’t imagine life without you by my side. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed someone’s company like I’ve enjoyed yours.”
You pause mid-step, face flushed, and cover your face with your hands. Etho looks at you, confused at first, then smug.
“I did it! I told you I would-“ Etho quiets immediately as you press your lips to his, muffling whatever “i-told-you-so” he had coming.
“Yeah, yeah. You told me you would.” You smile gently, rolling your eyes as you kiss him again. “You win, Etho.”
Warnings - It's pretty short. Sorry guys! I'm easing back into writing.
Summary - Xisuma planned something special for your Halloween
Notes - My first day of any October challenge for 2025! I won't be writing for days 1 - 3 so sorry about that. Thank you @aureli-us for the list!
Xisuma loves Halloween. he's practically in costume always anyway. So of course he wanted to do something special for you. Pumpkin carving. It seemed incredibly fun, and it's something the Hermits did every year. But he'd been working on something to make it special. When He invited you over for a Halloween themed date… you didn't expect this.
A pumpkin, nearly the same hight as your starter base was just in his modified melon and pumpkin farm. The thing was giant. You could fit into it if you wanted.
"What- Why do you have a pumpkin this big?"
"So we can carve it!"
"Did you actually think any of this over X?"
"Of course I did. I have latters, and plenty of candles to light it up."
Hey silly guy^^ I was wondering if youd be willing to write for moth!mumbo x reader where reader needs their sleep but their moth friend insists on them staying up which results in cuddles and reader falling asleep[if that makes sense lolzies] over all just fluff of the silly mustache man:]
-🪶[Avian anon]
Hello fellow silly person! Thank you for requesting! :]
(It's been so long, but I really enjoyed writing this anyway, even if the original anon may never get a look at it 💔)
Notes: I swear I love anon's names
I saw an incredible fanart of moth mumbo but only got down to writing for it now
Also, this wip started up as “you're in modern world minecraft, so you're in college and he's just a random redstone moth man” but now, looking at it one year later I just thought “nah, it's just 300 words and a boring take, I'm redoing” so I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
And by you I mean maybe the 3 hermitcraft fans (at best) who might come across this in the wild.
TWs: None! Moth Mumbo if you mind, and mentions of wounds and cave mobs.
Moth! Mumbo Jumbo x Reader
Moths don't sleep at night, unless it's an unusually long nap.
Being a hermit was usually very fun.
Especially as someone who just loved building, you just couldn’t see yourself doing anything better, or being in any other place other than where you were. It was a match, meant to be.
Sure, it was really tiring at times, and sometimes you could find yourself losing a fairly large amount of health just from accidentally falling from high places and taking damage, such as the top of a giant tree house you decided to build on a random day just to avoid having to go down to the mines in search of materials for any other builds.
However, avoiding needed tasks eventually came back to pull your leg off of a cliff.
There goes you now, descending to the pitch black mines infested with monsters, aware you’d come back to the surface with a few too many new wounds, scratches, and possibly phobias.
Really, the later you went down those hellholes was still much too soon to you.
Only after what seemed like years of taking lungfulls after lungfulls of breaths of moldy, stale — too cold or too hot — air, and feeling the soles of your feet aching with the amount of steps you took on hard rock, you finally came back to where you really felt at home at.
Your body almost screamed with the need to lay down — and stay there — for ages as soon as the grass and soft soil touched the bottom of your boots, molding around the hard netherite and staining it lightly. You’d usually take off your shoes in order to get a better feel of it, but you had the lingering feeling you wouldn’t get up again for a while should you sit down to take them off.
With slow breaths of the night air, you pulled yourself to your base, the cold yet fresh breeze of the greeting you on the way there, kissing the open scratches and various wounds which littered your skin from the mobs all around the caves you visited, lava, and some quite unfortunate foot placement in too dark holes.
The wind tousled your hair, you almost felt like it was pushing you inside, helping you close the door, yet placing a last cooling kiss over your warm face before the current was cut off.
You put away your armor pieces as soon as you got to your bedroom, the old armor stand barely handling the weight of it all. Maybe it was time to make a new one.
Ignoring that for the night, you chose rather to drink the nearest regeneration potions.
Almost as soon as you let out a heavy sigh, finally throwing yourself on your bed for the night, the sound of someone breaking through your roof made you open your eyes.
Or rather, someone utilizing the same opening you had forgotten to patch up the last time it was used.
You guessed who had come in based only on the flapping noise his wings made, which were only slightly more annoying than Grian’s, as Mumbo had the tendency to flail a lot more than the avian.
“Mumbo… Go away.” You warned before turning to lay face first into the various comforters and blankets piked onto your so called "bed".
It wasn't exactly the rectangular, firm wooden lined kind. You took certain artistic liberties making it, and decided no hard items were allowed, now having a less than firm bed, but one you almost drowned in once you laid down.
“Now, why are you being so rude? I just got here!” The man's funny accent made you smile despite being tired and slightly annoyed by the interruption to your rest — which had barely started — because of it's breathless tone, which told you just how much he had struggled to time his landing right.
“And you had quite the difficulty to do so, it seems.”
“I think I speak for all the winged-folks in the server when I say all bases should have proper landing spots.” You recognized his footsteps travelling across your room towards your chests, especially when he started going through them.
“Hardly aesthetically pleasing. Can't you walk through the front doors like us perpetually earthbound people?” You mocked him, blinking away the tired ache in your eyes as you sat up despite your body's protests. “What are you even looking for?”
The mustache man was going through one of the random junk chests, so at least he really wasn't looking to steal anything.
“Most hermits are sleeping.”
“Shouldn't you be doing the same?”
“I don't sleep– Well I did sleep. Earlier today. A whole 7 hours may I add. But moths don't sleep at night” He seemed offended by the idea of you wanting him to sleep, which was showcased by the way he pulled on his suit aggressively — and unnecessarily — to straighten it.
It was a little messy from flying, but you couldn't have possibly made your brain think over two thoughts per second when you were this tired.
And besides the suit thought — which counted as one of the two — you wanted to know why he was there.
“And I'm tired and about to sleep. Why don't you go stare at lights around the server or something?” You yawned with the intent of drawing finality to the conversation, barely seconds away from straight up kicking him out, yet, of course, Mumbo was persistent as ever.
“Well, but I don't wanna spend so many hours doing nothing! That's very unproductive.” Seemed like he was unusually out of ideas to do, and that left him almost desperate, the poor guy.
“Allergic to boredom, are you?”
“Well yes, you are expected to entertain me.”
Once you didn't react to his tease — or maybe it was a genuine comment, you wouldn't put it past him to fully take belief in that — he took it upon himself to get your attention, dropping down on your bed, to disturb you even if it didn't bounce under his weight like the usual bed, and like he was probably expecting.
You could sense the disappointment radiating off of him, and yet, he wasn't leaving.
“Oh my god, what?” You drawled, finally looking up, pulling your blankets away from him, just to sigh and drop them back in resignation when you saw it was already fur of the white “fur” of his wings. He sure was a fluffy guy for someone so annoying at times.
“You could do some renovations here, maybe more automatic systems.” He started rambling, notedly avoiding mentioning the hole in your roof which really was the only thing needing fixing. Why would he, it was his private way in it seemed.
“Mumbo. I want to sleep, and your voice isn't exactly the lulling type.”
“Oh…” Of course he made some pathetic sad noise. It was bad enough to guilt trip you into feeling bad.
But still not bad enough to get up.
Instead, you sighed deeply once more before pulling his arm, which, having not expected it, made him fold like paper.
With almost trained ease, you pulled and pushed him into a more “human pillow” position, cuddling, yet carefully enough not to let your nose near his wings, not willing to get any hair in your respiratory system.
“Are you really reaally gonna sleep?”
Nothing but silence dignified his question. Yet just like a cat, he didn't really fight, despite complaining, and eventually molded his body around yours into coziness. Your bed was basically a nest of comfort after all, it was a waste not to enjoy it, even if he wasn't gonna sleep. And he definitely wasn't.
However. You managed to sleep, after all.
And the complainer accompanying you, somehow, took a nap even bigger than yours by the end of the night, which proved to you he was lying when he said to have slept earlier. Or at least, that he'd slept less than what he'd told you. Not a surprise there.
I was wondering if you are willing to write a Tango x Etho x gn!reader (or just Tango x gn!reader if you don't want to write poly atm)?
Pairing: Tango x GN! Professor! Reader x Etho (kinda Pearl & Etho [Platonic] too ngl)
Includes: (small i think, but be aware they are there) SPOILERS FOR THE LATEST CHAPTER (16) OF DOUBLE-HEARTED, mentions of a secret relationship but also not really? (they haven’t told anyone, but its not technically a secret), speculated cheating (doesn’t happen), three uses of Y/N
Words: 2.0k
A/N: I always want to write poly 😈 I wanted to write something for DDVAU anyway to celebrate the new Double-Hearted chapter that came out ((if you haven’t [you probably have, but on the off-chance that you haven’t] go check it out on Webtoon, or here on Tumblr! It’s a great comic about the DDVAU {Desert-Duo Vigilante AU} written by @//kitsuneisi and @//xmaruu11))
((p.s. if you don't like it/it's not what you had in mind, lmk and I'll write a new one!))
When Etho offered to set Pearl up with an interview with his boyfriend, this was not what she had in mind.
She did not expect to be walking into the university he worked at, glancing around awkwardly as she tried to find her way around. As much as she felt like she was back in college herself, she couldn’t find it in her to care very much. Insider information with someone who was in the school during the attack?! It couldn’t be much better for a reporter like her(who was also very interested in discovering the various mysteries Hot Guy has to hide from the general public).
Pearl brushed her hair back as she glanced at the paper in her hand, telling her exactly where she was meant to meet Tango. She looked at the building in front of her, confirming that it was the correct building and grinned excitedly, hurrying into the room. She quickly found the office she was looking for and peered into the window. Her brows furrowed when she saw two people talking softly in the room.
Tango, who was obvious because of his fiery hair, sat in his office chair, facing his desk. On his desk sat another professor. They were talking, only just loud enough for her to hear their words.
“C’mon, Etho asked me to do the interview for her.” Tango was saying. He reached over and grabbed the other professor’s hand. “I’m fine.”
The other sighed, “Tango, I don’t want you to relive that moment so soon after it happened. It had to have been traumatic!”
“I’m fine.” He insisted with a grin. “I promise, if I wasn’t ready to talk about it, I wouldn’t have the interview. I don’t mind, really. It wasn’t that bad, really.”
The professor did not seem impressed. They leaned their head back on their shoulders, “You were dragged into a school that was taken over by some kind of spore creature and were attacked, I think-”
“Well, I wasn’t really attacked per se-” He was quickly silenced by a glare. He chuckled awkwardly, pulling their hands towards him for a moment, “Sweetheart,” Pearl’s eyes widened as she heard the pet name. Her brows furrowed. Sweetheart? Isn’t Tango, Etho’s boyfriend? Who is this other person? “It’s fine. I promise. If I wasn’t up for it, I wouldn’t do it. Come on, you have class soon and Pearl should be here soon. I’ll be fine.”
Pearl watched closely as they huffed and nodded. “Fine. Tell me if something happens, promise?” They leaned in, pressing a kiss against his forehead. Pearl gasped, moving away from the window in shock. Her eyes were wide. After a few seconds, she could hear footsteps coming closer to the door. She took a quick deep breath and walked down the corridor for a moment before turning around right as the door opened. She plastered a smile on her face (after all, reporters have to be professional at their first official interview) and walked towards the door again.
“I’ll see you after school, who’s place are we meeting at, again?” Tango asked as he leaned against the door.
The other professor hummed before shrugging, “I guess yours. If that works for you?” He nodded. His eyes glanced to the side and he grinned as he noticed Pearl. The professor’s eyes followed his and they smiled. “Oh, hi. You must be Pearl, yeah? I’m Y/N.”
She nodded, holding back her true emotions. So Tango is cheating on Etho?! That doesn’t sound like the Tango he talks about, but I guess even the ‘best’ people can be shallow. “Yeah, that’s me.” Her voice was professional, offering a miniscule smile.
Tango nodded, “Perfect, you’re right on time. I’m Tango.” He nodded towards his office. “We have about an hour and a half until my next class, so we have plenty of time.” She gave him a smile and a nod, no longer as excited about this interview (though… she was still excited, admittedly).
After Pearl and Tango finished their interview, she was thankful for the insider information she now had. In fact, she almost forgot about the situation before the interview until she got a text from Etho as she was leaving the school.
Etho
how was the interview?
Pearl
uhhh it was good
I do have some bad news for you tho
Etho
yeah?
what’s up?
Pearl
I’d rather tell you in person, are you free today???
Etho
uh sure yeah, when do you wanna meet up
Pearl quickly gave him a place to meet and a time. She met him there with time to spare. She looked over her notes from the interview and the recorded copy she had. Her mind was fighting over being a good reporter and remaining completely unopinionated, and being a good friend and being very upset that her friend was cheated on. She sighed, covering her face with her hands. It’s not like the cheating would be included in the interview, she reasoned. But, would it be okay to publish your best friend’s cheating boyfriend’s interview? What are the morals of this type of situation? Are there any?
A hand came in contact with her shoulder and she jumped, eyes darting to the side as her hands fell from her face. Her eyes narrowed, “Oh, haha.” She deadpanned as Etho laughed softly. He sat across from her and raised an eyebrow.
“You seemed distracted for someone who really wanted to tell me something.” He mused.
She hesitated, “Well, I was going over a kind-of moral dilemma.”
His head tilted slightly as he peered at her over the edge of his mask, “What morals? You went in for an interview and you came out with questions about morals?” He chuckled, “What did that man say to you?”
“He’s cheating on you?”
Etho paused, brows furrowing, “What?”
Pearl let out a deep breath that she didn’t realize she was holding. The words started flooding out, “I walked into the office, expecting him to be alone. But I stopped outside the window of his door and looked in and I saw this person sitting on his desk. You know how nosy I am, so I was listening! He called them ‘sweetheart’?? And they kissed his forehead! They were clearly close and clearly dating or something! Then- then! They decided on staying over at Tango’s house. Tonight!”
Etho was quiet for a moment, staring at her before he laughed. It was a louder laugh than she usually heard from him. “Why are you laughing? Are you crazy? He’s seeing someone else!”
“Come with me.” Is all he replied. He stood up, gesturing for her to follow him. Confused beyond belief (and questioning his own mental status), she followed him.
“Where are we going? Are you not going to say anything?”
“You’ll see. Be patient, Pearl.” He mused. Pearl sighed, realizing she wasn’t getting anything out of him anytime soon. The walk wasn’t very long. They arrived at an apartment complex. He pulled out his phone, sending a quick text. As he did, he nodded to the call box. “Press Apartment 304.” Pearl hesitated. She knew this was not Etho’s apartment. In fact, she didn’t think she knew anyone in this part of the city at all. When he noticed she didn’t move, he chuckled again, reaching over and hitting the button. Within a few moments, the buzzer made a different noise and the door unlocked. “C’mon.”
“Etho, where are we going?”
He glanced back at her as they climbed the stairs, “You haven’t put it together? And I thought you were a reporter.” He tsked. “We’re going to Tango’s place.”
Her eyes widened, “We’re confronting them?!”
“You could say that.”
Her heart beat with anxiety as the two climbed the final set of stairs. They approached the door with the number 304 on it. She kept glancing over at Etho. He didn’t seem nervous at all. She paused. He glanced back.
“Problem?”
“Yeah, what are you planning? What are you up to?” She accused, pointing at him. “You’re being awfully calm about this whole situation.”
He laughed, leaning over and knocking on the door. She blinked as the door opened, revealing Tango. “Hey, babe.” He said, leaning over with a grin, his eyes darted to the right and he laughed, “Hey, Pearl. Guess we got some explaining to do, yeah?”
Her brows furrowed, glancing between the two. She went to speak when a voice interrupted. “Etho! You’re here! Finally.” Her eyes blinked in confusion as the professor from the school came over, leaning over and wrapping Etho in a hug. He laughed as he hugged them awkwardly. “We’ve been waiting for hourssss.”
“It’s been twenty minutes.” He said, rolling his eyes and laughing. He gently pulled them back and gestured to the right where Pearl stood. “Sweetheart, this is Pearl. You remember her from earlier, right?”
They pulled back from Etho and glanced over, grinning, “Yeah! Of course! You look so pretty by the way, I totally forgot to mention it because I was running late.”
Pearl couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening. Her eyes darted from Tango to Y/N to Etho. “Okay, what is happening right now?”
Etho chuckled as his partner glanced at him, “I dunno, what is happening, Etho?” They questioned with a small, confused smile.
“Well, to answer both of your questions at the same time. I was invited to dinner with Pearl here because she had something important to tell me.” He nodded, almost gravely before laughing again. “She told me our dear Tango here was cheating on me.”
Tango fully burst out laughing, using the side of the door to support his weight as he practically heaved laughter. Their partner looked taken aback for a moment before they gasped, “Oh! Because of this morning! Oh, I’m so sorry!” They laughed. “No, no, no. We’re all dating. We’re in a poly relationship!” They clarified.
Pearl’s face relaxed slightly as she let out a breath, “Ohhh.” She murmured. “That’s why he wasn’t freaking out when I told him.”
“I thought you knew.” Etho said with a shrug. “Then you came telling me that and I was just so shocked. I mean, you’ve walked up on me and them on a date before.”
Pearl thought about before shaking her head, “I don’t think so, only you and Tango.”
His brows furrowed, “I’m pretty sure- Oh, right! They were in the changing room when you ran into us.” He explained with another chuckle. Pearl glanced over as said partner wrapped an arm around Tango’s waist. His grin seemed to brighten as he glanced over at them before refocusing. “I really did think you knew, though.”
“You never talk about them? Only ever Tango!”
“I rarely talk about Tango to begin with, Pearl. We’ve been dating for a year and a half and you learned I was dating him, what, a few months ago?” He scoffed, “I just don’t like talking all that much about my private life.”
Pearl nodded slowly, her brain piecing together the missing parts of the puzzle. “So, you three are all in a relationship together?” The trio nodded in unison.
“I would have said something when we met if I had known you didn’t know.” Y/N said, offering an awkward smile. “I would hate for you to think Tango would even be capable of thinking of cheating. Especially since you were interviewing him for something so serious.”
Tango groaned playfully, “Sweetheart, I’m tellin’ you! It was fine! Not a big deal.” They narrowed their eyes at him and he paused as they pulled out of his grip.
“I need to check the food, make sure it’s not overcooking!” They announced as they walked away. Tango had no hesitation to follow, talking about how it ‘wasn’t a big deal’ as they walked.
Etho glanced over at Pearl, “So?”
She hummed slowly, “So what?”
“What do you think? Y’know about me being poly?”
Her eyes moved to meet his and she looked slightly annoyed, “You don’t think I would think anything different than what I already do, do you? Cause this isn’t a change at all. All it tells me is that you have more people who care about you.” While he didn’t make a noise, she could tell his shoulders relaxed slightly. “Etho, I care about you. This wouldn’t really change much of anything. Promise. I’ll see you tomorrow. Go spend time with your… partners?”
He chuckled softly, nodding, “Yeah, yeah, you’re right. I’ll see ya.”

As per usual, I've attempted gn reader but I am used to writing fem so if I messed it up let me know and I'll fix it
(UNEDITED)
You weren’t sure why you were pinged by Gem to meet at Etho’s base as soon as possible, but there you were, landing a few steps away from Gem in front of Etho’s base. She turned around, clearly relieved to see you.
“Etho’s sick.” That wasn’t good but you weren’t sure why that required your immediate arrival, Gem seemed to catch on to your unsaid question. “He’s refusing to believe he’s sick and won’t let anyone help him. Tango said he’s way too warm to just brush it off, and since Etho listens to you a little better than the rest of us I asked you to come.”
“I don’t know if he will on this, especially if he wants to get back to his redstone.” You followed Gem into Etho’s base and found him arguing with Tango and Pearl, both trying to get him to lay back down while Etho tried to get past them to work on whatever he felt was calling his name. Which left only one method that would maybe work.
“Etho?” He whipped around and smiled through his mask at you.
“Hey Y/n! Want to come look at my farms if Pearl and Tango would get out of the way?” You held up some papers.
“Actually, I have some plans I’ve been testing for a farm but I’m not sure if I have the numbers right. Would you mind looking over them with me?” Etho paused and his gaze flickered between you and the papers.
“Of course!” With that, your fate was sealed. Etho ushered you to the kitchen table and the papers were laid out and he started pouring over them, figuring it out in his head and mumbling it out. It didn’t take long to hear the effects of his fever. His rambling made no sense. Less sense than most of his redstone rambles. While he was talking, you gently placed your hand against his forehead. Etho froze before ever so slightly leaning against your hand.
Tango was right, he was burning up.
“Alright, that's enough. You need to get some rest, your fever is high.” Immediately Etho protested, “I’ll make you a deal. If you listen to what I tell you, I’ll take care of you. If you don’t, I’ll ask Doc too.” He weighed his choices. “Head to bed, I’ll be there in a minute with some things.” Etho jumped up and headed to his room, he was out cold when you went up three minutes later.
You took that time to get everything you needed together and make some light food for when he woke up. Knowing full well a sick Etho would take advantage of any open second to get away and go back to work and once he started it could be almost impossible to pull him away.
Etho was out until the next morning, and as predicted, he tried to escape out the window. Thankfully you had blocked all of them off so he couldn’t but he still tried. Begrudgingly, he accepted the tea and sipped on it slowly while he ate his soup.
When you checked his forehead, he leaned into your touch more than he had the day before, he was also quite a bit warmer then he had been. Hoping you were wrong, you gently pushed his hair off his forehead and kissed it. It was worse, though you were pretty sure the sudden flush in his cheeks was not from the fever.
Etho whined and complained when he was sentenced back to bed but immediately calmed down when you offered to read something to him. Settling down under a large pile of blankets he fell asleep to the fairy tale you were reading to him.
The next time he woke up, he was delirious and to make it worse, he kept trying to get up to go work on some redstone project. Nothing you tried would convince him to settle down and at least stay inside.
“You wanna know what will keep me inside?”
“Yes Etho, I do!” Etho’s expression morphed into something you weren’t sure you wanted to know and he leaned a little closer to whisper to you.”
“A kiss, and not on the cheek, it has to be on the lips and you have to cuddle with me.” Oh boy, you had a feeling you knew how this was going to end.”
“I will give you a kiss on the lips and cuddle with you, if you listen to me and you can collect it when you're better and no longer contagious.” He pouted at the last part but seemed to accept it as he settled back down in bed and fell back asleep.
Three days later, Etho was better and you left to go back to your base for the first time in 6 days. It was nice to finally shower in your own home, and it would be nice to finally get a full nights sleep again in your own bed.
What you didn’t expect was for someone to join you.
“It’s just me.” Etho. “I am here to collect my kiss and cuddles.” Of course Etho would remember that, why did you even agree to it i- Your thoughts were cut off by Etho pulling you closer to him.
“I’ve wanted to do this for years.” Etho whispered before closing the space between your lips. It was a short kiss, but damn was it good. You could feel the questions in the air, questions you weren’t sure if you knew how to answer. So you did the only thing you could think of that could possibly answer a few of them without having to find the words.
Placing your hand on his cheek, you pulled him back for another one. You could feel his smirk through your kiss and his arms tightened around your waist.
“I didn’t know you were so obsessed with me.” He teased, before you could fire a response back he continued, a little more serious, “It’s ok though, I’m obsessed with you too.”
Could I request a Xisuma x Reader(gender neutral if possible)?
I had a somewhat cute idea about how X doesn't take off his helmet and how it's kinda like a privacy thing (similar to how Etho doesn't take his mask off), so none of the hermits have seen his face, same with reader. So they've only recently started dating and, obviously, haven't kissed yet since X doesn't really like or want to take off his helmet (if there is a reason then you can think of something!) and the reader respects it. One day, though, X has to take off the helmet for whatever reason and the reader closes their eyes to make the admin feel comfortable and all that, but then he puts his hand over their eyes to keep them closed and finally kisses them, it being their "first kiss" (that isn't just the reader giving a peck onto his helmet)
Just overall fluffy and romantic with them being idiots in love :D
Oh my fricking god this idea is absolutely so adorable
A kiss?

Have fun reading this cute little oneshot! :D I deeply apologize if I'm there's a bit of mischaracterization- I haven't been keeping up with hermitcraft as of lately so I'm not sure if I missed something important that was probably necessary to add- anyways, enjoy!

(Let's start with a short backstory, shall we?)
Ever since you managed to get an invite to join Season ten of the infamous server, Hermitcraft, keeping up with the other players was a bit hard for you. You had joined in a bit late, so the others were much more ahead of you. Some of the Hermits would try to help you out and give you some stuff to help you get to where they were already, but you always politely declined saying that you had wanted to try and do stuff by yourself. They would be trying to convince you to accept, but they couldn't get through you no matter what.
However, there was one specific Hermit that was incredibly insistent on helping you. That Hermit was Xisuma, the server admin. He had noticed you struggling to keep up with the rest, he felt sympathetic and wanted to try and help you. He'd already heard from the other Hermits that you were a bit stubborn and would constantly deny help, but he was determined to help you. He'd try to sneak in something to help you in one of your chests, but you'd always end up catching him even if he used invisibility potions. You honestly began to adore how insistent he was on trying to help you, even if it was a tad bit annoying to deal with sometimes.
After probably a few weeks of Xisuma trying to help you, you finally cracked and gave in. Even if he had the helmet on, you could tell just how happy and relieved he was to see you finally accepting help. He'd help you out with gathering resources, getting better armour and tools and more. While he was helping you, the two of you got to talk to each other more and get to know each other more.
"Wait, so you've never taken off your helmet infront of anyone? Like, no one has ever seen your face?" You asked curiously, leaning against a workbench as you waited for the ores you had gathered a bit ago to smelt
"Nope! I sort of just never showed anyone, not even close friends. I've kept it that way ever since I joined the server." Xisuma answered giving a slight shrug, repairing a hole in the ground that was made by a creeper exploding
"Well, that's interesting to know." The two of you would continue to chat about different stuff aside from just Xisuma's mask, one of you would occasionally make a joke related to the topic and the other would either laugh or just let out a chuckle. Eventually, the whole gathering resources trip had been just completely abandoned as you and Xisuma were just bonding together at this point, not even realizing how long the conversation has been going for. You somehow never managed to get bored talking to Xisuma, that went the same for Xisuma aswell. The two of you were just enjoying each other's presence, chatting about life and fun little stories. At one point though, Xisuma would realize the time and would begin to apologize profusely for forgetting about helping you. You on the other hand was not too bothered by it, reassuring him that it was fine. You wanted to continue talking to him, but it was quite late in the evening so Xisuma had to go. It disappointed you just a tad bit, but you didn't complain or protest as you waved goodbye to the admin. Watching him turn and leave, a slight saddened expression forming on your face as you did
"Seems like someone's already missing a certain admin!~" A voice spoke from behind you, startling you extremely as you quickly turned around to see Skizz right there. It scared the living heck out of you to suddenly just seeing him behind you, you had to take a few deep breaths to calm yourself down
"Skizz?! When did you get there and how long have you been watching?!" You were glaring at him, blushing from embarrassment after finding out that Skizz was there all along
"Passed by here a few minutes ago and heard some chattering, I checked where it was coming from and saw you and X chatting! The two of you looked so cute together I just had to keep watching! And from what I saw after he left, you seemed to be so sad, I had to speak up!" Skizz spoke in his usual enthusiastic voice with a twinge of teasing, snickering to himself
"I am not sad- I am perfectly fine, I do not miss Xisuma one bit!" You denied what Skizz was saying despite knowing he was right, you turned towards the crafting table and craft something that you remembered you needed for later
"Sure, whatever you say." Skizz teased with a shrug, he'd continue to tease you for a bit before he'd eventually have to leave aswell since it was late and he still needed to do something. You were thankful that he didn't tease you for so long, you did not enjoy his playful bullying one bit. You'd go inside of your makeshift home to go sleep already, it was probably best if you slept already so that you could get up early tomorrow to start working on your base already. However, as soon as you laid in your bed, your thoughts began to get consumed by the memory of your bonding time with Xisuma. It kept you awake for a while until eventually, you managed to push it aside and fall asleep.
The next day, you found out that Skizz may or may not have told some of the hermits about what he saw with you and Xisuma. And now, the teasing increased even more now with Hermits other than Skizz teasing you. Some of them teasing you about the fact that out of everyone, Xisuma was the one that got you to crack, jokingly saying that you had a little crush on the admin. This went on for days and days, Xisuma was completely oblivious to it as he kept helping you out and hang out with you. Even if you tried to avoid him to get the Hermits to stop bullying you, you couldn't help but always accept Xisuma's offers to hang out/help you.
With Xisuma helping you, you managed to get your base done within just a few weeks. Having someone help you definitely made things easier, Xisuma even taught you a few building tricks he knew. Within that amount of time that Xisuma was helping, you found out more things about him while also growing a close bond with him. You'd find yourself messaging him yourself, asking him if he'd want to hang out since you were mostly fine already. You'd always get sad when you watched him leave to either do something or just going back to his base since it was late. Hell, you'd find yourself thinking about him late at night and how kind he was. Okay, maybe you were developing a tiny crush on him now.. Oddly enough, you would tell a bunch of this to Skizz since he was mostly the first one to actually see you and Xisuma bonding together. He'd help you figure out just how big of a crush you had on Xisuma, and boy was it big. Skizz would begin to try and encourage you to confess your feelings to the admin, but you were too scared to possibly ruin your guys' friendship.
And oh boy, when the other Hermits found out? The teasing did not decrease at ALL. You had to deal with it every. Single. Time. you went to visit one of the Hermits. Even with all your denying, they knew the truth and saw right through your lies.
Eventually, you began to notice Xisuma seemingly avoiding you now? He'd often only have short conversations with you before abruptly excusing himself saying that he had to go do something, or he'd avoid bumping into you. You really felt upset now, you'd always be seen more down since Xisuma sort of stopped hanging out with you. While you were blind to it, the Hermits weren't. They knew damn well what was going on, and they honestly found it amusing on how both of you seemed to be so oblivious to one another's feelings. Despite how funny it was to watch, they knew that they had to do something about this.
Long story short, the Hermits send each of you a letter pretending to be the other and you and Xisuma end up meeting up. Confusion gets to both of you, but one thing lead to another and you both confessed at the same time, unintentionally of course. And yeah! You and Xisuma became a couple :3

(Moving on to the actual thing now.)
Ever since you and Xisuma got together, you two decided to connect bases so you two won't be too far apart from each other. Xisuma had actually suggested it since he would often miss you a lot when he had to go, same for you aswell. So, now that you two are living with each other, you guys got more chances to show more affection to each other. While you didn't get to kiss Xisuma on the lips, you still got to kiss over his helmet which was fine with you since you knew why Xisuma didn't want to take his mask off, and you absolutely respected him.
You never asked to lift his helmet up, you completely understood his privacy and you let him not take his helmet off so he wouldn't feel any discomfort. You'd always cover your eyes or turn around when he needs to remove it for a quick second, you really didn't want to make Xisuma uncomfortable which is why you were turning around and all. Xisuma was really glad that you understood instead of forcing him to take it off, you were so understanding and kind, that's why he loved you so much.
Despite you having already accepted that you're probably not gonna see Xisuma's face for a while, you couldn't help but wonder what he looked like. He's described some of his features already, so you tried your best to imagine how he looked like from what he's described so far. You can see his eyes atleast, that makes imagining it a bit easier for you.
Moving on, one day, you decided to make a gift for your beloved since you realized you never actually re-payed him after he helped you. You chose to build a teddy-bear that was holding a heart with banners on it spelling out "I love you", you don't know why but you decided to make this build quite big but not bigger than yours and Xisuma's base. You spent days gathering materials, telling your lover that you were just gathering some stuff for one of the Hermits. He was suspicious, but didn't question it too much.
Once you finally gathered all the necessary resources, you got up early in the morning and you built a box to cover up your building area so that Xisuma wouldn't see what you were doing. After the box was built, you got to work on the teddy bear. It surprisingly took only a few hours, guess you were getting used to building already. Still inside the box, you took a step back and looked at your work proudly, you honestly couldn't believe you managed to get this done in a few hours only but you were proud of yourself. You'd then send a message to Xisuma, saying not to come out of the base or look outside the windows for a bit. Once he responded, you quickly got to work on getting rid of the box which took you about ten minutes.
And so, when there was no more box, you went inside the base and told Xisuma you had a surprise. He was confused but also excited to see his surprise, he asked why you decided to surprise him with something, to which you responded just saying that you wanted to repay him for helping you out back then.
You lead him out the door, covering his eyes- or well the part of his helmet that allows him to see with your hands so that he wouldn't see the surprise immediately. You brought him over right in front of the build you made, waiting for a few seconds before lifting your hands off the area on his helmet to let him see the surprise. Xisuma looked at the build for a few seconds, seeming to be absolutely in awe of the teddy bear you built. He took a few moments to admire it, also seeing the banners spelling out "I love you" made his heart warm. He'd eventually look back to you
"You made this for me?" Xisuma asked in slight disbelief, to which you nodded
"Yep! Like I said, I wanted to kind of repay you for helping me catch up to everyone else. You always help me even if I keep declining your help, and I really wanted to show you just how much I appreciated it by building this." You explained with a smile, you could already tell just how happy Xisuma was on how you made this for him. He'd stay silent for a few moments before suddenly putting your hands on your eyes, without having time to react, you felt a pair of lips against yours so suddenly. Was.. Was it Xisuma's lips? Of course it was. Once you realized it was him kissing you, you happily kissed him back. You couldn't see, but you didn't mind since you finally to feel your sweetheart's lips against yours. Sure, it wasn't the way you imagined how your guys' first kiss would go, but this was better to you either way. It was better than probably having to wait for years for this to happen anyways.
Eventually, Xisuma would pull away panting and trying to catch his breath. He saw the dumb smile you had on your face, which made him smile even more. He'd place his helmet back on and take his hands of your eyes, revealing your eyes being filled with love and adoration as you saw him again. You honestly could care less if you looked like an idiot, you just got kissed by your lover and that was all you wanted. Xisuma would hold you close to him, keeping you in an embrace as he leaned his head on yours
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Even if you couldn't see his face right now, you could figure he probably also has the same dumb smile you have on your face. You may not be able to see his face, but you will still always love him. Gods, you two were truly idiots in love. <3
